SEGUN EL MODO DE PURIFICACION DEL CARBONATO DE DIFENIL (DPC) LOS CARBONATOS DE DIARIL SE PURIFICAN Y SE LIBERAN DE CONTAMINANTES TALES COMO CLORUROS INORGANICOS Y ORGANICOS, IONES DE METAL, COMPONENTES FERROSOS Y CUERPOS DE COLOR. EL PROCESO ES UN PROCEDIMIENTO DE DOS ETAPAS QUE SE INICIA CON UN LAVADO CON AGUA DEL CARBONATO FUNDIDO SEGUIDO POR UNA DESTILACION. EN UNA CONFORMACION MAS ADECUADA, EL DPC CRUDO SE CARGA EN EL TANQUE DE LAVADO Y SE LAVA EN ESTADO FUNDIDO TRES VECES. SE UTILIZA UN PRODUCTO CONDENSADO DE CORRIENTE FRESCA PARA CADA LAVADO QUE CONSTA DE UN PERIODO DE AGITACION SEGUIDO POR UN PERIODO DE DECANTACION Y POSTERIORMENTE POR LA ELIMINACION DEL AGUA. DESPUES DEL TERCER LAVADO, EL DPC FUNDIDO SE TRANSFIERE A UN ALAMBIQUE PARA SU DESTILACION. LA CAPA DESECHABLE QUE SE FORMA EN LA INTERCONEXION DEL AGUA/DPC DURANTE EL LAVADO SE QUITA Y NO SE PERMITE QUE PASE A TRAVES DEL ALAMBIQUE. SE LLEVA A CABO UNA DESTILACION SUBITA BAJO UN VACIO CONSTANTE. SE OBTIENE TRES CORTES SUPERIORES PRODUCTOS LIGEROS, PRODUCTOS INTERMEDIOS Y DPC DEPENDIENDO DE LA TEMPERATURA DEL VAPOR DE LA PARTE SUPERIOR.
