EL AMONIACO QUE SE ENCUENTRA EN LOS GASES CARBURANTES DENTRO DE LOS TANQUES SE ELIMINA DE ELLOS PASANDO LA CORRIENTE DEL GAS CARBURANTE A TRAVES DE UN LECHO DE BROZA FORMADO POR PELLETS DE CARBON POROSO QUE CONTIENEN ACIDO FOSFORICO. EL AMONIACO REACCIONA CON EL ACIDO FOSFORICO EN EL LECHO DE BROZA PARA FORMAR COMPUESTOS DE FOSFATO AMONICO QUE QUEDAN RETENIDOS EN EL LECHO DE BROZA. DE ESTE MODO, SE REDUCE EL CONTENIDO DE AMONIACO DE LA CORRIENTE DE GAS CARBURANTE HASTA UNA CONCENTRACION ACEPTABLE. SE DISMINUYE LA TEMPERATURA DE LA CORRIENTE DEL GAS CARBURANTE QUE PASA A TRAVES DEL LECHO DE BROZA PARA REDUCIR AL MINIMO LA CANTIDAD DE ACIDO FOSFORICO QUE SE EVAPORA EN LA CORRIENTE DEL GAS CARBURANTE Y PARA PROLONGAR LA VIDA EN FUNCIONAMIENTO DEL BROZA.
