UNA ESPUMA DE RESINA SINTETICA EXTRUIDA COMPRENDIENDO UNA ESTRUCTURA CELULAR DE SUBSTANCIALMENTE DOS TAMAÑOS DE CELULA DIFERENTES, SIENDO EL TAMAÑO MENOR NO MAS DE ALREDEDOR DE 0,25 MM. MIENTRAS QUE EL OTRO TAMAÑO ES DESDE ALREDEDOR DE 0,4 A ALREDEDOR DE 1MM. LAS CELULAS ESTAN DISPERSAS A MODO DE ISLAS EN EL MAR. UNA ESPUMA TAL COMO ESPUMA DE ESTIRENO SE PRODUCE FORMANDO UNA MEZCLA DE RESINA SINTETICA, UN POLVO MINERAL FINO TENIENDO GRUPOS HIDROXILO, Y UN AGENTE DE CONTROL CELULAR, INCORPORANDO UN AGENTE ESPUMANTE VOLATIL Y EXTRUYENDO LA MEZCLA PARA FORMAR UNA ESPUMA. EL POLVO TIENE UN TAMAÑO DE PARTICULA DE NO MAS DE 1000 NM Y PUEDE SER SILICE TENIENDO GRUPOS DE SILANOL.
