Definitions

  • the present invention generally finds application in the field of digging devices and tools and particularly relates to a rotating tool for cutting microtrenches.
  • Such machines are designed for laying fiber optic cables and are required to have a very small width, for less invasive digging and reconstruction of the road surface.
  • These tools typically comprise a disk-like body which rotates about a central axis, and a plurality of trenching peaks rigidly joined to the peripheral edge of the body. These peaks have a very small size, to limit the width of the trench.

  • a first drawback of this arrangement is that this tool can only partially limit the width of the trench.
  • a further drawback is that the particular shape and location of the peaks can only partially limit their wear during trenching.
