The invention is based on the object of proposing a method for producing a book-like value and / or security document as well as a book-like value and / or security document in which further processing is made possible within a very short time after the book cover and the book block have been connected.
This object is achieved by a method for producing a book-like value and / or security document, in which a hotmelt adhesive layer is applied in the liquid state to an inside of the book cover or to an outside of the attachment and the attachment and the book cover are aligned, brought together and permanently be connected to each other. By using the hotmelt adhesive layer, the attachment is glued to the book cover, which enables further processing after a short curing time. A heat input that is necessary for drying a wet glue would be required is not required. In addition, this method has the advantage that the attachment can be permanently and reliably glued to the book cover. After the hotmelt adhesive layer has hardened, reversible melting and re-gluing is no longer possible. This also increases the security against manipulation, since an attempt to separate the attachment and the book cover would result in destruction.
Furthermore, the hotmelt adhesive layer is applied over a width which is smaller than the width of the raw dimensions of the book cover or the attachment. This has the advantage that when the attachment and the book cover are brought together, a lateral flow of the hotmelt adhesive layer is stopped before the outer edges of the raw dimensions of the passport book cover are reached. This advantageously prevents the hotmelt adhesive layer from emerging from the side, which can lead to sticking or smearing of other parts of the system.
Furthermore, the hotmelt adhesive layer is applied with a length which is shorter than the length of the raw dimensions of the book cover and the attachment. This has the advantage, analogous to the advantageous embodiment described above, that the width of the hotmelt adhesive layer is smaller than the raw dimension of the width of the book cover or of the attachment.
Furthermore, the hotmelt adhesive layer is preferably applied to the book cover or the attachment in such a way that all outer edges of the hot melt adhesive layer are set back inwardly relative to the raw material of the book cover or the raw dimensions of the attachment. This advantageously prevents the hotmelt adhesive layer from emerging from the side with respect to all outer edges of the book cover or the offset when the book block is glued to the book cover, which in turn can increase process reliability.
The hotmelt adhesive layer is preferably applied to the book cover or the attachment with at least one applicator, in particular an application roller or nozzle. It is preferably provided that immediately after the application of the hot melt adhesive, the is preferably applied in a flowable state, then the book cover and the attachment are brought together so that the adhesive layer can subsequently cure quickly. This enables quick and easy processing. In particular, this can shorten the process time and increase productivity.
The book cover and the attachment are preferably connected to one another by roller lamination. As a result, a full-surface and permanent connection between the attachment and the book cover can be achieved without blistering.
Furthermore, after connecting the book block and the book cover, the document produced in raw dimensions is preferably cut to final dimensions in the opened or closed state. The cutting guide is preferably set back in relation to the outer edge of the attachment or the book cover in such a way that the cutting guide extends through the material web provided with adhesive when the document is cut or punched to its final dimensions. This ensures complete bonding of the front edges then produced between the attachment and the book cover.
A further advantageous embodiment of the method provides that the book block is formed from an attachment extending on both sides to the folding area of the book-like value and / or security document and at least one data page extending on both sides to the folding area and preferably a data carrier, in particular a personalization data page a tab is arranged which extends over the fold area. Such a structure of a book block can be securely integrated into the book cover through the material web with the double-sided hot melt adhesive layer.
Furthermore, the header, the at least one data page and preferably the tab of the personalization data page are preferably sewn and / or welded and / or laminated to one another. Advantageously, on an outside of the attachment facing the book cover to be glued, a reinforcement can also be provided in the fold area be introduced. This reinforcement can be designed as a paper strip, fabric strip, as a strip of plastic film or a combination thereof. This provides a secure connection of the individual data pages and the data carrier, in particular the personalization data page, to the book block.
The hot melt adhesive layer is preferably designed as a liquid reactive hot melt adhesive. For example, reactive polyether- or polyester-based polyurethanes or reactive polyolefins or a combination of these can be used. Preference is given to using hot melt adhesives that have a low application temperature, so that they are applied to the book cover or the attachment at a low application temperature, which is in the range of 50 ° C. and 210 ° C., in particular between 80 ° C. and 150 ° C. can be. Subsequently, when the hot-melt adhesive layer cools, the hot-melt adhesive layer simultaneously hardens, creating a permanent adhesive bond that cannot be detached or melted.
