Claims (10)
- Steam iron (1) for domestic use, with a steam generator for producing steam which has a steam chamber (8) and a heater (10), with a water tank (12) for providing cold water for the steam generator, and with a pump (16) for supplying cold water to the steam chamber (10),
characterised in that- the steam iron (1) has a position sensor (32) for determining positions of the steam iron (1), wherein in an alternative position deviating from a horizontal working position the pump (16) is deactivated,- wherein the position sensor (32) is a ball sensor having a ball located in the horizontal working position in an open position and in the alternative position in a closed position,- and wherein a timer (26) is provided for deactivating the pump after a predetermined waiting time (tLSD), during which the ball is in its closed position. - Steam iron (1) according to claim 1, wherein 0.15s ≤ waiting time (tLSD) ≤ Is applies.
- Steam iron (1) according to claim 2, wherein 0.25s ≤ waiting time (tLSD) ≤ 0.7s applies.

- Steam iron according to one of the preceding claims, wherein in the working position the steam iron (1) has a manual steam blast element (40) for generating a manual steam blast.
- Steam iron according to claim 8, characterised in that the steam blast element (40) acts on a separate mechanical pump.
- Steam iron (1) according to claim 8 or 9, characterised in that the steam blast element (40) is a pushbutton guided in a housing opening.
