Abstract

A tamperproof container closure assembly having camming lugs securing a frangible portion of the closure skirt comprises a closure having a top panel 21 and depending skirt 22 having an upturned lower edge 29, threadably mounted on a container neck 12. The container neck is provided with diametrically opposed, downwardly sloping camming lugs 17 which the upturned edge 29 can pass over with slight temporary distortion of the lower part of the skirt when the closure is screwed down, but which prevent removal of the lower skirt portion when the closure is unscrewed. The lower skirt portion is attached to the upper by frangible bridges which break when the closure is unscrewed, since the upturned edge 29 engages with the lower, flat surface of the lugs 17. The lugs 17 are made of plastics, and may comprise a collar mounted on a glass bottle neck, Fig. 7 (not shown).
