Abstract

In a Venetian blind in which the tilt rod is operated by a worm and gear tilter mechanism within the head channel 20 the worm 35a is located between on the one hand its associated gear 36c on the tilt shaft 24 supported in bearings 36a, 36b in the body members 31, 32 of the tilter 30 and in bearings such as b in the lugs 26b, 26c of the cradle 26, and on the other hand the front wall 20a of the head channel 20, to produce a reduction in height of the head channel compared to former arrangements. The tapes or side pieces 18a, 18b of the ladders extend across the tops of the rookers 27 when the slats are untilted, the front side pieces 18a being secured by barbs in holes 27e in the rear of the rockers and the rear guide pieces 18b being similarly secured in holes 27d in front of the rockers. The wormshaft 35, Fig. 7, projects through an opening in the head channel 20 and an operating batton 38 is connected to the end of shaft 35 by an S-shaped hook, the lower portion 39a of which interfits complementarily with a channel in the lower portion of the shaft 35 and the upper L-shaped end extends into a diametrical hole or bore in the shaft and a sleeve 40 covers the interfitting portions to retain the portion 34a in the channel and provide a driving connection between the batton and shaft and the sleeve can be slid up the shaft to dismantle the batton.
