Description

The invention relates to a furniture panel with a core of rigid material, which is coated on both sides and on a visible edge with a foil-like decorative material.
Such furniture panels are used for example as front panels, doors, flaps, side walls, upper, lower or intermediate floors of furniture and usually have a core of a wood material, such as chipboard or MDF. The decorative material is often wood veneers, but often also plastic films or other web materials.
Usually, the two opposite sides of the plate-shaped core are coated with the decorative material, and on at least one edge of the plate, which is visible to the viewer on the finished furniture and therefore should be referred to here as the visible edge, a Kantenumleimer from the same or at least one equal looking decorative material attached. Especially with thicker decorative materials such as webs of leather pulp, however, it is difficult to clean the joints between the Kantenumleimer and attached to the main surfaces of the plate decorative material. In principle, it is possible to coat the two main sides of the plate and the visible edge with a continuous path of the decorative material. Unlike endless profiles, however, in individual furniture panels, in particular for panels with a relatively large expansion, it is technically complicated to carry out the covering process in such a way that there is no formation of bubbles or wrinkles in the decorative material.
The object of the invention is to provide a furniture panel with improved appearance.
This object is achieved in that the core has two interconnected layers of material and that the decorative material is a continuous web that forms two parallel on the visible edge, connected by a prism of core material film hinges on which the material layers of the core are folded on each other.
Since the decorative material forms a continuous path, no unsightly and damage-sensitive impacts occur at the visible edge. A clean and wrinkle-free coating of the material layers of the core with the decorative material can be achieved simply by placing the core material on a flat base on the continuous web of the decorative material and gluing or welding to the decorative material. Only then are the two layers of material of the core at each of the film hinges folded over 90 °, so that they lie flat on one another and can also be glued together. The prism between the two film hinges then forms the visible edge of the plate.
Advantageous embodiments and further developments of the invention are specified in the subclaims.
The furniture panel according to the invention can also be coated with the decorative material on at least one further edge extending at right angles to the visible edge. Also Two film hinges are then formed at this edge, and the parts of the upper material layer folded back onto the lower material layer form a miter joint after folding over. According to this principle, a complete, on both sides and on all four edges wrapped furniture plate can be produced at the joints between different parts of the decorative material not on the edges of the plate, but on the finished furniture not or hardly visible side of the plate.
The multi-layer structure of the core offers the advantageous possibility to accommodate different functional parts such as electrical lines or circuits, connection fittings, floor support or the like visually inconspicuous and safe inside the core between the two layers of material. The necessary recesses in the layers of the core can be produced efficiently, for example by milling, while the two layers of material are still in a common plane on the decorative material. Also recesses for embedded in the plate hinge parts can be produced efficiently in this way.
In the following, embodiments of the invention will be explained in more detail with reference to the drawing.

Fig. 15 is a section along the line XV -XV in Fig. 14; 16 shows a section through edge regions of two furniture panels connected by a hinge according to the invention; and 17 shows a section through one of the furniture panels according to FIG. 16 in the state before the core layers have been folded over. The furniture panel 10 shown in Fig. 1 comprises a core 12 made of a rigid wood material, for example made of MDF boards, which is coated on both sides 14 and at one of these sides connecting the visible edge 16 with a foil-like decorative material 18. The decorative material may be, for example, plastic film or a leather pulp.
The core 12 has two superimposed material layers 20, 22 glued together and bonded together. The decorative material 18, however, forms a web which extends continuously over the visible edge 16 and the two sides 14 of the core and in each case forms a film hinge 24 at the transition between the visible edge 16 and one of the sides 14. The corresponding edges of the two layers of material 20 and 22 are chamfered, and the space created thereby is filled by a prism 26 of the material of the core, the base of which forms the visible edge 16.
A method for producing the furniture panel according to FIG. 1 is shown in FIGS. 2 to 4. In the state shown in FIG. 2, the web of the decorative material 18 lies flat on a base, not shown, and a one-piece plate 28, which later forms the material layers 20, 22 and the primer 26 of the core 12, is on top of the decorative material 18th glued. As shown in FIG. 3, in the next cut two parallel, in cross-section V-shaped grooves 30 are milled into the plate 28, which is thereby divided into the two layers of material 20, 22 and the prism 26. The flanks of the grooves 30 each form a right angle with each other, and the depth of the grooves corresponds to the thickness of the plate 28, so that at the bottom of each groove a strip of the decorative material 18 is exposed, which then forms the film hinge 24. The tops of the layers of material 20 and 22 and the flanks of the grooves 30 are glued, and finally the decorative material 18 is folded over at each of the film hinges 24 by 90 °, so that the chamfers formed on the material layers 20 and 22, the flanks of the grooves 30 have formed, put on the corresponding edges of the prism 26 and glued to these. FIG. 4 shows an intermediate stage in which the decorative material 18 was first folded over only at the film hinge 24 which lies between the prism 26 and the material layer 20.
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of a portion of the plate 28 in the condition also shown in FIG. 3, that is, in the state where the plate 28 is adhered to a corresponding blank of the decorative material 18. The decorative material 18 is slightly above the plate 28 at all edges. The outline of the plate 28 is chosen here so that it later forms the core of a furniture panel which is coated on all four edges with the decorative material 18.
Fig. 6 shows the state after milling the grooves 30. In this case, four pairs of grooves 30 and accordingly four prisms 26 are formed defining the four edges of the later furniture panel, not only the visible edge 16 but also one of the visible edge 16 opposite edge 32 and two further edges 34 on the narrow sides of the plate (of the edges 34 is shown here only one). The four pairs of grooves 30 enclose the material layer 22 of the core, while the main part of the material layer 22 is formed by a vane 20 'of the plate 28, which lies beyond the visible edge 16. At the other edges 32 and 34 shorter wings 36 and 38 are formed, which are also parts of the material layer 22. At the corners of the plate, at which the pairs of grooves 30 intersect, in extension of the prisms 26 pyramidal bodies 40 of core material have stopped, which are later removed. Fig. 7 shows the state after the removal of the body 40 and the careful trimming of the decorative material 18. Where the bodies 40 were located, diagonal cuts 42 are formed, which divide the projecting seam of the decorative material into two triangular tabs 44, respectively. which are then folded over and glued onto the bevelled ends of the prisms 26. At the corners of the wings 36, 38 and 20 '18 cutouts 46 are formed in the seam of the decorative material, which divide the hem into individual trapezoidal tabs, which can later be glued to the edges of the wings 36, 38 and 20', without they overlap each other at the corners.
FIG. 8 shows the state after the folding over of the wing 36, from which the former underside coated with the decorative material is now visible. Likewise, one sees the edge 32 coated with the decorative material, which is formed by the base of the prism 26, which is no longer visible. In Fig. 9 and the wing 20 'was folded, which is adjacent to the visible edge 16. The protruding tabs of the decorative material were glued to the edges of the wings and are now in a clean butt joint 48 directly to each other.
FIG. 10 shows the final state of the furniture panel 10 after the wing 38 has also been folded over so that it forms a further butt joint 50 with the wing 20 '. Between the coated tops of the wings 36 and 38 miter joints 52 are formed, which receive as well as the butt joints 48 and 50, the inwardly folded tabs of the decorative material. It is understood that the furniture panel 10 is usually installed in a piece of furniture in such a way that the side of the panel in which the joints and miter joints are located forms the inside of the furniture or generally the side which is less visible.
The multi-layer structure of the core 12 of the furniture panel 10 facilitates the integration of various functional parts in the furniture panel, as will be illustrated below with reference to FIGS. 11 to 17 with reference to some examples.
In Fig. 11, the furniture panel 10 inside the core has a cable channel 54 for electrical equipment, in the example shown for an LED spotlight 56 which is also integrated in the furniture panel. The cable channel 54 can be very easily produced in the still unfolded state (FIG. 3) by milling corresponding grooves in the material layers 20 and 22 of the core, in such positions that they coincide with each other after the upper material layer has been folded over come. Alternatively, it is of course also possible to mill only one groove in one of the two layers of material.
. C) _ In Fig. 11, a recess for receiving a foot or housing 58 of the spotlight 56 is also milled into the lower material layer 20 at the end of the cable channel 54. This recess is dimensioned so that it receives the housing 58 fitting after the tubular lower part of the spotlight has been inserted through a corresponding bore of the material layer 20. The upper material layer 22 also forms a recess which, however, surrounds the housing 58 with some play, so that the housing 58 can easily enter this recess when the material layer 22 is folded onto the lower material layer 20. After gluing the layers of material 20 and 22, the spotlight 56 is securely fixed in the vertical direction in the furniture panel. , C) _
Optionally, in addition to the cable channel 54 and ventilation channels can be formed by corresponding grooves are milled into one or both layers of material. Thus, heat build-up in the furniture panel can be avoided in electrical devices with higher heat dissipation.
Fig. 12 shows in section a furniture panel 10 a, which forms a shelf lugs or a side wall of a furniture carcass, and another furniture panel 10 b, which forms a shelf or shelf. In the furniture panel 10b, the cutting plane is parallel to the viewing edge 16, so that the primer 26 is not visible.
In the furniture panel 10a recesses 60 are formed in the material layers of the core, which receive a head of a floor support 62 and fix in the direction of the thickness of the furniture panel 10a. A pin-shaped part of the bottom support 62 is inserted (before the folding of the material layers of the core) through a hole of the corresponding material layer, so that it protrudes from the surface of the furniture panel.
In the furniture panel 10b, a recess 62 is formed in the lower material layer 20, which is open to the edge 34 of this furniture panel. Farther inside, both layers of material of this furniture panel form a somewhat larger recess, in which a floor support support 64 is held without play. As can be seen in the cross-sectional illustration in FIG. 13, the bottom support receptacle 64 in the recess 62 forms a slot 66 which opens towards the underside of the furniture panel 10b and engages over the pin-shaped part of the floor support 62. In this way, the furniture panel 10 b supported on the bottom support 62 and fixed in any horizontal direction (and possibly also locked in the vertical direction), without any disturbing elements are present on the underside of the shelf. Thus, with the exception of the pin-shaped part of the bottom support 62, all elements of the bottom support assembly are invisibly received in the furniture panels 10a and 10b. In Fig. 14, the furniture panel 10 forms at the interface between the material layers of the core a continuous channel 68 for receiving a connection fitting 70. This connection fitting 70 serves the furniture panel 10, which here forms a vertical cleat of a piece of furniture between a top floor 72 and to fix a subfloor, not shown. The connection fitting is in the form of a bolt whose head 74 is recessed into the underside of the top floor 72 while the shaft extends through the channel 68. In the subfloor of the furniture, not shown, a clamping or Schraubfitting is arranged in a known manner, which detects the lower end of the connecting fitting 70. The head 74 can be embedded in the upper floor 72 with tensile strength, so that the upper floor 72 and the lower floor can be clamped against the upper and lower edges of the furniture panel 10 with the aid of the connecting fitting and the fitting.
FIG. 15 shows the furniture panel 10 according to FIG. 14 in a horizontal section. The visible edge 16 of this furniture panel is located on the front side of the furniture. The channel 68 extends in the vicinity of this visible edge 16 and receives the shank of the connecting fitting 70 virtually free of play, so that the furniture plate 10 is fixed in the direction of the depth of the furniture. In a further located to the rear of the furniture position Fig. 15 shows a further channel 76 which receives a further connection fitting 78, which may be identical with the connecting fitting 70. However, the channel 76 is formed by grooves in the two layers of material of the core, which have a greater width than the channel 68, so that the connection fitting 78 is received in the direction of the depth of the furniture with play in the channel 76. This arrangement makes it possible to secure the top floor 72, which may be, for example, a solid wood panel, securely and permanently in relation to the furniture panel 10 in the front area of the furniture, while any stretching or shrinking of the solid wood panel by the play of the connection fitting 78 in the channel 76 can be compensated. Fig. 16 shows two furniture panels 10c and 10d pivotally connected together by a hinge 80. Figs. The hinge 80 has a strip-shaped hinge part 82 on the side of the furniture panel 10b and an L-shaped hinge part on the side of the furniture panel 10c. The two hinge parts 82 and 84 are hinged together at a hinge axis 86. The strip-shaped hinge part is embedded in one of the material layers of the core of the furniture board 10d. The L-shaped hinge part 84 is suitably received in grooves which are formed on the outside in the one material layer 20 and in the prism 26 of the core of the furniture plate 10c.
Although the grooves for the two legs of the hinge portion 84 are perpendicular to one another, prior to folding the sheets of material 20, 24, they may be made in a single operation with a single milling tool, as shown in FIG. In the state shown in FIG. 17, since the bottoms of the sheet 20 and the prism 26 are in a common plane, a continuous groove 84 'can be milled into the sheet 20 and the prism 26 as well as the decorative material 16. In the subsequent folding of the material layers in the state shown in FIG. 16 then creates the angled groove for the hinge part 84. In a corresponding manner, grooves can be produced which extend U-shaped in the opposite sides and the edge of the plate, such as for receiving Connecting fittings that surround the edge of the plate in the manner of a U-shaped post anchor.
