Un procedimiento para la operación de una celda de trabajo para muestras automatizada (102, 410, 301) para el procesamiento de una o más muestras biológicas (125-130), en que la celda de trabajo comprende una estación de entrada de muestras (108, 401) y el procedimiento comprende: - la recepción (201) de las una o más muestras biológicas por la estación de entrada de muestras, en que cada muestra está contenida en un tubo de muestras y cada tubo de muestras es de un tipo (122-124); - la determinación por la celda de trabajo para muestras automatizada de si se ha recibido o no una orden de prueba (104) para al menos una de dichas muestras biológicas y, en caso de que se haya recibido una orden de prueba (104) para al menos una de dichas muestras biológicas, en que la orden de prueba es un objeto de datos que indica una o más pruebas analíticas que han de ejecutarse en la al menos una muestra biológica y que indica una o más primeras etapas de procesamiento, la ejecución automática (204) por la celda de trabajo para muestras automatizada de las una o más primeras etapas de procesamiento en la al menos una muestra biológica, caracterizado por - la determinación (205) por la celda de trabajo para muestras automatizada, en caso de que no se haya recibido dicha orden de prueba, de una o más segundas etapas de procesamiento en función del tipo del tubo de muestras que contiene dicha al menos una muestra biológica y la ejecución por parte de la celda de trabajo para muestras automatizada (206) de dichas una o más segundas etapas de procesamiento en la al menos una muestra biológica
