Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform the captioned desulfurization highly efficiently and economically by desulfurizing exhaust gas by the use of activated semicoke as adsorbent, and reducing the SO2-contg. gas obtained through thermal decomposition of the adsorbed sulfuric acid by the hydrogen-contg. gas in the system.
CONSTITUTION: Fuel coal is supplied to a boiler 6. The exhaust gas of the boiler 6 is put in contact with the semicoke in the adsorber and is thereby desulfurized. SOX is adsorbed on coke in the form of sulfuric acid. Part of coal is sent to a carbonizer 24, where it is carbonized at 500W800°C and the formed semicoke is activated by the oxygen-contg. gas and steam in an activator 30. The carbonized gas from the carbonizer 24 is sent to a converter 44. The gas formed in the activator 30 is also sent to the converter 44. The coke sent from the adsorber 10 to a desorber 14 is heated and the deposited sulfuric acid is decomposed to SO2 and is thereby desorbed. The regenerated coke is returned to the adsorber 10 and the SO2-contained gas is reduced to H2O in the converter 44. It is then recovered as sulfur together with the SO2-contained gas in a Claus reaction furnace 48.
