Abstract

PURPOSE: To effect a high yield recovery of simple substance of sulfur by a method wherein an activated semicoke is used to adsorb sulfurous acid gas in waste gas, is subject to desorption by heating, and the obtained concentrated SO2 gas is reduced.
CONSTITUTION: The adsorption column 2 is filled with the activated semicoke obtained by dry distillation and activation of coal. There, the semicoke is brought into contact with the waste gas so that sulfurous acid gas in the waste gas is adsorbed. Then, the adsorbent is sent to a desorption column 3 and subject to heat treatment. This causes sulfuric acid on the coke to form concentrated SO2 gas. The SO2 gas is guided into the converter 4 and reduced with semicoke, etc. to form into vapor of simple substance sulfur. The vapor is cooled by the recovering device 5 to recover solid simple substance sulfur. In this manner, a high yield recovery of sulfurous acid gas as simple substance sulfur is provided in the dry-type exhaust gas desulfurization system.
