EL SISTEMA INCLUYE UN MEDICAMENTO EN COMBINACION CON UNA MATRIZ, EN DONDE LA MATRIZ COMPRENDE UN POLIMERO QUE CONTIENE UN SACARIDO. SEGUN LA INVENCION, LA MATRIZ ES RESISTENTE A LA DEGRADACION QUIMICA Y ENZIMATICA EN EL ESTOMAGO Y EN EL INTESTINO DELGADO. LA MATRIZ SE DEGRADA EN EL COLON POR LA ACCION ENZIMATICA BACTERIANA Y SE LIBERA EL MEDICAMENTO. EL SISTEMA ES UTIL PARA MEDICAMENTOS CUYO BLANCO SEA EL COLON CON EL FIN DE TRATAR ENFERMEDADES COLONICAS.
