Definitions
- the present invention relates to a lumbar support for attachment to a backrest of a seat, comprising or consisting of a lumbar support body and a fastening strap attached to at least two points of the lumbar support body, the fastening strap being essentially non-elastic in the tightening direction and the tightening length of the fastening strap being at least a clamping device is adjustable.
- the invention also relates to a use of the lumbar support according to the invention with a backrest of a seat.
- the lordosis is the natural abdominal curvature of the lumbar spine.
- a lumbar support also referred to as a lumbar support, is an element on a backrest of a seat that supports the lumbar spine of an occupant of the seat. If the musculature of the lumbar spine tires when sitting for a long time, a lumbar support helps to maintain the natural posture with lordosis without the curvature of the lumbar spine turning into a backward curvature.
- Lumbar supports are commonly used in areas where people remain seated for long periods of time, such as when seated in a car or office. Many office chairs or car seats therefore already have integrated lumbar supports, which ensure a healthy sitting position for those seated.
- lumbar support In addition to the aforementioned integrated lumbar support, designs are also known in which the lumbar support is designed independently and can be attached to different seats. In this way, seats that do not have an integrated lumbar support can also be fitted with a lumbar support.
- a correspondingly shaped element is often attached to the backrest of a seat as a lumbar support.
- Such an element can be, for example, a cushion or a frame covered with a support cover.
- a lumbar support for use in connection with a seating arrangement, such as in particular a chair, seat, arm chair or sofa, with a clamping frame, and with a support means held on the clamping frame and with at least one on the clamping frame acting clamping means, wherein the clamping means has an adjustment device for adjusting the pretension of the clamping frame.
- a connecting means is described that has an elastic band.
- the lumbar support described in the prior art has the disadvantage that it can slip on the seat when the user moves. The reason for this is that the support is only held by an elastic band, the support of which is limited by the elasticity of the band.
- the tension force of the elastic band decreases over time due to the aging of the elastic material and this results in an (additional) loosening of the lumbar support on the seat.
- a lumbar support that allows a firm seat on a backrest, this firm seat can be maintained over a long period of time and the lumbar support can be easily and quickly retrofitted to seats.
- a lumbar support for attachment to a backrest of a seat comprising or consisting of a lumbar support body and a fastening strap attached to at least two points of the lumbar support body, the fastening strap being essentially non-elastic in the tightening direction and the tightening length of the fastening strap with at least one clamping means is adjustable.
- Our own investigations have surprisingly shown that the use of inelastic fastening straps with a possibility of extending the clamping length of the strap via a tensioning device makes it possible to attach the lumbar supports to a backrest of a seat very quickly and conveniently.
- fastening straps are inelastic, it is possible to lash the lumbar supports to the seat, thereby preventing the lumbar supports from slipping. Unlike the use of elastic fastening straps, the lumbar supports can be prevented from slipping. Since the use of elastomers can be dispensed with in the case of inelastic belts, it has also been shown that the attachment to the backrest also remains fixed over a very long period of time. Our own investigations have also shown that elastic materials tend to lose their elasticity or become brittle. This effect is particularly enhanced when the materials are exposed to high temperatures and/or direct light, such as in a car during the summer months.
- the elasticity of a belt is understood to mean the property that the belt can change its length under the action of force and returns to its original shape or original length when the force is removed.
- Elastic belts are known to those skilled in the art, for example, as rubber bands or rubber belts. This is to be distinguished from fastening straps that are inelastic. Inelastic bands show no or only an insignificant change in length under the influence of force during use and do not return to their original shape or original length when the force is removed.
- Inelastic straps are known to those skilled in the art, for example as tension straps or lashing straps.
- a belt is considered to be inelastic if the increase in length of the belt when subjected to a force of 30 daN is less than 10%.
- a 100 mm long strap is first loaded with a force of 30 daN in the tensioning direction of the strap. The force is then withdrawn and the length of the relaxed belt is measured. A force of 30 daN is then applied along the tensioning direction of the belt and the subsequent length of the belt under the force is measured. The quotient of the length during the application of the force and the length before the application of the force in % gives the increase in length in %.
- a lumbar support is preferred according to the invention, with the tightening means being selected from the group comprising clamping locks, clamping buckles, folding buckles, tensioning buckles, ladder buckles (preferably) with grip tabs, wire locking clamps and buckles with single or double adjustment.
- Tensioning buckles and locking buckles with a single or double adjustment option are particularly preferred.
- These tensioning devices are known to those skilled in the art and are often used, for example, in the case of textile items of luggage, such as rucksacks, or in the case of items of clothing.
- closure buckles referred to there as a plug closure; reference number 13
- tensioning buckles reference number 18
- Ladder buckles are a preferred embodiment of tensioning buckles. Our own investigations have shown that the use of these clamping devices enables the lumbar support to be attached particularly easily and quickly. If a buckle with a single or double adjustment option is used, it is also possible to mount lumbar supports that cannot be slipped over the backrest of a seat, or only with great difficulty. Our own investigations have shown that ladder buckles (preferably with a grip tab) are particularly preferred.
- the clamping means is preferably made from a plastic, preferably from a polypropylene, polyethylene, polyamide or polyester, it also being possible for the plastic to be fiber-reinforced (e.g. glass-fiber reinforced).
- the clamping means is made of polypropylene.
- polypropylene due to its specific density and hardness, is resistant to tension for a particularly long time and that this means that the lumbar support remains firmly strapped for a particularly long time.
- the clamping means can also be made of a metal.
- a lumbar support is preferred according to the invention, with the fastening strap made of polypropylene, polyethylene (in particular UHMWPE), polyamide, polyester and/or cotton or comprising at least one of these substances. It is preferred according to the invention if the fastening strap does not include any elastomers.
- a lumbar support is preferred according to the invention, with the increase in length of the fastening belt during a force of 30 daN being less than 10%, preferably less than 5%, particularly preferably less than 2.5%.
- an elastomer is understood as meaning a polymer which is a dimensionally stable but elastically deformable plastic whose Glass transition point is below the operating temperature.
- the operating temperature for lumbar supports is usually approx. 20 °C, but can also be lower or higher in special applications.
- a lumbar support is preferred according to the invention, the lumbar support body consisting of or comprising a tensioning frame, a covering attached to the tensioning frame and at least one tensioning device acting on the tensioning frame.
- the configuration of the lumbar support according to the invention with a clamping frame, covering and clamping device can be carried out analogously to the lumbar support described in DE 20 2015 008 090 U1.
- the shape and, on the other hand, the supporting force of the lumbar support body can be adjusted in a simple manner by means of the clamping device.
- the lumbar support can thus be adapted to the body shape and/or the weight of different users.
- By shortening the tensioning device the tensioning force in the tensioning frame increases, so that the fabric is tensioned more tightly.
- the tensioning device is preferably designed as at least one, in particular divided, webbing with a first webbing section and a second webbing section, or has such a webbing.
- a webbing of the aforementioned type for example in the form a tension belt, is particularly well suited to absorbing high forces and is also robust against mechanical damage.
- the design with a first webbing section and a second webbing section allows the length of the webbing or the tensioning means to be adjusted, by means of which the pretensioning of the tensioning frame can be adjusted and the lumbar support as such can be adapted to the forces acting on it.
- a lumbar support is preferred according to the invention, with the clamping frame comprising a base element made of plastic, preferably a duroplast, or metal, preferably spring steel.
- a lumbar support is preferred according to the invention, wherein the base element is a wire.
- a lumbar support is preferred according to the invention, the base element being covered with a textile.
- a lumbar support is preferred according to the invention, with support means having a particularly textile, preferably net-like fabric.
- the woven fabric is preferably a woven fabric that comprises or consists of polypropylene fibers.
- a lumbar support is preferred according to the invention, with a massage unit on the support means, which is preferably made of polypropylene and preferably comprises nubs that produce a massage effect.
- a lumbar support is preferred according to the invention, with the support means being designed to be permeable to air and/or vapor.
- a lumbar support is preferred according to the invention, the clamping device being formed essentially inelastically in the clamping direction and the clamping length of the clamping device being adjustable with at least one clamping means.
- a lumbar support is preferred according to the invention, wherein the tensioning device is a webbing.
- the lumbar support body can be a foam body, a latex body, a plastic body, a back or lumbar cushion, an air-filled body or mixed forms of these bodies.
- Another aspect of the present invention relates to the use of the lumbar support according to the invention with a backrest of a seat, the seat preferably being selected from the group comprising: chair, office chair, kitchen chair, folding chair, armchair, car seat, truck seat, tractor seat, construction vehicle seat , airplane seat, ship or boat seat, vehicle seat, hunting seat and fishing seat.
