Definitions
- the invention relates to a furniture board with a core made of rigid material, which is coated on both sides and on a visible edge with a film-like decorative material, the core having two interconnected material layers and the decorative material is a continuous path that has two parallel, on the visible edge, Forms film hinges connected by a prism made of core material, on which the material layers of the core are folded onto one another, and wherein at least one further edge running at right angles to the visible edge is coated with the decorative material and one of the material layers of the core is divided into wings, one of which adjoins the visible edge and the other is arranged on the other edge and is connected to the other material layer via two further film hinges and a prism and the two wings adjoin one another to form a miter joint.
- Such furniture panels are used, for example, as front panels, doors, flaps, side walls, upper, lower or intermediate floors of furniture and usually have a core made of a wood material, for example made of chipboard or MDF.
- the decorative material is often wood veneers, but often also plastic films or other sheet materials.
- the two opposite sides of the plate-shaped core are coated with the decorative material, and at least one edge of the plate, which is visible to the viewer on the finished piece of furniture and is therefore referred to here as the visible edge, has an edge band made of the same or at least one of the same looking decorative material attached.
- edge band made of the same or at least one of the same looking decorative material attached.
- a furniture panel according to the preamble of claim 1 is from DE 40 11 393 C1 known.
- U.S. 3,654,053 A shows a furniture board, the core of which has three layers lying one above the other, one of which forms two wings, which extend along two opposite edges of the flap and form a butt joint with one another.
- the object of the invention is to create a furniture panel with an improved appearance.
- the decorative material forms a continuous web, there are no unsightly and damage-sensitive bumps on the visible edge.
- a clean and wrinkle-free coating of the material layers of the core with the decorative material can be achieved simply by placing the core material on a flat surface on the continuous web of the decorative material and gluing or gluing it to the decorative material is welded. Only then are the two material layers of the core folded over by 90 ° on each of the film hinges so that they lie flat on top of one another and can also be glued together. The prism between the two film hinges then forms the visible edge of the panel.
- the furniture panel according to the invention is also coated with the decorative material on at least one edge running at right angles to the visible edge.
- Two film hinges are also formed on this edge, and the parts of the upper material layer that are folded back onto the lower material layer form a miter joint with one another after being folded over.
- the multi-layer structure of the core offers the advantageous possibility of accommodating various functional parts such as electrical lines or circuits, connecting fittings, floor supports or the like in an optically inconspicuous and secure manner in the interior of the core between the two material layers.
- the recesses necessary for this in the layers of the core can be produced efficiently, for example by milling, while the two material layers are still in a common plane on the decorative material.
- Recesses for hinge parts embedded in the plate can also be produced efficiently in this way.
- the furniture board 10 shown has a core 12 made of a rigid wood material, for example MDF boards, which is coated with a film-like decorative material 18 on both sides 14 and on a visible edge 16 connecting these sides.
- the decorative material can be, for example, plastic film or a leather fiber material.
- the core 12 has two material layers 20, 22 lying on top of one another and glued to one another.
- the corresponding edges of the two material layers 20 and 22 are chamfered, and the free space created thereby is filled by a prism 26 made of the material of the core, the base of which is formed by the visible edge 16.
- FIG. 2 A method for manufacturing the furniture panel according to Fig. 1 is in Figs. 2 to 4 shown.
- the web of decorative material 18 lies flat on a base, not shown, and a one-piece plate 28, which later forms the material layers 20, 22 and the prima 26 of the core 12, is glued to the top of the decorative material 18.
- Fig. 3 shows, in the next section two parallel grooves 30 with a V-shaped cross-section are milled in the plate 28, which is thereby divided into the two material layers 20, 22 and the prism 26.
- the flanks of the grooves 30 each form a right angle to one another, and the depth of the grooves corresponds to the thickness of the plate 28, so that a strip of the decorative material 18 is exposed at the bottom of each groove, which then forms the film hinge 24.
- Fig. 4 shows an intermediate stage in which the decorative material 18 was initially only folded over at the film hinge 24, which lies between the prism 26 and the material layer 20.
- FIG. 13 is a perspective view of part of the plate 28 in the condition also shown in FIG Fig. 3 is shown, that is, in the state in which the plate 28 is glued to a corresponding blank of the decorative material 18.
- the decorative material 18 protrudes slightly over the plate 28 at all edges.
- the outline shape of the plate 28 is selected here so that it later forms the core of a furniture plate which is coated with the decorative material 18 on all four edges.
- Fig. 6 shows the state after the milling of the grooves 30.
- four pairs of grooves 30 and correspondingly four prisms 26 are formed that define the four edges of the later furniture panel, not only the visible edge 16 but also an edge 32 opposite the visible edge 16 and two further edges 34 on the narrow sides of the plate (only one of the edges 34 is shown here).
- the four pairs of grooves 30 enclose the material layer 22 of the core, while the main part of the material layer 22 is formed by a wing 20 ′ of the plate 28 which lies beyond the visible edge 16.
- Shorter wings 36 and 38, which are also parts of the material layer 22, are formed on the remaining edges 32 and 34.
- pyramid-shaped bodies 40 made of core material are left in extension of the prisms 26 and are later removed.
- Fig. 7 shows the state after the body 40 has been removed and the decorative material 18 has been carefully trimmed.
- diagonal incisions 42 are formed which each subdivide the protruding edge of the decorative material into two triangular flaps 44 which are then folded over and glued onto the beveled ends of the prisms 26.
- cutouts 46 are formed in the hem of the decorative material 18 which divide the hem into individual trapezoidal flaps which can later be glued to the edges of the wings 36, 38 and 20' without they overlap each other at the corners.
- Fig. 8 shows the state after the wing 36 has been folded over, of which the former underside coated with the decorative material is now visible.
- the edge 32 coated with the decorative material, which is formed by the base of the prism 26, which is no longer visible, can also be seen.
- Fig. 10 shows the final state of the furniture panel 10 after the wing 38 has also been folded over so that it forms a further butt joint 50 with the wing 20 '.
- Miter joints 52 are formed between the coated upper sides of the wings 36 and 38, which, like the butt joints 48 and 50, accommodate the inwardly folded flaps of the decorative material.
- the furniture board 10 is usually installed in a piece of furniture in such a way that the side of the board in which the butt joints and miter joints are located forms the inside of the furniture or generally the side that is less visible.
- the multi-layer structure of the core 12 of the furniture board 10 facilitates the integration of various functional parts into the furniture board, as is shown below with reference to FIG Figs. 11-17 should be illustrated with a few examples.
- the furniture panel 10 has a cable duct 54 for electrical devices in the interior of the core, in the example shown for an LED spotlight 56 which is also integrated into the furniture panel.
- the cable duct 54 can be opened very easily when it is still unfolded ( Fig. 3 ) by milling corresponding grooves in the material layers 20 and 22 of the core, namely in such positions that they come to coincide with one another after the upper material layer has been folded over.
- a recess for receiving a foot or housing 58 of the spotlight 56 is milled into the lower material layer 20 at the end of the cable duct 54.
- This recess is dimensioned in such a way that it appropriately accommodates the housing 58 after the tubular lower part of the spotlight lamp has been inserted through a corresponding hole in the material layer 20.
- the upper material layer 22 also forms a recess which, however, surrounds the housing 58 with some play so that the housing 58 can easily enter this recess when the material layer 22 is folded onto the lower material layer 20.
- ventilation ducts can also be formed by milling corresponding grooves in one or both layers of material. In this way, a build-up of heat in the furniture panel can be avoided in the case of electrical devices with higher heat emission.
- Fig. 12 shows in section a furniture panel 10a, which forms a shelf or a side panel of a furniture body, and a further furniture panel 10b, which forms a shelf or shelf.
- the cutting plane runs parallel to the visible edge 16, so that the prima 26 is not visible.
- recesses 60 are formed in the material layers of the core which receive a head of a floor support 62 and fix it in the direction of the thickness of the furniture panel 10a.
- a pin-shaped part of the base support 62 is inserted (before the material layers of the core are folded onto one another) through a hole in the corresponding material layer, so that it protrudes from the surface of the furniture panel.
- a recess 62 is formed in the lower material layer 20 which is open towards the edge 34 of this furniture panel. Further inside, both material layers of this furniture panel form a somewhat larger recess in which a floor support receptacle 64 is held free of play. As in the cross-section in Fig. 13 As can be seen, the floor support receptacle 64 forms in the recess 62 a slot 66 which is open towards the underside of the furniture panel 10b and which engages over the pin-shaped part of the floor support 62. In this way, the furniture panel 10b can be supported on the floor support 62 and fixed in any horizontal direction (and possibly also locked in the vertical direction) without any interfering elements being present on the underside of the shelf. With the exception of the pin-shaped part of the floor support 62, all elements of the floor support arrangement are thus received invisibly in the furniture panels 10a and 10b.
- connection fitting 70 serves to hold the furniture panel 10, which here forms a vertical cleat of a piece of furniture, between a top panel 72 and a bottom panel (not shown) to fix.
- the connecting fitting is in the form of a bolt, the head 74 of which is let into the underside of the top floor 72, while the shaft extends through the channel 68.
- a clamp or screw fitting is arranged in a known manner, which grasps the lower end of the connecting fitting 70.
- the head 74 can be embedded in the top panel 72 in a tensile manner, so that the top panel 72 and the bottom panel can be clamped against the upper and lower edges of the furniture panel 10 with the aid of the connecting fitting and the fitting.
- Fig. 15 shows the furniture panel 10 according to Fig. 14 in a horizontal cut.
- the visible edge 16 of this furniture panel is located on the front of the furniture.
- the channel 68 runs in the vicinity of this visible edge 16 and receives the shaft of the connecting fitting 70 with practically no play, so that the furniture panel 10 is also fixed in the direction of the depth of the furniture.
- a further channel 76 which receives a further connecting fitting 78, which can be identical to the connecting fitting 70.
- the channel 76 is, however, formed by grooves in the two material layers of the core which have a greater width than the channel 68, so that the connecting fitting 78 is received in the channel 76 with play in the direction of the depth of the furniture.
- This arrangement makes it possible to fix the top panel 72, which can be a solid wood panel, for example, in the front area of the furniture securely and permanently in relation to the furniture panel 10, while any expansion or contraction of the solid wood panel is caused by the play of the connecting fitting 78 in the channel 76 can be compensated.
- Fig. 16 shows two furniture panels 10c and 10d which are pivotably connected to one another by a hinge 80.
- the hinge 80 has a strip-shaped hinge part 82 on the side of the furniture panel 10b and an L-shaped hinge part on the side of the furniture panel 10c.
- the two hinge parts 82 and 84 are articulated to one another on a hinge axis 86.
- the strip-shaped hinge part is embedded in one of the material layers of the core of the furniture panel 10d.
- the L-shaped hinge part 84 is suitably received in grooves which are formed on the outside in the one material layer 20 and in the prism 26 of the core of the furniture panel 10c.
- grooves for the two legs of the hinge part 84 run at right angles to one another, they can be produced in a single operation with a single milling tool before the material layers 20, 24 are folded over, as in FIG Fig. 17 is shown. Since in the in Fig. 17 In the state shown, the undersides of the material layer 20 and the prism 26 lie in a common plane, a continuous groove 84 ′ can be milled into the material layer 20 and the prism 26 and into the decorative material 16. During the subsequent folding over of the material layers in the state according to Fig. 16 the angled groove for the hinge part 84 is then created. In a corresponding manner, grooves can also be produced that run in a U-shape in the opposite sides and the edge of the plate, for example to accommodate connecting fittings that attach the edge of the plate in the manner of a post anchor U. -shaped grip.
Description
The invention relates to a furniture board with a core made of rigid material, which is coated on both sides and on a visible edge with a film-like decorative material, the core having two interconnected material layers and the decorative material is a continuous path that has two parallel, on the visible edge, Forms film hinges connected by a prism made of core material, on which the material layers of the core are folded onto one another, and wherein at least one further edge running at right angles to the visible edge is coated with the decorative material and one of the material layers of the core is divided into wings, one of which adjoins the visible edge and the other is arranged on the other edge and is connected to the other material layer via two further film hinges and a prism and the two wings adjoin one another to form a miter joint.
Such furniture panels are used, for example, as front panels, doors, flaps, side walls, upper, lower or intermediate floors of furniture and usually have a core made of a wood material, for example made of chipboard or MDF. The decorative material is often wood veneers, but often also plastic films or other sheet materials.
Usually, the two opposite sides of the plate-shaped core are coated with the decorative material, and at least one edge of the plate, which is visible to the viewer on the finished piece of furniture and is therefore referred to here as the visible edge, has an edge band made of the same or at least one of the same looking decorative material attached. In particular with thicker decorative materials such as, for example, strips of leather fiber material, it is difficult, however, to cleanly design the joints between the edge band and the decorative material attached to the main surfaces of the panel.
In principle, it is possible to coat the two main sides of the panel and the visible edge with a continuous strip of decorative material. In contrast to endless profiles, with individual furniture panels, especially panels with a relatively large extension, it is technically complex to carry out the wrapping process in such a way that bubbles or wrinkles do not form in the decorative material.
The object of the invention is to create a furniture panel with an improved appearance.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that, in a furniture panel according to the preamble of claim 1, another edge opposite the visible edge is coated with the decorative material and one of the material layers forms two wings, one of which is adjacent to the visible edge and the other to the opposite edge is adjacent and is connected to the other material layer via two further film hinges and a prism, and the two wings adjoin one another with their free ends to form a butt joint.
Since the decorative material forms a continuous web, there are no unsightly and damage-sensitive bumps on the visible edge. A clean and wrinkle-free coating of the material layers of the core with the decorative material can be achieved simply by placing the core material on a flat surface on the continuous web of the decorative material and gluing or gluing it to the decorative material is welded. Only then are the two material layers of the core folded over by 90 ° on each of the film hinges so that they lie flat on top of one another and can also be glued together. The prism between the two film hinges then forms the visible edge of the panel.
The furniture panel according to the invention is also coated with the decorative material on at least one edge running at right angles to the visible edge. Two film hinges are also formed on this edge, and the parts of the upper material layer that are folded back onto the lower material layer form a miter joint with one another after being folded over.
According to this principle, it is also possible to produce a furniture panel that is completely encased on both sides and on all four edges, where the joints between different parts of the decorative material do not lie on the edges of the panel, but on the side of the panel that is not or barely visible in the finished furniture.
Advantageous refinements and developments of the invention are specified in the subclaims.
The multi-layer structure of the core offers the advantageous possibility of accommodating various functional parts such as electrical lines or circuits, connecting fittings, floor supports or the like in an optically inconspicuous and secure manner in the interior of the core between the two material layers. The recesses necessary for this in the layers of the core can be produced efficiently, for example by milling, while the two material layers are still in a common plane on the decorative material. Recesses for hinge parts embedded in the plate can also be produced efficiently in this way.
In the following, exemplary embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail with reference to the drawing.
