Abstract

To reduce the number of combing-out rollers in break-spinning apparatus, one such roller is arranged to co-operate with two spinning- chambers and two feeding-devices, the drive to the latter being dependant in each case on the continuity of the yarn being spun in the corresponding spinning chamber, so that when there is a break in the yarn being withdrawn from one of the chambers, the drive to the corresponding feeding device is interrupted. A combing-roller 2 is disposed within a block I having on each side of it, a fibre-feeding device. Each device comprises la funnel 25 and a roller 19 Which feeds the sliver forward in tight formation on to the combing-roller, the two lots of separated fibres being delivered separately to oppositely-disposed channels 5. These deliver the fibres on to surfaces 7 of spinning chambers each having a collecting surface 8 air-escape apertures 10 and a fixed outlet tube 13. From this, yarn is withdrawn by rollers 14 to be taken up at 17. Between each take-up and pair of rollers is a feeler 15 which, when a break occurs, causes, through an impulse-member 22, the separation of a clutch 20 in the drive of the corresponding feed-mechanism.
