Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for mangling and folding items of laundry according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the invention also relates to a device for mangling and folding items of laundry according to the preamble of claim 2.
- the folding blades arranged next to one another are operated independently.
- the several adjacent folding swords require a special design of the folding machine.
- a special control of the Folding machine required in order to be able to operate the folding machine on one or more lanes by operating the folding swords together or independently.
- Working widths of at least 5 m are required to iron and fold large items of laundry, in particular king-size flat items of laundry, transversely, i.e. with larger dimensions running transversely to the feed and ironing direction (hereinafter referred to as “length”).
- length i.e. with larger dimensions running transversely to the feed and ironing direction
- folding machines These have belt conveyors with circulating folding belts, the working width of which must extend over the entire working width of the mangle, at least in the area of a first folding station.
- the endless folding belts are deflected on slim rollers with relatively small diameters. Since these deflection rollers must not sag, the working widths of folding machines are limited for reasons of stability. It is therefore not possible to iron large items of laundry crosswise, although the mangles could have a correspondingly large working width due to their design.
- the invention is now based on the object of creating a method and a device with which it is possible not only to mangle large items of laundry in a transverse direction, but also to fold them.
- the ironed items of laundry are folded by several, preferably two, folding machines grouped next to one another in a twin arrangement simultaneously or alternatively simultaneously or also independently of one another.
- the simultaneous folding of a respective item of laundry takes place continuously on the folding machines arranged next to one another.
- the folding machines fold the respective item of laundry together simultaneously and synchronously.
- the folding machines lying next to one another form at least one continuous multi-track folding surface lying in one plane in order to fold a large item of laundry together and simultaneously or a respective item of laundry.
- a working width is created which corresponds to the sum of the working widths of each of the folding machines arranged next to one another.
- the simultaneous folding of the respective item of laundry on the several folding machines arranged next to one another makes it possible to fold items of laundry that take up the entire working width of the at least one mangle after mangling, in that the arrangement of several folding machines next to one another leads to a working width, as it were, that of the at least one mangle corresponds to a defect.
- the items of laundry are optionally folded together by folding machines arranged next to one another, preferably simultaneously, at the same time, equally and/or simultaneously, or in the case of folding machines operated independently of one another, optionally with a time delay. It is thus possible to alternately mangle and fold larger or smaller items of laundry, in that items of laundry that at least take up almost the working width of the mangle(s) in question are also folded using the folding machines arranged next to one another and coupled, with a working width corresponding to the at least one mangle be able. If, in the case of smaller items of laundry, the respective mangle is operated in multiple lanes, it is possible to also operate the folding machine in multiple lanes, in that the folding machines lying next to one another remain physically coupled, but are operated independently and/or individually.
- each of the folding machines arranged next to one another can fold items of laundry from different lanes or the respective mangle at different times, namely precisely when a mangleed item of laundry leaves a lane of the mangle in question.
- the folding machines arranged next to one another are preferably connected to one another and/or coupled together, as a result of which a multi-lane folding machine with the working width of the single mangle or of several consecutive mangles is produced.
- a device for solving the problem mentioned at the outset has the features of claim 2 . Accordingly, the at least one deficiency is followed by several folding machines arranged next to one another. With the folding machines arranged next to one another, large ironed items of laundry can also be folded, which take up at least the entire working width of the at least one ironer. By arranging several folding machines next to each other, the rollers for deflecting and/or driving the folding belts can have shorter lengths. As a result, the stability of the folding machines does not suffer when their working width increases.
- each of the folding machines arranged next to one another has at least one drive of its own, with the drives being able to be driven equally synchronously if the folding width is to correspond to the working width of the at least one mangle, i.e. large items of laundry are to be folded, possibly also transversely. It is provided that there is a choice between synchronous and independent operation of the drives of the folding machines arranged next to one another. This means that large items of laundry can be ironed and folded in one lane, or smaller items of laundry can be ironed and folded in several lanes.
- Individual operation of the folding machines arranged next to one another means that smaller items of laundry can then also be folded in multiple lanes after the multi-lane mangling, in that a folding machine is arranged downstream of the at least one mangle by a separate drive of the folding machines arranged next to one another, the drive of which is matched to the ironer upstream of it.
- This allows a flexible and universal use of the device for mangling both large and small items of laundry or oblong and/or transverse mangling and folding of the items of laundry.
- drives for the at least one folding belt are assigned to outer sides of two folding machines arranged next to one another. With two folding machines side by side, each outer side of a folding machine is freely accessible and offers space for at least one drive on each side. In principle, these drives can be designed in exactly the same way as they are customary in the individual folding machines.
- the folding machines arranged next to each other thus form a unit, a quasi-rigid unit.
- the working width can extend functionally or continuously over the folding machines that are coupled together and/or connected to one another for this purpose.
- mutually facing sides of deflection and/or drive drums of folding belts of the folding machines arranged next to one another are mounted together on bearings arranged between the or respectively adjacent folding machines, preferably at least mostly stationary bearings, by means of at least one bearing frame, for example.
- the folding machines arranged side by side are mechanically coupled together.
- a preferably designed device has identically designed folding machines arranged next to one another.
- these folding machines have the same working widths.
- a tandem folding machine can be formed from folding machines of the same design arranged next to one another, which is of the same design throughout over the working widths of the folding machines arranged next to one another and performs the same folding schemes and folding processes.
- the part of the item of laundry to be folded lying on one folding machine is thus folded in exactly the same way as the part of the item of laundry lying on the other folding machine.
- the parts of the respective item of laundry lying on the folding machines arranged next to one another can be folded at the same time, simultaneously and in the same way.
- the several folding machines arranged next to one another then fold the item of laundry in the same way as a folding machine with a working width which would be as wide as the sum of the working widths of the individual folding machines arranged next to one another.
- the sum of the working widths of all folding machines arranged next to one another corresponds at least to the working width of the single mangle or the several mangles arranged one behind the other.
- Large items of laundry, which extend over more than half the working width of the mangle or mangles, can be folded by the folding machines arranged next to one another with the same or substantially the same working width after the single or last mangle.
- the device is advantageously designed in such a way that at least the strands of the folding belts of the adjacent folding machines that come into contact with the items of laundry lie in the same plane.
- the width of this at least one level results in the entire working width of the folding machines arranged next to one another, which preferably corresponds to the working width of the at least one defect or can also be somewhat larger or smaller.
- ironed items of laundry can also be folded with the same working width immediately after ironing.
- the device shown has a mangle 10 and two subsequent folding machines 11 and 12 arranged next to one another.
- An input machine (not shown in the figures) can be provided in front of the mangle 10, which spreads out the items of laundry and, in the unfolded state, feeds them to the mangle 10 via a feed conveyor 13.
- the mangle 10 is a so-called sliver mangle.
- the device can also have mangles of other types, for example trough mangles.
- a single mangle 10 is shown in front of the folding machines 11, 12 in the figures.
- the device can also have several successive mangles 10 . This can involve the same mangles, for example sliver mangles, or different mangles, such as a sliver mangle or a trough mangle.
- the device can also have several successive troughed mangles or a troughed mangle with several mangle rollers arranged one behind the other and mangle troughs assigned to them.
- the items of laundry not shown in the figures are preferably flat items of laundry such as tablecloths, bed sheets, bed covers or the like.
- the device according to the invention is designed to mangle and fold only or also very large items of laundry, so-called king-size flat laundry, especially large tablecloths and king-size bed sheets or bed covers.
- the device according to the invention is intended to also mangle and fold large items of laundry transversely. Then the large, transversely directed laundry items with long edges running transversely to the ironing direction 14 pass through both the ironer 10 or several ironers 10 following one another in the ironer direction 14 and, at the same time, in the ironer direction 14 following the ironer 10 or the last ironer 10, folding machines 11 and 12 arranged next to one another , to be folded together by them.
- the Ironer 10 has a working width that allows large items of laundry, especially king-size flat laundry, to be ironed with long, crosswise edges.
- a mangle 10 can have a working width of 5 m or more.
- the folding of the items of laundry takes place with the same working width, for which purpose the two folding machines 11 and 12 are arranged in tandem or in two lanes next to one another in order to have a working width that corresponds to the working width of the mangle 10 or mangles 10 .
- the mangle 10 designed as a sliver mangle in the illustrated embodiment has a heatable, preferably cylindrical mangle body 15, which can be stationary, but can also be driven to rotate about a horizontal longitudinal central axis.
- the cylindrical mangle body 15 in the present case is mostly surrounded on the outside by part of an endless mangle belt 16 that runs over the entire working width of the mangle 10 .
- the mangle band 16 is guided around a deflection drum 18 from the outside to the heatable mangle body 15. From the inlet area 17 the mangle sliver 16 extends under external contact with the outer surface of the mangle body 15 to a deflection drum 19 at the outlet area 20 of the mangle 10, where the mangle sliver 16 is derived from the mangle body 15 again.
- the wrap angle can be 270° to 340°.
- the mangle sliver 16 derived from the mangle body 15 by the deflection drum 19 in the outlet area 20 is guided back around the outside of the mangle body 15 via deflection drums 21 to 24 to the deflection drum 18 at the infeed area 17.
- At least one of the deflection drums 18, 19, 21, 22, 23 and/or 24 is provided with a drive.
- the mangle belt 16 is driven in such a way that the respective item of laundry slides along the outside of the heated wall of the mangle body 15 from the inlet area 17 to the outlet area 20 while being entrained by the ironer belt.
- the respective item of laundry is ironed, namely smoothed and dried as far as possible.
- the item of laundry spread out, for example, by the input machine (not shown) is fed by the feed conveyor 13 to the inlet area 17 of the mangle 10 .
- the ironed item of laundry leaving the outlet area 20 of the ironer 10 is transferred from the section of the ironer belt 16 that is fed back over the ironer body 15 over the ironer body 15 in the ironing direction 14 to a discharge conveyor 25 that follows the deflection drum 22 and then follows in the ironing direction 14.
- the ironed item of laundry is fed from the removal conveyor 25 to the folding machines 11 and 12 in the ironing direction 14 .
- the discharge conveyor 25 serves at the same time as a feed conveyor for ironed items of laundry to the folding machines 11 and 12.
- the two folding machines 11, 12 following the mangle 10 in the mangle direction 14 are identical.
- both folding machines 11 and 12 have the same working width 26.
- the two folding machines 11 and 12 are arranged in mirror image next to one another, specifically in relation to a longitudinal center axis 27 of mangle 10 running in direction of ironing 14.
- This longitudinal center axis 27 runs centrally through the working width 28 of the Defect 10.
- the two identical folding machines 11 and 12 are arranged in a mirror-image relative arrangement on opposite sides of the longitudinal center axis 27 ( 3 ).
- the same working widths 26 of both folding machines 11 and 12 are almost as large as the working width 28 of the mangle 10 in the exemplary embodiment shown. It is also conceivable to choose the sum of the working widths 26 of both folding machines 11 and 12 so that they are identical to the working width 28 the defect is 10 or slightly more.
- Each of the folding machines 11 and 12, which are of the same design, has a plurality of folding elements, which are preferably designed as circulating belt conveyors.
- An endless conveyor belt of the respective belt conveyor 29 can therefore be referred to as a folding belt 30.
- two belt conveyors 29 are arranged relative to one another in such a way that a folding gap 31 is created between them.
- a part of the item of laundry to be folded is first moved up onto the folding belt 30 of this belt conveyor 29, so that by subsequently reversing the direction of rotation of the reversible belt conveyor 29, the item of laundry is transported through the folding gap 31 in two layers or with twice the number of layers and is thereby folded, preferably folded transversely , Is, preferably supported by folding swords not shown in the figures.
- the fold line around the parts of the item of laundry is folded by 180° by two interacting folding belts 30, transversely or longitudinally to the direction of passage of the items of laundry through the folding machines 11 and 12, which corresponds to the ironing direction 14, one speaks of a transverse fold or one longitudinal fold.
- the fold line runs transversely to the direction of passage or mangle 14, in the case of a longitudinal fold, longitudinally thereto.
- the folding machines 11 and 12 are designed in such a way that they carry out at least one, preferably several transverse folds and preferably also at least one longitudinal fold of the item of laundry. Initially there is at least one transverse fold, as a result of which the length of the item of laundry in the ironing direction 14 and the folding direction corresponding thereto in the transverse fold is shortened, in particular halved.
- the endless folding belts 30 of each belt conveyor 29 are deflected around at least two parallel deflection drums 32, of which one deflection drum 32 of each belt conveyor 29 can be driven.
- deflection drums 32 which extend over the entire width, in particular the working width 26, of the respective folding machine 11, 12, are provided with a relatively small diameter for space reasons, but also to improve the folding quality, making the deflection drums 32 relatively slim.
- the deflection drums 32 can only have a limited length, as a result of which the working width in the folding machine 11, 12 is also limited. That is the reason why, according to the invention, two folding machines 11, 12 are arranged next to one another, so that together they correspond to the working width 28 of the mangle 10 (or are somewhat smaller or somewhat larger).
- the deflection drums 32 of the belt conveyors 29 of the folding machines 11 and 12 are mounted on a stationary, frame-like bearing frame 33 with outer ends on outer sides 34 of the folding machines 11, 12.
- These bearing frames 33 lie in vertical planes which run parallel to the central longitudinal axis 27 of the mangle 10 and the folding machines 11, 12.
- the ends of the deflection drums 32 of both folding machines 11 and 12 are jointly mounted on a bearing frame 36 on inner sides 35 of the folding machines 11 and 12 that point toward one another, which runs in a vertical plane through the longitudinal central axis 27 of the mangle 10 and centrally between the outer bearing frames 33.
- the two folding machines 11, 12 arranged next to one another are coupled and/or connected to one another and thereby linked on or with the central bearing frame 36.
- As shown in the 4 adjacent deflection drums 32 of the folding machines 11, 12 arranged next to one another are rotatably mounted on a preferably fixed axis 37.
- This common axis 37 extends over the total width of the side-by-side folding machines 11 and 12, i.e. their common working width 26.
- Outer ends of the axle 37 are supported (not shown) in the outer bearing frames 33 on opposite outer sides 34 of the folding machines 11 and 12, while according to FIG 4 a central area of the axis 37 extending continuously across the width of both folding machines 11 and 12 is supported in the central bearing frame 36 .
- an outer bearing frame 33 and the middle bearing frame 36 form a support for one half of the axle 37, which extends across the width of a folding machine 11 and 12, respectively, while the other half part of the axle 37, which extends across the width of the adjacent folding machine 11 and 12, respectively, is supported between the other outer bearing frame 33 of this adjacent folding machine 11 and 12, respectively, and the central bearing frame 36.
- all tail drums 32 and/or each transverse folding station 38, 39, 40 of the folding machines 11 and 12 are mounted on the bearing frames 33 and 36 and/or supported in the bearing frames 33, 36.
- the folding machines 11 and 12 shown in the figures also have three transverse folding stations 38, 39 and 40 that follow one another in the mangle direction 14 and at least one longitudinal folding station 41 that follows 39 and then the transverse folding station 40 transversely folded once (with fold lines running transversely to the mangle direction 14) and then in the longitudinal folding station 41 the previously transversely folded item of laundry is folded at least once longitudinally.
- the invention is not limited to the folding machine 11, 12 shown and described above.
- the invention is also suitable for folding machines 11, 12 with a smaller or larger number of transverse folding stations 38, 39 and 40.
- the Transversal folding stations 38, 39, 40 and/or the at least one longitudinal folding station 41 can be configured differently than previously described and shown in the figures.
- the method according to the invention is based on the device described above Figures 1 to 4 explained in more detail:
- the items of laundry are first ironed by the mangle 10 and then, viewed in the mangle direction 14, transported to the two identical folding machines 11 and 12 which are arranged next to one another in a twin configuration.
- the folding machines 11 and 12 fold the mangled item of laundry simultaneously, specifically at least once transversely and then preferably also at least once longitudinally.
- the items of laundry pass through the transverse folding stations 38, 39, 40, which are located next to one another like the folding machines 11 and 12, in the ironing direction 14. an extension of the same.
- folding machines 11 and 12 arranged next to one another form a twin track which extends overall over a working width 26 which corresponds to the working width 28 of the mangle 10 or is somewhat smaller or larger.
- the folding belts 30 of the belt conveyors 29 of the folding machines 11 and 12 complement each other in such a way that adjacent folding belts 30, which are driven at the same speed and are located in at least one of the same planes, are jointly involved in the folding process, in particular during the at least one initial transverse fold of the mangle 10 upcoming laundry.
- the two folding machines 11 and 12 arranged next to one another simultaneously fold the respective item of laundry extending over the folding belts 30 of both folding machines 11 and 12 during the synchronous drive of both similar folding machines 11 and 12 arranged next to one another in a tandem arrangement.
- the ironed items of laundry can also be folded in two lanes are folded by the laundry items of one web of mangle 10 from one folding machine 11 and the laundry items of the adjacent web of mangle 10 from the other, adjacent folding machine 12. Because the folding machine consists of two independent folding machines 11 and 12 arranged next to one another in a twin or tandem configuration, the folding of the items of laundry on the individual lanes, i.e.
- folding machine 11 on the one hand and folding machine 12 on the other can take place independently of one another in the two-lane mode of operation , so that the folding of smaller items of laundry, in contrast to larger items of laundry that do not allow two-track folding, does not necessarily have to take place simultaneously and/or synchronously in the two-track mode of operation.
- the folding machines 11 and 12 can also be driven at different speeds in the two-lane mode of operation for folding smaller items of laundry, so that the folding speeds are different.
- two-lane operation of the folding machines 11 and 12 to fold the items of laundry from the folding machines 11 and 12 according to different folding schemes, for example to carry out several transverse folds on one folding machine 11 than on the other folding machine 12. This is particularly useful if the two-lane ironed items of laundry are of different sizes.
- two folding machines 11 and 12 arranged next to one another are provided.
- the invention is not limited to this. More than two folding machines can also be arranged next to one another, for example three folding machines arranged next to one another.
