Definitions

  • the invention relates to a lacquering device and a method for lacquering pens, in particular pens that are wood-cased or have a sheath made of a wood substitute material, a so-called wood-plastic compound, for writing, painting and/or cosmetic purposes.
  • pencils that are wood-cased or have a sheath made of a wood substitute material in particular pencils and/or colored pencils, but also cosmetic pencils, are lacquered in a piercing process, in which a pencil is pushed through a lacquer container filled with lacquer.
  • Flowable, highly viscous paints are used here, which usually show thixotropic behavior.
  • the pins are pushed through the paint container in a lower region of the paint container in quick succession. Thick layers of paint on the surface of the pen are not possible in the present case, since after the pen has pierced through the paint container, the paint applied to the surface of the pen must dry within a few seconds so that the pins do not stick.
  • the pins are usually applied to drying belts, so-called polishing belts, which are several meters long.
  • the relatively thin paint films do not provide complete coverage of the wood structure, which means that the paint application and the subsequent drying on the drying belt have to be repeated several times. Colored paint is usually applied between three and seven times. Finally, a transparent clear coat is applied in one to three coats of paint.
  • U.S. 2003/118721 A1 discloses a method of applying glitter to cylindrical articles by forcing them through a vat of clear coat, squeegeeing the coating to a desired thickness, and then immediately passing the articles through a vat of glitter. The items then go through a vacuum tube that removes the excess glitter for reuse.
  • EP 0 834 351 A1 discloses a method in which paint or varnish is applied to the outside of elongate members, such as pencils, by passing the pencils through a container of paint or varnish, the pencils exiting the container through a washer containing it allowing the pencils to leave the container with a coating of paint or varnish on its exterior, and then passing the pencils through a light box capable of applying light to any point on the exterior of each pencil, revealing the paint or varnish contains a resin having the property that curing of the resin is initiated in response to application of the light.
  • the invention is therefore based on the object of specifying a device and a method for painting pens which at least largely overcomes the aforementioned disadvantages, in particular in order to improve the quality of the painted surface and bring about a reduction in the number of painting processes.
  • the first-mentioned object is achieved by a painting device having the features according to claim 1.
  • Advantageous refinements and developments genes are specified in the respective dependent claims.
  • the painting device according to the invention for painting pencils, in particular wood-cased pencils or pencils with a casing made of a wood substitute material for writing, painting and/or cosmetic purposes comprises at least a first and a second paint container, the at least two paint containers each having an inlet and outlet opening , through which the pen enters and exits the paint container, the at least two paint containers being arranged one behind the other in order to apply paint to a surface of the pin at least twice in one painting process, the paint containers being filled with water-based paint or a paint based on organic solvents .
  • One advantage of the painting device according to the invention is that the at least two painting steps in just one painting process, i.e. without the pin lying on a drying belt between the painting steps, allow unevenness on the pin surface to be better covered even during a first painting process.
  • an improvement in the painting quality and, in addition, a reduction in the number of painting processes compared to conventional painting devices is possible.
  • the wording “arranged one behind the other” is to be understood as meaning that the inlet and outlet openings of the paint containers lie along an axis in the piercing direction, so that a pin can be moved in a straight line through all the paint containers.
  • the painting device has a common platform on which the paint containers are arranged one behind the other.
  • the paint containers are filled with water-based paint or paint based on organic solvents.
  • water is the main solvent; in the case of paints based on organic solvents, the solvents used are mainly ketones such as acetone, but also alcohols and/or esters.
  • the paint containers of the painting device can each contain the same paint or different paints.
  • the painting device comprises at least one third paint container, the third paint container being arranged behind the first two paint containers. Furthermore, a fourth, fifth, sixth or further paint container can be provided, which are each arranged one behind the other. This further improves the result of a painting process.
  • At least one stripping element which has a through-opening through which the pin is pushed, is preferably arranged at the outlet opening of the first and/or the second and/or the third and/or a further paint container.
  • This wiping element serves in particular to wipe off excess paint so that only a thin, quick-drying paint film remains on the surface of the pen.
  • the respective paint container is sealed off from the pen via the stripping element.
  • surfaces can be smoothed and/or polished with it.
  • the stripping element can, in the simplest case, have an annular through-opening.
  • the at least one wiping element preferably has on its inner circumferential surface radially inwardly projecting wiping areas for at least partially wiping paint off the surface of the pin and recesses delimiting the wiping areas in the circumferential direction.
  • the stripping areas extend parallel to the piercing direction and are flanked by the recesses or indentations which also run in the piercing direction.
  • excess paint can only be removed from partial areas of the surface of the pen by means of the protruding wiping areas.
  • a stripping element arranged on the outlet opening of the first paint container and/or a stripping element arranged on the outlet opening of the second paint container and/or a stripping element arranged on the outlet opening of the third paint container and/or a further stripping element on the outlet opening Paint container arranged stripping element differ from each other, in particular in such a way that the stripping areas of the stripping elements have a different extent and/or position in relation to the paint container in relation to the circumferential direction and/or in the radial direction and/or that the inner peripheral surfaces of the stripping areas have a different curvature exhibit.
  • the stripping areas have an extent that is complementary to the surfaces or edges of the pin.
  • the geometry of the wiping areas can be used to set how much and where paint is to be wiped off the surface of the pen.
  • the at least one stripping element preferably contains an elastic material, for example rubber.
  • the at least one stripping element consists at least partially of an elastic material.
  • a development of the invention provides that after the first paint container and/or after the second paint container and/or after the third paint container and/or after a further paint container, a drying device, which is in particular ring-shaped, to dry the paint on the surface of the pen being able to dry evenly from all sides, for example an infrared radiator and/or hot air nozzles.
  • a drying device which is in particular ring-shaped, to dry the paint on the surface of the pen being able to dry evenly from all sides, for example an infrared radiator and/or hot air nozzles.
  • This allows the initially applied paint film to dry slightly, so that a larger amount of paint can be applied in the immediately following painting step within the same painting process.
  • This enables a higher number of pins to be punctured by the painting device or an increase in the amount of paint on the pin per paint container that is passed through.
  • the third paint container is preferably also filled with water-based paint or a paint based on organic solvents.
  • the paint containers of the painting device can each contain the same paint or different paints. For example, there can be water-based paint in the first and second paint container and a paint based on organic solvents in the third paint container.
  • the first and second paint can be the same or different.
  • the method thus includes a painting process with at least a first painting step (steps a) and b)) and a second painting step (steps c) and d)).
  • the painting process comprises at least a third or a further painting step, in which the pen is pushed through a third paint container or a further paint container for the application of a third or further paint and the third or further paint is partially or completely at the outlet opening of the third or further Paint container is stripped.
  • the partial or complete stripping of paint is preferably carried out by a stripping element arranged at the outlet opening of the first paint container and/or at the outlet opening of the second paint container and/or at the outlet opening of the third paint container and/or at the outlet opening of a further paint container.
  • the partial or complete stripping of paint at the outlet openings of the paint container is carried out by differently designed stripping elements, in particular by a stripping element for stripping off Paint from a first surface area of the pen and a stripping element for stripping paint from a second surface area of the pen.
  • the first and second surface areas of the pin can correspond to the faces and edges of the pin.
  • the wiping elements have wiping areas that protrude radially inward and extend in the circumferential direction, which differ in particular in relation to the circumferential direction and/or in the radial direction in extent and/or position in relation to the paint container and/or in the curvature of the inner circumferential surfaces, and these flanking recesses.
  • the wiping elements have, in particular, wiping areas which protrude further radially inward in order to completely wipe the paint off the surface of the pin at these points.
  • a further development of the method provides that after the partial or complete stripping of the paint at the outlet opening of the first paint container and/or at the outlet opening of the second paint container and/or at the outlet opening of the third paint container and/or at the outlet opening of a further paint container Intermediate drying takes place in order to slightly dry the initially applied paint film. As a result, a larger quantity of paint can be applied in the painting step that takes place immediately thereafter within the same painting process.
  • the intermediate drying takes place, for example, with a drying device designed in the form of a ring, for example with an infrared radiator and/or hot-air nozzles.
  • Steps a) to e) of the method according to the invention can be repeated at least once.
  • FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 show a painting device 1a with a first paint container 2a and a second paint container 2b, which are arranged on a common platform 3. Both behind the first paint container 2a and behind the second paint container 2b, a stripping element 4a, 4b encompassing the outlet opening of the paint container 2a, 2b is arranged.
  • the stripping elements 4a, 4b described in more detail below differ in the extension and curvature of their stripping areas 7a, 7b and are FIG. 5A and 5B as in FIG. 6A and 6B shown in more detail.
  • a pen 5 to be painted which is in FIG. 7 is shown, is first pushed through the first paint container 2a in order to apply a first paint. Excess paint is wiped off the surface 8a of the pin 5 with the aid of the stripping element 4a arranged at the outlet opening of the first paint container 2a. The pin 5 is then pushed through the second paint container 2b, excess paint being stripped off the surface 8b of the pin 5 with the aid of the stripping element 4b arranged at the outlet opening of the second paint container 2b.
  • the stripping elements 4a, 4b differ in the extension and curvature of their stripping areas 7a, 7b as in FIG FIG. 5A and 5B as in FIG. 6A and 6B shown in more detail.
  • the pin 5 then dries on a drying belt, which is not explicitly shown. The procedure described is repeated at least once.
  • FIG. 3 a second embodiment of a painting device 1b is shown, in which, in addition to the FIG. 1 and 2 illustrated first embodiment between the first paint container 2a and the second paint container 2b, a drying device 6 is arranged to the paint in the first container 2a applied paint to dry slightly before the pin 5 is pushed through the second paint container 2b.
  • a drying device 6 is arranged to the paint in the first container 2a applied paint to dry slightly before the pin 5 is pushed through the second paint container 2b.
  • intermediate drying is thus carried out as an additional step to the method described above by means of the drying device 6 between the two painting steps within a painting process.
  • the drying device 6 is ring-shaped in the present case, so that the pin 5 can be pushed through it in order to evenly dry the paint film on the surface of the pin 5 .
  • the drying device 6 can be arranged or fastened, for example, on the common platform 3, which is 3 is shown in dashed lines.
  • FIG. 4 shows a third embodiment of a painting device 1c, in which a third paint container 2c is also arranged behind the second paint container 2b.
  • the illustrated embodiment includes two also ring-shaped drying devices 6, which are arranged between the first paint container 2a and the second paint container 2b and between the second paint container 2b and the third paint container 2c.
  • drying device 6 After the pin 5 has been pushed through the first paint container 2a and after it has been pushed through the second paint container 2b, intermediate drying takes place by means of a drying device 6 . Also according to FIG 4 For example, the drying device 6 is arranged on the common platform 3, which is also shown in dashed lines.
  • the wiping element 4a which has wiping areas 7a projecting inwards in a radial direction R and extending in the circumferential direction U on its inner peripheral surface, and wiping areas 7a and recesses 9a which delimit the wiping areas 7a from one another in the circumferential direction U, having.
  • the stripping areas 7a are shaped in such a way or have a curvature that is complementary to the surface area 8a of the pin 5, so that the stripping of paint from the surface areas 8a of the in FIG. 7 shown pin 5, which correspond to the side surfaces of the pin 5, is possible.
