Definitions
- the invention relates to a frameless glass door for fire protection purposes to prevent the passage of fire and smoke in case of fire from a first room in an adjacent second room with a fire protection pane, which has two parallel and spaced glass panes and arranged between them and edge peripheral spacers, said the formed between the glass panes interior is filled with a fire retardant.
- Glass doors of the type mentioned are known from the prior art. Such glass doors usually consist of a fire protection pane of at least two held by a spacer at a distance, parallel glass panes whose closed interior is filled with a fire retardant. Fire protection panels are therefore constructed in multiple layers of glass panes and an interposed fire protection layer. In case of fire, this fire protection layer is activated. The fire protection layer absorbs heat radiation and forms a highly effective insulating layer. As a fire retardant find between the glass panes of the fire protection disc gel-like, hydrous, in particular alkali metal silicate contained materials use.
- the object of the invention is to provide an improved solution for optical lamination of the spacer in glass doors of the type mentioned above, as well as to provide protection against damage and an improvement in the mechanical strength of such glass doors in case of fire.
- a frameless glass door for fire protection purposes of the type mentioned is proposed with the invention, which is characterized in that the glass door on at least one edge carries a metal profile, wherein the metal profile is glued to the fire panel.
- the invention is based on the finding that instead of printing the edge region of the glass door, a metal profile can be glued onto the fire protection pane.
- a further finding of the invention is that the fire protection pane is protected against damage of a mechanical kind when the impact edges, which are particularly under mechanical stress, are protected by the metal profile.
- the metal profile is glued to the fire protection pane.
- damage to the glass door caused by deformations of the metal profile may occur. Such deformation transfers heavy loads to the fire panel, which can destroy their glass panes.
- the metal profile is glued according to the invention by means of a silicone adhesive or a double-sided adhesive tape on the fire protection screen that dissolves the metal profile at high temperature load from the fire protection pane. In case of fire, therefore, the adhesive effect decreases and the metal profile falls from the Fire protection disc or it dissolves. Deformations of the metal profile thus exert no burden on the fire protection pane. As a result, the mechanical strength is increased significantly even in case of fire.
- the metal profile is preferably made of stainless steel or aluminum. This results in the advantages that in the bonded state, the metal profile provides effective edge protection against mechanical damage, and the mechanical strength of the glass door according to the invention is improved even in case of fire.
- the metal profile is formed in cross-section L-shaped with a shorter and a longer leg, wherein the shorter leg at least partially covers an edge of the glass door and the longer leg at least partially covers a side surface of the glass door.
- a further preferred embodiment of the invention provides that the longer leg of the cross-sectionally L-shaped metal profile is adapted to the width of the spacer.
- the width of the metal profile is thus adapted so that the spacer located between the individual glass panes of the fire protection disc is no longer visible.
- the longer legs of the L-shaped metal profiles may project beyond the spacer by at least two millimeters, preferably by at least three millimeters.
- the glass door on the edge opposite the metal profile carries a further metal profile.
- the further metal profile is identical to the already arranged metal profile. Due to the L-shaped configuration of the metal profile used in each case this does not fully encompass the abutting surface of the glass door. Even with two-sided arrangement of the metal profiles on the glass door, these have no contact surface with each other. The arranged on the glass door metal profiles can thus cooperate and on the one hand protect the glass door on both sides from mechanical damage and on the other effect an optical lamination. Due to the avoidance of a contact surface of the two metal profiles with each other, a heat transfer is avoided.
- gap is advantageously an intumescent Material can be arranged, which foams under heat, as soon as a critical temperature is reached.
- the gap between the glass door and the fixed part such as a door frame or a sibling glazing sealed by the foaming. The passage of fire and smoke from one connected through the glass door first space in an adjacent second space can be effectively avoided.
- a further embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the metal profile or the metal profiles, the edges of the glass door is arranged circumferentially on all sides or are.
- an edge of the glass door can be covered with a continuous metal profile or the metal profile is interrupted and has a plurality of elements which form an abutting edge with each other, so that the respective edge of the glass door is completely covered.
- only the edges of one side of the glass door can be provided on all sides circumferentially with an arranged metal profile or with a plurality of metal profiles arranged.
- the metal profiles are the edges of the glass door on both sides and they are arranged circumferentially on all sides.
- the abutting surface of the glass door is provided with a covering layer, which extends in particular at least over the width of the interior formed between the glass panes of the fire protection pane.
- the cover layer can be applied, for example, as a lacquer layer, as an adhesive tape or in the form of a plastic application, wherein the cover layer is not transparent or opaque.
- the spacer can be laminated when viewing the edge of the glass door, on the other hand, a generally transparent intumescent material in the region of the edge of the glass door can be color-matched to the appearance of the glass door.
- a glass door 1 according to the invention is shown in a side view.
- the glass door 1 consists of a fire protection pane 2, which meets fire protection requirements.
- the fire panel 2 is provided with three door bands 9, by means of which the glass door 1 is attached to a frame, not shown, or a frame.
- a door closer 12 is arranged on the glass door 1, which cooperates with a lock 8 above and below.
- the glass door 1 can be opened or closed.
- the edges of the glass door 1 on all sides encircling metal profiles 3a are arranged.
- the metal profiles 3a are each beveled at their ends at an angle of about 45 °, so that they abut seamlessly in an assembly and form a right angle at the corners of the glass door 1.

Description
The invention relates to a frameless glass door for fire protection purposes to prevent the passage of fire and smoke in case of fire from a first room in an adjacent second room with a fire protection pane, which has two parallel and spaced glass panes and arranged between them and edge peripheral spacers, said the formed between the glass panes interior is filled with a fire retardant.
Glass doors of the type mentioned are known from the prior art.
These frameless glass doors for fire protection have proven themselves, as they are simple and consist of only a few components. As a result, a narrow design, which not only has visual advantages, but also improves their handling when opening and closing due to the low weight of the glass door.
An encircling spacer spaces the glass sheets. So that the spacer is not visible from the outside after assembly, the glass door is printed in black on the side in the area of the spacer, whereby the spacer is concealed. This solution is aesthetically pleasing not always satisfactory and furthermore technically complex and expensive to manufacture. Another disadvantage is that such prints do not provide protection against mechanical damage, so that a simple impact is sufficient to damage or destroy the glass door panels. This can be caused by small obstacles, such as stones on the floor, for example, during the closing or opening of the door.
Based on this prior art, the object of the invention is to provide an improved solution for optical lamination of the spacer in glass doors of the type mentioned above, as well as to provide protection against damage and an improvement in the mechanical strength of such glass doors in case of fire.
For the technical solution of this object, a frameless glass door for fire protection purposes of the type mentioned is proposed with the invention, which is characterized in that the glass door on at least one edge carries a metal profile, wherein the metal profile is glued to the fire panel.
The invention is based on the finding that instead of printing the edge region of the glass door, a metal profile can be glued onto the fire protection pane. A further finding of the invention is that the fire protection pane is protected against damage of a mechanical kind when the impact edges, which are particularly under mechanical stress, are protected by the metal profile.
According to the invention, the metal profile is glued to the fire protection pane. In case of fire, damage to the glass door caused by deformations of the metal profile may occur. Such deformation transfers heavy loads to the fire panel, which can destroy their glass panes. The metal profile is glued according to the invention by means of a silicone adhesive or a double-sided adhesive tape on the fire protection screen that dissolves the metal profile at high temperature load from the fire protection pane. In case of fire, therefore, the adhesive effect decreases and the metal profile falls from the Fire protection disc or it dissolves. Deformations of the metal profile thus exert no burden on the fire protection pane. As a result, the mechanical strength is increased significantly even in case of fire. The metal profile is preferably made of stainless steel or aluminum. This results in the advantages that in the bonded state, the metal profile provides effective edge protection against mechanical damage, and the mechanical strength of the glass door according to the invention is improved even in case of fire.
In a preferred embodiment, the metal profile is formed in cross-section L-shaped with a shorter and a longer leg, wherein the shorter leg at least partially covers an edge of the glass door and the longer leg at least partially covers a side surface of the glass door.
A further preferred embodiment of the invention provides that the longer leg of the cross-sectionally L-shaped metal profile is adapted to the width of the spacer. The width of the metal profile is thus adapted so that the spacer located between the individual glass panes of the fire protection disc is no longer visible. To ensure optical lamination of the spacer also from oblique viewing angles, the longer legs of the L-shaped metal profiles may project beyond the spacer by at least two millimeters, preferably by at least three millimeters.
In a further embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the glass door on the edge opposite the metal profile carries a further metal profile. Preferably, the further metal profile is identical to the already arranged metal profile. In the formed between the metal profiles gap is advantageously an intumescent Material can be arranged, which foams under heat, as soon as a critical temperature is reached. In case of fire, the gap between the glass door and the fixed part, such as a door frame or a sibling glazing sealed by the foaming. The passage of fire and smoke from one connected through the glass door first space in an adjacent second space can be effectively avoided.
A further embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the metal profile or the metal profiles, the edges of the glass door is arranged circumferentially on all sides or are. In each case, an edge of the glass door can be covered with a continuous metal profile or the metal profile is interrupted and has a plurality of elements which form an abutting edge with each other, so that the respective edge of the glass door is completely covered. Furthermore, in a first embodiment, only the edges of one side of the glass door can be provided on all sides circumferentially with an arranged metal profile or with a plurality of metal profiles arranged. In a second embodiment, the metal profiles are the edges of the glass door on both sides and they are arranged circumferentially on all sides.
Advantageously, the abutting surface of the glass door is provided with a covering layer, which extends in particular at least over the width of the interior formed between the glass panes of the fire protection pane. The cover layer can be applied, for example, as a lacquer layer, as an adhesive tape or in the form of a plastic application, wherein the cover layer is not transparent or opaque. On the one hand, the spacer can be laminated when viewing the edge of the glass door, on the other hand, a generally transparent intumescent material in the region of the edge of the glass door can be color-matched to the appearance of the glass door.

The

Flush with the abutting surface of the glass door 1 L-shaped
When strongly heated, the
Furthermore, a
The illustrated and described in the drawings of the drawings embodiment is only illustrative of the invention and is not limiting for this.
