From the DE 10 2015 219 813 A1 a value or security document emerges which comprises a book cover and a book block which are connected to one another. The book block comprises a header, a personalized data page and other data pages that are sewn together. To connect the book block to the book cover, the Wet glue the entire surface of the attachment in order to glue the attachment to the book cover.

In the production of such a book-like value and / or security document, a wet glue is used to glue the attachment to the book cover. Such a value and / or security document can only be processed further after the wet glue has dried in order to avoid possible impairments.

From the DE 10 2015 107 684 A1 shows a book block and a book-like document as well as a method for their production. Between a book block and a book cover, a carrier made of a plastic film made of a thermoplastic polymer is provided, which after a heat treatment in which heat is supplied above the glass transition temperature of the thermoplastic polymer carrier, is cooled in the folded arrangement to a temperature below the glass transition temperature.

From the EP 3 092 131 A0 a method for producing a security document is known. To connect the book cover to the book block, a common water-soluble bookbinding glue is applied over the entire surface using nozzles in a wet process.

The invention is based on the object of proposing a method for producing a book-like value and / or security document as well as a book-like value and / or security document in which further processing is made possible within a very short time after the book cover and the book block have been connected.

This object is achieved by a method for producing a book-like value and / or security document, in which a hotmelt adhesive layer is applied in the liquid state to an inside of the book cover or to an outside of the attachment and the attachment and the book cover are aligned, brought together and permanently be connected to each other. By using the hotmelt adhesive layer, the attachment is glued to the book cover, which enables further processing after a short curing time. A heat input that is necessary for drying a wet glue would be required is not required. In addition, this method has the advantage that the attachment can be permanently and reliably glued to the book cover. After the hotmelt adhesive layer has hardened, reversible melting and re-gluing is no longer possible. This also increases the security against manipulation, since an attempt to separate the attachment and the book cover would result in destruction.

Furthermore, the hotmelt adhesive layer is applied over a width which is smaller than the width of the raw dimensions of the book cover or the attachment. This has the advantage that when the attachment and the book cover are brought together, a lateral flow of the hotmelt adhesive layer is stopped before the outer edges of the raw dimensions of the passport book cover are reached. This advantageously prevents the hotmelt adhesive layer from emerging from the side, which can lead to sticking or smearing of other parts of the system.

Furthermore, the hotmelt adhesive layer is applied with a length which is shorter than the length of the raw dimensions of the book cover and the attachment. This has the advantage, analogous to the advantageous embodiment described above, that the width of the hotmelt adhesive layer is smaller than the raw dimension of the width of the book cover or of the attachment.

Furthermore, the hotmelt adhesive layer is preferably applied to the book cover or the attachment in such a way that all outer edges of the hot melt adhesive layer are set back inwardly relative to the raw material of the book cover or the raw dimensions of the attachment. This advantageously prevents the hotmelt adhesive layer from emerging from the side with respect to all outer edges of the book cover or the offset when the book block is glued to the book cover, which in turn can increase process reliability.

The hotmelt adhesive layer is preferably applied to the book cover or the attachment with at least one applicator, in particular an application roller or nozzle. It is preferably provided that immediately after the application of the hot melt adhesive, the is preferably applied in a flowable state, then the book cover and the attachment are brought together so that the adhesive layer can subsequently cure quickly. This enables quick and easy processing. In particular, this can shorten the process time and increase productivity.

The book cover and the attachment are preferably connected to one another by roller lamination. As a result, a full-surface and permanent connection between the attachment and the book cover can be achieved without blistering.

Furthermore, after connecting the book block and the book cover, the document produced in raw dimensions is preferably cut to final dimensions in the opened or closed state. The cutting guide is preferably set back in relation to the outer edge of the attachment or the book cover in such a way that the cutting guide extends through the material web provided with adhesive when the document is cut or punched to its final dimensions. This ensures complete bonding of the front edges then produced between the attachment and the book cover.

A further advantageous embodiment of the method provides that the book block is formed from an attachment extending on both sides to the folding area of the book-like value and / or security document and at least one data page extending on both sides to the folding area and preferably a data carrier, in particular a personalization data page a tab is arranged which extends over the fold area. Such a structure of a book block can be securely integrated into the book cover through the material web with the double-sided hot melt adhesive layer.

Furthermore, the header, the at least one data page and preferably the tab of the personalization data page are preferably sewn and / or welded and / or laminated to one another. Advantageously, on an outside of the attachment facing the book cover to be glued, a reinforcement can also be provided in the fold area be introduced. This reinforcement can be designed as a paper strip, fabric strip, as a strip of plastic film or a combination thereof. This provides a secure connection of the individual data pages and the data carrier, in particular the personalization data page, to the book block.

The hot melt adhesive layer is preferably designed as a liquid reactive hot melt adhesive. For example, reactive polyether- or polyester-based polyurethanes or reactive polyolefins or a combination of these can be used. Preference is given to using hot melt adhesives that have a low application temperature, so that they are applied to the book cover or the attachment at a low application temperature, which is in the range of 50 ° C. and 210 ° C., in particular between 80 ° C. and 150 ° C. can be. Subsequently, when the hot-melt adhesive layer cools, the hot-melt adhesive layer simultaneously hardens, creating a permanent adhesive bond that cannot be detached or melted.

The transponder module 28 comprises an IC chip 32 and an antenna 31 connected to it, which consists of several windings and can preferably be printed on.

In Figure 2 a semi-finished product 35 is shown in perspective. This semi-finished product 35 can be both the book cover 12 and the book block 22. This semifinished product 35 has an application side 36. In the case of the book cover 12, this can be an inside of the book cover 12 or an inside of the book cover front 13 and the book cover back 14. In the case of the book block 22, the application side 36 is an outside of the attachment 18, which is provided for connecting the book block 22 to the inside of the book cover 12. On this application side 36, an application segment 37 is applied, which is formed by an applied hot melt adhesive layer. The hotmelt adhesive layer 43 is preferably applied to the application side 36 of the semi-finished product 35 in a liquid state. The application can be carried out using an applicator. This can be designed in the form of a nozzle or slot nozzle as well as in the form of an application roller or an application roller. A reactive hot melt adhesive is preferably used to form the hot melt adhesive layer 43, which reacts and hardens after application.

This application segment 37 has a format which is smaller than the application side 36 of the semifinished product 35. Each side edge 38 of the application segment 37 is set back inwardly with respect to an outer edge 39 of the semifinished product 35. As a result, a free edge section 41, 42 is formed on the semifinished product 35, which is free from the application segment 37, that is to say free from the hotmelt adhesive layer 43. Preferably, the edge section 41 along a longitudinal side of the semifinished product 36 is of the same width as an edge section 41 along a narrow side of the semifinished product 35.

The application segment 37 is applied to the semifinished product 35 as a full-area hotmelt adhesive layer 43.

To produce the book-like value and / or security document, either the inside of the book cover 12 or the outside of the attachment 18 of the book block 22 is fitted with this application segment 37 according to FIG Figure 2 Mistake. The book cover 12 and the book block 22 are then preferably aligned with one another in an open arrangement and then brought together and permanently connected to one another. The book cover 12 and the book block 22, which are connected to one another in the rough dimension by the adhesive connection, are brought to a final dimension. The shaping or format-defining separation process (for example water jet or other cutting, punching or milling) can be used in the open or closed state of the book-like document 11. The book-like document 11 is preferably closed in order to subsequently carry out the form-defining or format-determining separation process. The edge section 41, 42 of the application segment 37 is designed in relation to the raw size of the semifinished product 35 in such a way that in such a process of separating the book-like document 11 from the raw size to the finished size, the cutting or punching cut through the application segment 37 takes place. As a result, the resulting front edge is formed by an outer edge 39 of the book cover 12 and an outer edge of the attachment 18, which are glued together continuously through the hotmelt adhesive layer 43 and up to the respective front edge.

In Figure 3 FIG. 3 is a schematic sectional view taken along line III-III in FIG Figure 1 shown. This sectional view makes it clear that the application segment 37 extends after cutting or punching to the final format of the book-like document 11 up to the outer edge 39 of the attachment 18 of the front edge of the book cover 12.

The book block 22 can according to the embodiment in FIG Figure 3 additionally have a reinforcement strip 33. This reinforcement strip 33 can be connected to the book block 22 by the seam 30. The reinforcement strip 33 preferably consists of a paper layer, a fabric layer, a plastic layer or a combination thereof. This reinforcement strip 33 rests directly on an outside of the attachment 18. As a result, the fold area 15 can be reinforced and there can be increased security in the event of manipulation.
