  • Hidradenitis suppurativa / acne inversa also known as acne inversa, pyoderma fistulans significa, acne tetrade
  • This and the following information is taken from the Sl Guideline for the treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa / acne inversa (C. Zouboulis et al., Guideline on the Treatment of Hidradenitis suppurativa / acne inversa, ICD-10 digit: L73.2, as of: 31.12.2012).
  • Hidradenitis suppurativa / acne inversa is a chronic recurrent skin disease that usually occurs after bert2011 Pu ⁇ and can run scaring. It manifests with painful, deeply localized, inflammatory skin lesions that occur in terminal follicle and apocrine gland-rich skin regions, most commonly in the axillae and inguinal and anogenital regions.
  • the primary lesion is a painful, solitarily deep-seated, cutaneous subcutaneous nodule that spontaneously recovers, persists, or transforms into an abscess. In general, it is a horizontal infestation of the dermis. Abscesses can merge in depth and spontaneously rupture outwards. The rupture is accompanied by a purulent and / or watery-bloody secretion.
  • the hidradenitis suppurativa / acne inversa is not acne: the deep areas of the follicles seem; to be affected and not the acroinfundibulum, as in acne vulgaris, where the convex skin surfaces are involved.
  • Hidradenitis suppurativa / acne inversa is one of the most distressing and most life-degrading diseases in the disease compared to other dermatological diseases (Wolkenstein P. et al., Quality of Life Group of the French Society of Dermatology, Quality of Life Impairment in Hidrad- enitis suppurativa: a study of 61 cases, J Am Acad Dermatol 56: 621-3, 2007). There are no approved medications for Hidradenitis suppurativa / Acne inversa.
  • Hidradenitis suppurativa / Acne inversa does not heal with topical administration of antibiotics, but pain and secretion often decrease, which leads to a certain remission.
  • Systemic antibiotics act on the one hand by reducing the colonization of the hair follicles with bacteria, on the other hand by reducing various: proinflammatory mechanisms.
  • Antibiotic treatment reduces the symptoms but is not a permanent solution due to allergies and resistance.
  • a primary wound closure can be performed. Surgical removal of the nodal or sinus "roof" with the disclosure and fate of the "ground” epithelium may, in some cases, be beneficial and speed up the healing of surgical wounds.
