ESTE PROCESO CONSISTE EN PONER EN CONTACTO UN MEDIO LIQUIDO QUE CONTIENE AL MENOS UN HESOSA, POR EJEMPLO FRUCTOSA CON UN CATALIZADOR SOLIDO CONSTITUIDO POR UN TECTOSILICATO O UNA ARCILLA NO FUNCIONALIZADA POR GRUPOS ACIDOS, POR EJEMPLO UNA ZEOLITA EN FORMA PROTONICA TAL COMO UNA MORDENITA H. SE PUEDE ASI EXTRAER EL HMF FORMADO MEDIANTE UN SOLVENTE ORGANICO TAL COMO LA METILISOBUTILCETONA EN UNA INSTALACION DE EXTRACCION A CONTRACORRIENTE.
