UN ESPEJO DICROICO PARA REFLEJAR UN RAYO DE UN COLOR DADO, INCLUYE UN SUSTRATO Y UNA PELICULA DE CAPAS MULTIPLES FORMADAS EN EL SUSTRATO. LA PELICULA DE CAPAS MULTIPLES ESTA CONSTITUIDA POR UNA PRIMERA CAPA REFLECTORA DICROICA, UNA CAPA INTERMEDIA, Y UNA SEGUNDA CAPA REFLECTORA DICROICA SECUENCIALMENTE DESDE EL LADO DE INCIDENCIA DEL RAYO. LA PRIMERA CAPA REFLECTORA DICROICA TIENE UN NIVEL DE REFLEXION MENOR DE UNO O DOS COMPONENTES DE POLARIZACION ORTOGONAL DEL RAYO, QUE LA OTRA DE LOS DOS COMPONENTES DE POLARIZACION ORTOGONAL. LA CAPA INTERMEDIA GIRA UN PLANO DE POLARIZACION DE AL MENOS PARTE DE UN RAYO DE UN COMPONENTE DEL RAYO QUE PASA A TRAVES DE LA PRIMERA CAPA REFLECTORA DICROICA, Y LA SEGUNDA CAPA REFLECTORA DICROICA REFLEJA AL MENOS PARTE DEL RAYO CUYO PLANO DE POLARIZACION ES GIRADO POR LA CAPA INTERMEDIA.
