Description
Composición estabilizante.
La invención se refiere a nuevas composiciones de
polialquilpiperidinas foto-reactivas de bajo peso
molecular y polialquilpiperidinas no foto-reactivas
estéricamente impedidas y de bajo peso molecular, así como a
composiciones de mezcla madre que comprenden las nuevas
composiciones y a un procedimiento para estabilizar sustratos
poliméricos o prepoliméricos orgánicos sintéticos contra los daños
causados por la luz, el calor y/o la oxidación. La invención se
refiere también al correspondiente material orgánico estabilizado y
a su uso en la producción de fibras e hilos, artículos de moldeo,
material plástico espumado, revestimientos, lacas o barnices,
adhesivos y telas.
De acuerdo con la invención se proporciona una
composición, en particular adecuada como
foto-estabilizante, consistente en una
polialquilpiperidina de bajo peso molecular,
foto-reactiva, absorbente de la luz UV, de fórmula
general I (referida de aquí en adelante como componente A)

La relación del componente A al componente B se
puede elegir dentro de amplios límites. Sin embargo, se ha observado
un efecto sinérgico cuando las relaciones de A a B son de 95:5 a
5:95, con preferencia de 75:25 a 25:75, más preferentemente de 65:35
a 35:65.
Los compuestos del componente A y del componente
B son conocidos o pueden prepararse a partir de compuestos conocidos
mediante métodos también conocidos. Además, en esta descripción,
cuando se indica un intervalo, las cifras que definen el intervalo
quedan incluidas. Cualquier grupo capaz de ser lineal, ramificado o
cíclico es lineal, ramificado o cíclico salvo que se indique
expresamente lo contrario. Igualmente, en esta descripción, cuando
un símbolo aparece más de una vez en una fórmula, sus significados
son independientes entre sí salvo que se indique lo contrario.
En la fórmula I, R_{1} significa

De acuerdo con la presente invención, se
proporciona además una composición de mezcla madre sólida que
comprende las nuevas composiciones estabilizantes anteriormente
descritas. En dichas composiciones de mezcla madre, normalmente la
cantidad de la composición estabilizante según la invención es de 10
a 80% en peso, con preferencia de 15 a 40% en peso, y la cantidad
del material polimérico o prepolimérico natural o sintético, que es
idéntico a o compatible con el sustrato polimérico o prepolimérico
natural o sintético a estabilizar, es de 90 a 20% en peso, con
preferencia de 85 a 60% en peso.
La invención proporciona además un procedimiento
para mejorar la foto-estabilidad de sustratos
poliméricos o prepoliméricos naturales o sintéticos, que comprenden
incorporar en los mismos una cantidad estabilizante de la
composición estabilizante anteriormente descrita, como tal o en
forma de una composición de mezcla madre sólida. La cantidad de
composición necesaria para conferir un grado apreciable de
foto-estabilización sobre un sustrato varía con el
tipo y uso final del sustrato. El experto en la materia puede
determinar fácilmente la cantidad adecuada para cualquier caso dado,
pero las cantidades habituales son de 0,01 a 7,5% en peso, con
preferencia de 0,03 a 5% en peso, más preferentemente de 0,2 a 3,5%
en peso.
La composición estabilizante según la invención
se puede incorporar por métodos conocidos en el sustrato a
estabilizar antes o después de la polimerización, por ejemplo
mediante mezcla en estado fundido, si es adecuado con otros aditivos
antes o durante el proceso de conformado, o bien aplicando la
composición estabilizante disuelta o dispersa sobre el sustrato, si
es adecuado con posterior evaporación del disolvente.
La invención proporciona además un material
orgánico estabilizado que comprende una cantidad
foto-estabilizante de una composición como se ha
descrito anteriormente y un sustrato polimérico o prepolimérico
natural o sintético. Este sustrato o el material orgánico
estabilizado se somete a un proceso de conformado, como antes se ha
indicado, que comprende la producción de toda la gama de artículos
poliméricos, por ejemplo, fibras, hilos, telas, artículos de moldeo,
espumas, revestimientos, lacas, barnices o adhesivos.
Ejemplos de sustratos a estabilizar son:
1. Polímeros de monoolefinas y diolefinas, por
ejemplo polipropileno, poliisobutileno,
polibut-1-eno,
poli-4-metilpent-l-eno,
poliisopreno o polibutadieno, así como polímeros de cicloolefinas,
por ejemplo de ciclopenteno o norborneno; además polietileno (que
opcionalmente puede estar reticulado), por ejemplo polietileno de
alta densidad (HDPE), polietileno de baja densidad (LDPE),
polietileno lineal de baja densidad (LLDPE), polietileno ramificado
de baja densidad (BLDPE).
Las poliolefinas, o sea los polímeros de
monoolefinas ejemplificados en el párrafo precedente, de preferencia
polietileno y polipropileno, pueden prepararse por métodos
diferentes, y especialmente por los siguientes:
a) polimerización por radicales libres
(normalmente bajo alta presión y a temperatura elevada).
b) polimerización catalítica utilizando un
catalizador que contiene normalmente uno o más metales de los grupos
IVb, Vb, VIb o VIII de la Tabla Periódica. Estos metales usualmente
tienen uno o más ligandos, tales como óxidos, haluros, alcoholatos,
ésteres, éteres, aminas, alquilos, alquenilos y/o arilos que pueden
estar \pi o \sigma- coordinados. Estos complejos metálicos
pueden estar en forma libre o fijados sobre sustratos, por ejemplo
sobre cloruro de magnesio activado, cloruro de titanio (III),
alúmina u óxido de silicio. Estos catalizadores pueden ser solubles
o insolubles en el medio de polimerización. Los catalizadores pueden
ser activos como tales en la polimerización o pueden utilizarse
otros activadores, por ejemplo alquilos metálicos, hidruros
metálicos, haluros de alquilos metálicos, óxidos de alquilos
metálicos o alquiloxanos metálicos, siendo dichos metales elementos
de los grupos Ia, IIa y/o IIIa de la Tabla Periódica. Los
activadores pueden modificarse, por ejemplo con otros grupos éster,
éter, amina o silil éter. Estos sistemas catalíticos se denominan
usualmente como catalizadores Phillips, Standard Oil Indiana,
Ziegler (-Natta), TNZ (DuPont), de metalocenos o catalizadores
monopunto (SSC).
2. Mezclas de los polímeros citados bajo 1), por
ejemplo mezclas de polipropileno con poliisobutileno, polipropileno
con polietileno (por ejemplo PP/HDPE/LDPE) y mezclas entre sí de
tipos diferentes de polietileno (por ejemplo LDPE/HDPE).
3. Copolímeros de monoolefinas y diolefinas entre
sí o con otros monómeros vinílicos, por ejemplo copolímeros de
etileno/propileno, polietileno lineal de baja densidad (LLDPE) y sus
mezclas con polietileno de baja densidad (LDPE), copolímeros de
propileno/but-1-eno, copolímeros de
propileno/isobutileno, copolímeros de
etileno/but-1-eno, copolímeros de
etileno/hexeno, copolímeros de etileno/metilpenteno, copolímeros de
etileno/hepteno, copolímeros de etileno/octeno, copolímeros de
propileno/butadieno, copolímeros de isobutileno/isopreno,
copolímeros de etileno/acrilato de alquilo, copolímeros de
etileno/metacrilato de alquilo, copolímeros de etileno/acetato de
vinilo y sus copolímeros con monóxido de carbono o copolímeros de
etileno/ácido acrílico y sus sales (ionómeros), así como
terpolímeros de etileno con propileno y un dieno tal como hexadieno,
diciclopentadieno o etiliden-norborneno: y mezclas
de estos copolímeros entre sí y con polímeros citados en 1) antes,
por ejemplo copolímeros de polipropileno/etileno/propileno,
copolímeros de LDPE/etileno/acetato de vinilo (EVA), copolímeros de
LDPE/etileno/ácido acrílico (EAA), LLDPE/EVA, LLDPE/EAA y
copolímeros alternos o al azar de polialquileno/monóxido de carbono
y sus mezclas con otros polímeros, por ejemplo poliamidas.
4. Resinas hidrocarbonadas (por ejemplo
C_{5}-C_{9}) incluyendo sus modificaciones
hidrogenadas (por ejemplo, resinas espesantes) y mezclas de
polialquilenos y almidón.
5. Poliestireno,

6. Copolímeros de estireno o
alfa-metilestireno con dienos o derivados acrílicos,
por ejemplo estireno/butadieno, estireno/acrilonitrilo,

expuestos bajo 6), por ejemplo las mezclas de copolímeros conocidas
como polímeros de ABS, MBS, ASA o AES.
8. Polímeros conteniendo halógeno tal como
policloropreno, caucho clorado, copolímero clorado y bromado de
isobutileno-isopreno (caucho de halobutilo),
polietileno clorado o sulfoclorado, copolímeros de etileno y
etileno clorado, homo- y copolímeros de epiclorhidrina,
especialmente polímeros de compuestos de vinilo conteniendo
halógeno, por ejemplo cloruro de polivinilo, cloruro de
polivinilideno, fluoruro de polivinilo, fluoruro de polivinilideno,
así como sus copolímeros tal como copolímeros de cloruro de
vinilo/cloruro de vinilideno, cloruro de vinilo/acetato de vinilo o
cloruro de vinilideno/acetato de vinilo.
9. Polímeros derivados de ácidos alfa,
beta-insaturados y sus derivados tal como
poliacrilatos y polimetacrilatos, poliacrilamidas,
poliacrilonitrilos y metacrilatos de polimetilo de impacto
modificado con acrilato de butilo.
10. Copolímeros de monómeros citados bajo 9)
entre sí o con otros monómeros insaturados, por ejemplo copolímeros
de acrilonitrilo/butadieno, copolímeros de acrilonitrilo/acrilato de
alquilo, copolímeros de acrilonitrilo/acrilato de alcoxialquilo o
acrilonitrilo/haluro de vinilo o terpolímeros de
acrilonitrilo/metacrilato de alquilo/butadieno.
11. Polímeros derivados de alcoholes insaturados
y aminas o los derivados acilo o sus acetales, por ejemplo alcohol
polivinílico, acetato de polivinilo, estearato de polivinilo,
benzoato de polivinilo, maleato de polivinilo, polivinilbutiral,
ftalato de polialilo o polialilmelamina; así como sus copolímeros
con las olefinas citadas en 1) antes.
12. Homopolímeros y copolímeros de éteres
cíclicos tal como polialquilenglicoles, óxido de polietileno, óxido
de polipropileno o sus copolímeros con éteres de bisglicidilo.
13. Poliacetales tal como polioximetileno y
aquellos polioximetilenos que contienen, por ejemplo, óxido de
etileno como un comonómero; poliacetales modificados con
poliuretanos termoplásticos, acrilatos o MBS.
14. Oxidos y sulfuros de polifenileno, y mezclas
de los mismos con polímeros de estireno o poliamidas.
15. Poliuretanos derivados de poliéteres
terminados en hidroxilo, poliésteres y polibutadienos por una parte
y poliisocianatos alifáticos o aromáticos por otra, así como sus
precursores.
16. Poliamidas y copoliamidas derivadas de
diaminas y ácidos dicarboxílicos y/o de ácidos aminocarboxílicos o
las lactamas correspondientes, por ejemplo poliamidas 4, 6, 6/6,
6/10, 6/9, 6/12, 4/6, 12/12, 11, 12, poliamidas aromáticas a partir
de diamina de m-xileno, diamina y ácido adípico;
poliamidas preparadas a partir de hexametilendiamina y ácido
isoftálico y/o tereftálico y con o sin un elastómero como
modificador, por ejemplo
poli-2,4,4-trimetilhexametilentereftalamida

La invención se ilustra adicionalmente por medio
de los siguientes ejemplos en donde todas las partes se expresan en
peso:
Se mezclan en seco 100 partes de polipropileno en
polvo (índice de flujo en estado fundido 4, 230º C/2,16 kg) con 0,1
partes de estearato de Ca, 0,05 partes de
pentaeritritil-tetraquis-[3-(3,5-di-ter-butil-4-hidroxifenil)propionato]
y 0,075 partes de cada uno de los componentes A y B y se homogeniza
durante 10 minutos a 220º C. La composición así obtenida se moldea
por compresión en una prensa de rótula para proporcionar una placa
de 1-1,5 mm de grosor. Se corta parte de la pieza de
moldeo en bruto obtenida y se comprime entre dos papeles de aluminio
duros y de alto brillo a 210º C durante 1,5 minutos a una presión de
3 toneladas y adicionalmente durante otros 1,5 minutos a una presión
de 30 toneladas, para proporcionar una película de 0,1 mm de grosor.
A partir de esta película se troquelan porciones cada una de ellas
de 40 x 45 mm aproximadamente y se irradian en un Atlas
Weather-Ometer Ci 65. A intervalos regulares de
tiempo, se retiran dichas muestras de ensayo del aparato de
irradiación y se ensayan respecto a su contenido carbonilo en un
espectrofotómetro IR. El incremento de la extinción de carbonilo
tras la exposición es una medida de la degradación
foto-oxidativa del polímero y, de acuerdo con la
experiencia, está asociado con un deterioro de las propiedades
mecánicas del polímero. El tiempo necesario para alcanzar un índice
carbonilo de 0,30 se considera como una medida de la acción
estabilizante.

2) Tinuvin 770 es un nombre comercial de la
compañía Ciba-Geigy para un compuesto de fórmula
B-1 en donde n es 8 y R_{3} significa
3) Tinuvin 292 es un nombre comercial de la
compañía Ciba-Geigy para un compuesto de fórmula
B-1 en donde n es 8 y R_{3} significa
4) Tinuvin 123 es un nombre comercial de la
compañía Ciba-Geigy para un compuesto de fórmula
B-1 en donde n es 8 y R_{3} significa
5) Sanduvor 3050 es un nombre comercial de la
compañía Clariant para un compuesto de fórmula B-10
en donde R_{5} significa hidrógeno y R_{6} significa
(CH_{2})_{m}COOR_{7} en donde m es 2 y R_{7} es una
mezcla de C_{12}H_{25} y C_{14}H_{29} en la relación de 60 a
40.
6) Dastib es un nombre comercial de la compañía
Vucht para un compuesto de fórmula B-15 en donde m
es 11 a 17 y R_{3} significa
Se mezclan 100 partes de polipropileno en polvo
(Hostales PPU 0180 P, Hoechst, MFI 15 g/10 min.; 230º C/2,16 kg) con
0,1 partes de estearato de Ca, 0,05 partes de
pentaeritritil-tetraquis-[3-(3,5-di-ter-butil-4-hidroxifenil)-propionato]
y 0,15 partes de los foto-estabilizantes y se
homogeniza en estado fundido mediante extrusión.
Se lleva a cabo una exposición acelerada a la
intemperie de acuerdo con las siguientes normas:
Algunas de las placas se emplean para producir
películas en la prensa de un grosor medio de alrededor de 0,1 mm.
Dichas películas se someten también al ensayo de exposición
acelerada a la intemperie. El control del incremento de la absorción
carbonilo en aproximadamente 1720 cm^{-1} empleando un
espectrómetro IR en ciertos intervalos de tiempo, proporciona una
indicación de la degradación foto-oxidativa.
El tiempo (T_{0,5 \ medido}) para alcanzar la
extinción de carbonilo de 0,5 se ofrece en las tablas 1 y 2.
Se calculan los valores de T_{0,5 \ calculado}
de acuerdo con la regla de aditividad (B. Ranby y J:F. Rabek,
Photodegradation, Photo-oxidation y
Photostabilization of Polymers, Principles and Applications, a
Wiley-Interscience Publication, 1975, pp
418-422) y utilizando la siguiente ecuación:

El efecto sinérgico se determina comparando los
valores de T_{0,5} calculados y medidos. Los valores se ofrecen
también en las tablas 1 y 2.
El efecto sinérgico para las mezclas descritas
tiene lugar si T_{0,5 \ medido}> T_{0,5} _{calculado}.
Claims (8)
1. Composición consistente en una
polialquilpiperidina de bajo peso molecular,
foto-reactiva, absorbente de la luz UV, de fórmula
general I (referida de aquí en adelante como componente A)
en
donde
- R_{1}
- significa hidrógeno, hidroxilo, alquilo C_{1-20}, alcoxi C_{1-20} o acilo
- R_{2}
- significa hidrógeno, alquilo C_{1-8}, alcoxi C_{1-2}
y una polialquilpiperidina
estéricamente impedida de bajo peso molecular, no
foto-reactiva (referida de aquí en adelante como
componente B) seleccionada del grupo consistente en los compuestos
B-1 a B-24 de las siguientes

2. Composición según la reivindicación 1, en
donde la relación de A a B es de 95:5 a 5:95, con preferencia de
75:25 a 25:75, más preferentemente de 65:35 a 35:65.
3. Una composición de mezcla madre sólida que
comprende una composición según la reivindicación 1 ó 2 y un
material polimérico o prepolimérico natural o sintético que es
idéntico a o compatible con el sustrato polimérico natural o
sintético a estabilizar.
4. Una composición de mezcla madre sólida según
la reivindicación 3 que comprende de 10 a 80% en peso, con
preferencia de 15 a 40% en peso, de la composición estabilizante y
de 90 a 20% en peso, con preferencia de 85 a 60% en peso, de una
material polimérico o prepolimérico natural o sintético.
5. Procedimiento para estabilizar un sustrato
polimérico o prepolimérico natural o sintético contra los daños
causados por la luz, que comprende añadir a dicho sustrato una
cantidad estabilizante de la composición según la reivindicación 1 o
de la composición de mezcla madre sólida de la reivindicación 3.
6. Procedimiento según la reivindicación 5, en
donde se añade de 0,01 a 7,5% en peso, con preferencia de 0,03 a 5%
en peso, más preferentemente de 0,2 a 3,5% en peso, de la
composición según la reivindicación 1.
7. Un material orgánico estabilizado que
comprende
a) una composición según la reivindicación 1 ó 2
y
b) un sustrato polimérico o prepolimérico natural
o sintético.
8. Uso de un material orgánico estabilizado según
la reivindicación 7 en la producción de fibras e hilos, artículos de
moldeo, material plástico espumado, revestimientos, lacas o
barnices, adhesivos, telas.
