Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a stirrup intended for riding.
  • the invention relates to a stirrup making it possible to increase the safety of the rider, by reducing the risk of injury in the event of a fall from the horse.
  • Riding saddles are usually fitted with two stirrups, carried by the saddle via leather straps called stirrups.
  • a stirrup generally has an eye, intended for the passage of the stirrup, which is connected to a flat base called the floor, where the sole of the rider rests, by means of one or two branches, which laterally run along the rider's foot. .
  • a classic stirrup which has two branches, thus surrounds the rider's foot.
  • the object of the present invention is to overcome these drawbacks of the prior art.
  • the present invention aims to provide a safety stirrup intended for the practice of horse riding, which reliably ensures the release of the rider's foot when the latter falls from his mount.
  • Another objective of the invention is to provide such a stirrup which, during its normal use, ensures effective maintenance of the rider's foot without inadvertent opening of one. of its branches.
  • Yet another objective of the invention is to offer such a caliper which can present an aesthetic appearance close to that of conventional calipers.
  • said second lateral branch in said position of use, is secured to said second end of said floor by magnetic attraction.
  • the second lateral branch can easily pass into an open position to release the rider's foot, independently of the direction of the pressure exerted by this foot, from the inside of the stirrup, on the second lateral branch.
  • the latter can be held in place effectively by the magnetic attraction, which at the same time ensures the maintenance and the correct positioning of this second lateral branch with respect to the second end of the floor, while allowing separation in several directions.
  • said ball joint is formed by an elastic cord tending to bring a surface of said upper portion and a surface of said second lateral branch closer to one another.
  • Such a ball joint connection can be implemented easily.
  • Said surface of said upper portion and said surface of said second lateral branch have complementary shapes capable of maintaining said second lateral branch in said position of use, when these surfaces are in contact.
  • the ball joint itself participates in the correct positioning of the second lateral branch in the position of use.
  • This positioning action complementary to the magnetic attraction, ensures good maintenance in the position of use of the second lateral branch despite its many degrees of freedom.
  • Said surface of said lateral branch has a centering stud, and said surface of said upper portion has an imprint of a shape complementary to the shape of said centering stud, said centering stud being introduced, in said position of use, into said footprint.
  • Said centering stud has a triangular section.
  • said second end of said floor has a first magnet
  • said second lateral branch has a second magnet
  • said first magnet and said second magnet being polarized so as to be joined by magnetic attraction, in said position of. use of said second side branch.
  • the attraction of the magnets ensures the maintenance of the second lateral branch in the position of use, and the centering of the magnets with respect to one another guarantees good positioning of the second lateral branch.
  • the attraction of these magnets makes it possible to return the second lateral branch to its correct position of use, if it is removed from it by a small distance, regardless of the direction of this removal.
  • said first magnet is integrated in a first contact surface of said second end of said floor
  • said second magnet is integrated in a second contact surface of said second lateral branch, said first contact surface and said second contact surface having complementary shapes to each other.
  • said first contact surface and said second contact surface have shapes allowing said second contact surface to move relative to said first contact surface, from said position of use, in a plurality of directions.
  • the complementary shapes of the contact surfaces can thus participate in the correct positioning of the second lateral branch, without hindering its opening when the rider's foot exerts sufficient pressure on it from inside the stirrup, regardless of the direction of this. pressure.
  • the figures 1 and 3 show a caliper 1 according to one embodiment of the invention.
  • this bracket 1 is seen from the front, that is to say in the position it presents when the jumper who normally uses it is seen from the front.
  • this bracket 1 is seen from the side, in the position it presents when we see the left side of the rider who uses it normally.
  • this caliper 1 is a left caliper, so that the figure 3 represents a view of its external side. The following description of this caliper can however also apply, mutatis mutandis, to a straight caliper.
  • the front is called the direction of advance of the horse during normal use of the stirrup
  • the rear the opposite direction
  • the internal direction the oriented direction. towards the horse when in use normal of the caliper
  • the external direction the reverse direction.
  • the term “end”, in the present application designates the portion of a component of the yoke which is close to its extreme limit.
  • This stirrup 1 comprises a flattened horizontal branch forming a floor 11, which is intended to receive the sole of a rider.
  • This floor 11 is advantageously covered, on its upper face, by a non-slip coating 110.
  • the floor 11 is connected, at its first end, or internal end 111, to a first lateral branch, or internal lateral branch 13, and to the level of its second end, or external end 112, to a second lateral branch, or external lateral branch 2.
  • the internal lateral branch 13 and the external lateral branch 2 rise, from the floor, to an upper portion 12 of the stirrup which brings together the upper ends of the two side branches.
  • An opening, called eye 120 allows the passage of the stirrup (not shown), leather strap attached to the saddle and carrying the stirrup.
  • the internal lateral branch 13 is intended, in use, to be placed on the side of the rider's foot which faces the horse.
  • This internal lateral branch 13 is a fixed branch which rigidly connects the floor 11 to the upper portion 12 of the stirrup.
  • the outer lateral branch 2 is intended, in use, to be placed on the side of the rider's foot opposite to the horse.
  • This external lateral branch 2 is, according to the invention, a movable branch. In the configuration of use of the caliper 1, represented by the figures 1 and 3 , it extends in its position of use, between the outer lateral end 112 of the floor 11 and the upper portion 12. Thus, the floor 11, the lateral branches 13 and 2, and the upper portion 12, form a ring in which the rider places his foot.
  • the caliper 1 can be made of aluminum.
  • the upper portion 12, the inner side branch 13 and the floors 11 are preferably reinforced with steel rods, giving them the necessary strength.
  • the figures 2 and 4 show the same bracket 1, respectively in front view and in side view, in open configurations in which the side branch external 2 is in open positions, distinct from its position of use represented by the figures 1 and 3 .
  • the upper end 23 of the external lateral branch 2 is linked to the upper portion 12 of the stirrup by a ball joint.
  • This ball joint allows pivoting of the outer side branch 2, relative to the upper portion 12, in any direction without being constrained by an axis of rotation.
  • this outer lateral branch 2 can pivot away from the internal branch 13, like the represents the figure 2 , forward, as represented by the figure 4 , backwards or in any intermediate direction.
  • This ball joint ensures effective release of the rider's foot, in the event of a fall, regardless of the orientation of the pressure that his foot exerts on the outer side branch 2. It therefore prevents jamming that could cause serious accidents. .
  • the bracket 1 comprises a device for positioning the lower end 22 of the outer side branch 2 relative to the outer end 112 of the floor 11 of the stirrup, implementing a magnetic attraction integrating, in a reversible manner, the outer side branch 2 at the outer end of the floor 11.
  • This positioning device comprises a first magnet 1121 integrated in the outer end 112 of the floor 11 and able to cooperate with a second magnet 221 integrated in the lower end 22 of the outer side branch 2.
  • the outer end 112 of the floor 11 has a first contact surface 1120, particularly visible on the figure 4
  • the lower end 22 of the outer lateral branch 2 has a second contact surface 220, particularly visible on the figure 5 .
  • These two contact surfaces are intended to be in contact with one another, in the use configuration of the caliper 1, and have complementary shapes such that they neither prevent movement of the lateral branch.
  • external 2 in the external direction, neither in the forward direction or in the rear direction.
  • a first magnet 1121 is inserted and fixed in a housing provided for this purpose in the first contact surface 1120, and a second magnet 221 is inserted and fixed in a housing provided for this purpose in the second contact surface 220.
  • These two magnets advantageously have complementary polarities, so as to attract each other and to be centered with respect to one another, in a position corresponding to the configuration of use of the caliper 1.
  • the magnets 221 and 1121 therefore ensure the maintenance of the outer side branch 2 in its position of use, and can also ensure the return of the outer side branch 2 in this position of use when it is slightly away from it, whatever the direction of this estrangement.
  • the power of these magnets 221 and 1121 is advantageously chosen to allow separation between the outer side branch 2 and the outer end 112 of the floor 11, under the effect of pressure on the outer side branch 2, which this pressure either in the outward direction, in the forward direction or in the backward direction.
  • the upper portion 12 of the caliper has a surface 121, intended to be in contact with a complementary surface 211 of the upper end 21 of the outer side branch 2, in the position of use of this outer side branch 2.
  • the surface 121 has a non-opening cylindrical hole 1210, drilled in the upper portion 12 of the caliper. This hole 1210 is intended to receive a first end of an elastic cord (not shown in the figures) which can be blocked in this hole 1210 by tightening a screw 122 opening into the hole 1210.
  • the surface 211 of the upper end 21 of the outer side branch 2 also has a cylindrical hole 2110 into which the second end of the elastic cord can be inserted.
  • This hole 2110 opens into a compartment 23, provided in the body of the outer lateral branch 2.
  • the second end of the elastic cord, opening into this compartment 23, can be stuck therein, for example by a knot, after the elastic cord has been stretched to the desired level of tension.
  • a cover 230 is then fixed on the rack 23 to close it and conceal it.
  • the elastic cord therefore tends to bring the surfaces 121 and 211 together, while allowing them to move apart, under the effect of a force stretching the cord, in order to allow angular movements of the external lateral branch 2.
  • the surface 211 has a centering stud 2111, which is here crossed by the hole 2110, and the surface 121 has an indentation 1211, in which the hole 1210 is drilled, and the shape of which is complementary to that of the stud 2111.
  • This stud 2111 and this recess 1211 make it possible to ensure a good positioning of the upper end 21 of the external lateral branch 2 with respect to the upper portion 12, in the configuration of use of the caliper 1.
  • the stud 2111 and the imprint 1211 have triangular sections, which constrain the external lateral branch 2 to a determined angular position, when it is in its position of use.
  • the stud 2111 and the recess 1211 have dimensions and shapes such that they do not interfere with the rotational movements of the external lateral branch 2 relative to the upper portion 12 of the caliper, when the passage of this outer lateral branch into an open position causes an elongation of the elastic cord.
