Abstract
Proceso de fabricación de SiC, en el que las emisiones de gases contaminantes están minimizadas, que comprende la reducción de óxido de silicio mediante carbono, calentando eléctricamente una resistencia dentro de una mezcla de materias primas que consiste en una fuente carbonada seleccionada entre los coques, en concreto de petróleo, y una fuente de silicio, en concreto una sílice de pureza superior a 95% en SiO2, para dar lugar, a una temperatura superior a 1500ºC, a la reacción simplificada: SiO2 + 3C >= SiC + 2CO (1), caracterizándose dicho proceso por que dicha fuente carbonada experimenta previamente un tratamiento de eliminación del hidrógeno contenido, de tal manera que su contenido elemental en hidrógeno (TEMH) sea inferior a 2% en peso.
