Abstract
Un electrodo basado en carbono para la reducción electroquímica de azufre u oxígeno, que comprende un núcleo de electrodo y, en contacto eléctrico con él, una estructura que comprende un material poroso, de carbono activado en forma de partículas, unido con un material aglutinante polimérico, caracterizado porque la estructura es al menos de 1 mm de espesor, en que el material de carbono activado en forma de partículas, se prepara a partir de un material lignocelulósico y tiene las siguientes propiedades: i) un tamaño de partículas en el intervalo desde 200 a 850 mm; ii) un volumen de poros desde 0,45 a 1,0 cm3 por gramo; iii)una superficie específica en el intervalo desde 800 a 1500 m2/g; y en que el aglutinante se utiliza en una cantidad que no excede el 25 % en peso, basado en la mezcla del carbono activado y el material aglutinante.
