Description

  • Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine regenerierte Cellulosefaser in Form einer massiven Viskoseflachfaser.
  • Flachfasern und deren Herstellung sind bekannt. Flachfasern haben im Unterschied zu dem üblicherweise im wesentlichen runden Querschnitt von Fasern einen im wesentlichen flachen bzw. länglichen Querschnitt.
  • Cellulosische Flachfasern können einerseits durch Verspinnen einer Cellulose oder ein Cellulosederivat enthaltenden Spinnmasse durch schlitzförmige Spinndüsen hergestellt werden. Im Fall von Viskosefasern können Flachfasern alternativ in Form von kollabierten Hohlfasern hergestellt werden. Dabei wird ein Gas, z.B. Stickstoff, oder ein Treibmittel, z.B. Natriumcarbonat, in die Spinnviskose eingemischt. Beim Verspinnen der Fasern durch an sich herkömmliche Düsen entstehen Hohlfasern, deren Wände aber bei Wahl entsprechender Verfahrensbedingungen so dünn sind, dass die Fasern kollabieren und danach in Form von Flachfasern vorliegen.

  • Die WO 2006/134132 beschreibt die Verwendung von Viskoseflachfasern in einem Faserverbund mit dem Zweck, die Auflösbarkeit des Faserverbundes in Wasser zu verbessern. Die eingesetzten Flachfasern haben gemäß WO 2006/134132 bevorzugt eine krenellierte (zinnenartige) Oberfläche und sind im Unterschied zu kollabierten Hohlfasern mittels Verspinnen durch eine Schlitzdüse hergestellt.
  • Die Herstellung von cellulosischen Flachfasern ist z.B. aus der GB 945,306 A , der US 3,156,605 A , der US 3,318,990 , der GB 1,063,217 A und der DD 230 030 A1 bekannt. Solche Fasern wurden, wie zum Teil in den eben erwähnten Dokumenten beschrieben ist, insbesondere zur Verwendung bei der Papierherstellung vorgeschlagen.
  • Die DE 1 254 955 sowie die GB 1,064,475 beschäftigen sich mit Papier, das aus Viskosefasern mit flachem Querschnitt hergestellt ist.
  • Diese Dokumente beschreiben dabei als wünschenswert, dass die Fasern hohe Transparenz aufweisen, sodass auch das aus den Fasern hergestellte Papier transparent ist.
  • Zur Herstellung von Flachviskosefasern beschreibt die DE 1 254 955 fünf verschiedene Varianten. Zur Herstellung einer transparenten Faser wird allerdings konkret nur ein Ausführungsbeispiel geoffenbart. In diesem Beispiel wird der Viskosespinnmasse eine in Wasser quellende, hochmolekulare Substanz, nämlich Polyvinylalkohol (PVA) beigemischt. Ebenso wird der Spinnmasse Natriumcarbonat beigegeben. Die resultierende Faser ist somit eine kollabierte Hohlfaser, welche einen gewissen Anteil an PVA enthält.
  • Die vorliegende Erfindung stellt sich zur Aufgabe, eine Viskoseflachfaser zur Verfügung zu stellen, welche hohe Transparenz aufweist und sich insbesondere zur Herstellung von Papier eignet.
  • Die Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung wird durch eine regenerierte Cellulosefaser in Form einer massiven Viskoseflachfaser mit folgenden Eigenschaften gelöst:
    • Die Faser besteht zu mehr als 98% aus Cellulose
    • Das Verhältnis von Breite B zu Dicke D der Faser ist 10:1 oder größer
    • Die Faseroberfläche ist im wesentlichen glatt
    • Die Faser ist im wesentlichen transparent.
  • Die Erfindung betrifft weiters ein Faserbündel, welches die erfindungsgemäße Cellulosefaser enthält, ein Verfahren zur Herstellung der erfindungsgemäßen Cellulosefaser bzw. des Faserbündels sowie die Verwendung der erfindungsgemäßen Cellulosefaser bzw. des Faserbündels zur Herstellung von Vliesen und Papier.
  • In einem weiteren Aspekt betrifft die vorliegende Erfindung ein Papier, enthaltend die erfindungsgemäße Cellulosefaser.

    Detaillierte Beschreibung der Erfindung
  • Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein massive Viskoseflachfaser mit hoher Transparenz.
  • Unter "massiv" ist für die Zwecke der vorliegenden Erfindung eine Cellulosefaser zu verstehen, die keine hohle oder kollabierte Struktur aufweist. Die massive Cellulosefaser gemäß der vorliegenden Erfindung weist insbesondere keine Hohlräume und keine z.B. aufgrund des Kollabierens einer Hohlfaser resultierende Trennungslinie auf.
  • Es wurde überraschenderweise gefunden, dass es möglich ist, Viskoseflachfasern mit hoher Transparenz herzustellen, die massiv sind und keinen nennenswerten Anteil an quellenden, hochmolekularen Substanzen enthalten.
  • Bevorzugt besteht die erfindungsgemäße Faser im wesentlichen vollständig aus Cellulose. Unter "im wesentlichen" ist dabei zu verstehen, dass abgesehen von üblichen im Rahmen des Viskoseverfahrens im Endprodukt enthaltenen Prozesshilfstoffen wie z.B. einer Avivage keine weiteren Bestandteile, insbesondere keine in Wasser quellenden, hochmolekularen Substanzen enthalten sind. Eine Avivageauflage beträgt typischerweise 0,1% und nicht über 0,3%.
  • Die Oberfläche der erfindungsgemäßen Flachfaser ist im wesentlichen glatt. Unter der "Oberfläche" sind dabei die zwei die Breitseite der Faser definierenden Flächen zu verstehen.
  • Unter "im wesentlichen glatt" ist insbesondere zu verstehen, dass die Faser abgesehen von ihren Randbereichen im wesentlichen keine Rillen in Längsrichtung aufweist, welche eine Rillentiefe von mehr als 10%, insbesondere mehr als 5% der Faserdicke haben. Als "Rillen" sind dabei die für Standardviskosefasern typischen, im Verhältnis zur Breite der Faser kleinen Einbuchtungen in Längsrichtung zu verstehen, wie z.B. aus den Figuren 5 und 9 ersichtlich.
  • Aufgrund der für Viskosefasern typischen Schrumpfungsprozesse ist die Anwesenheit einer tieferen Rille bzw. Auswölbung an den Randbereichen der Faser zumeist nicht vermeidbar.
  • Die beiden Flächen der Faser, welche die Breitseite der Faser definieren, sind bevorzugt über einen Bereich von zumindest 90% der Faseroberfläche zueinander parallel.
  • Bevorzugt ist das Verhältnis von Breite B zu Dicke D der erfindungsgemäßen Faser 20:1 oder größer.
  • Der Titer der erfindungsgemäßen Faser kann 2 bis 40 dtex, insbesondere 2 bis 28 dtex betragen.
  • Die Faser kann bevorzugt als Kurzschnittfaser mit einer Schnittlänge von 2 bis 20 mm, besonders bevorzugt 3 bis 12 mm vorliegen. Insbesondere für die Anwendung in Vliesstoffen und Textilien kann die Faser auch als Stapelfaser in Schnittlängen von 30 mm bis 150 mm, insbesondere 40 bis 110 mm, besonders bevorzugt 40 mm (Baumwolltype) und 70 mm (Wolltype) vorliegen.
  • In einer weiteren bevorzugten Ausgestaltung der vorliegenden Erfindung kann die erfindungsgemäße Faser anionisch modifiziert sein.
  • Es wurde gefunden, dass eine anionische Modifizierung der Faser die Festigkeit von daraus hergestellten Papieren erhöht.
  • Bevorzugt wird die anionische Modifizierung der Faser dadurch erreicht, dass in die Faser Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) inkorporiert ist. Die Inkorporation von CMC in Viskosefasern wird unter anderem in der WO 2011/12423A beschrieben.
  • Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft auch ein Faserbündel, enthaltend eine Vielzahl von erfindungsgemäßen Cellulosefasern.
  • Als "Faserbündel" ist eine Vielzahl von Fasern zu verstehen, so z.B. Zellwolle (eine Vielzahl von Stapelfasern), ein Strang von Endlosfilamenten oder ein Ballen aus Fasern.
  • Im erfindungsgemäßen Faserbündel sind bevorzugt die Querschnitte der darin enthaltenen Cellulosefasern im wesentlichen gleich.
  • Das Verfahren zur Herstellung einer erfindungsgemäßen Cellulosefaser bzw. eines erfindungsgemäßen Faserbündels umfasst die folgenden Schritte:
    • Bereitstellen einer Viskosespinnmasse
    • Verspinnen der Viskosespinnmasse durch zumindest eine schlitzförmige Öffnung einer Spinndüse in ein Spinnbad unter Bildung von Spinnfäden,
      wobei
    • die Viskosespinnmasse einen Koagulationsverzögerer, insbesondere Polyethylenglykol, enthält
    • das Verhältnis von Länge zur Breite des Düsenschlitzes 10:1-30:1, bevorzugt 15:1 -25:1 beträgt
    • das Spinnbad einen Gehalt an H2SO4 von 110-140g/L, bevorzugt 120-130g/L aufweist
    • die Spinnfäden mit einem Düsenverzug von 2,0-3,0 abgezogen werden
    • die Spinnfäden nach dem Verlassen des Spinnbades in einem Verhältnis von 20%-35%; bevorzugt 25-35% verstreckt werden.
  • Es wurde überraschenderweise gefunden, dass durch die Kombination dieser Verfahrensmaßnahme massive Viskoseflachfasern mit hervorragender Transparenz herstellbar sind.
  • Durch die Zugabe eines Koagulationsverzögerers (insbesondere PEG) wird eine verzögerte Koagulation der Viskosespinnmasse im Spinnbad bewirkt. Dadurch wird der Zeitraum für die Diffusion der Flüssigkeit aus der Faser heraus verlängert und die Ausbildung einer glatten Oberfläche ermöglicht. Ebenso wird so die Zeit verlängert, in der Gasblasen aus der Faser herausdiffundieren können.
  • Erfindungsgemäß enthält die Viskose den Koagulationsverzögerer, insbesondere PEG, in einer Menge von 3 bis 6 Gew.%, bevorzugt 3 bis 5 Gew. %, insbesondere 3 bis 4 Gew.%, bezogen auf Cellulose.
  • Die Zugabe eines Koagulationsverzögerers bewirkt aber auch, dass die ausgesponnene Faser mehr Zeit zur Verringerung ihrer Oberfläche aufgrund ihrer Oberflächenspannung hat. Das führt im Normalfall dazu, dass die Faser sich mehr der runden Form annähert.
  • Diesem Effekt wird erfindungsgemäß auf verschiedene Weise entgegengewirkt:
    • Die Spinnfäden werden in ein Spinnbad mit relativ hoher Säurekonzentration (H2SO4) ausgesponnen. Dies unterstützt die Koagulation der Faser von außen her und bewirkt so eine Fixierung der Geometrie. Die übrigen Bestandteile des Spinnbades wie z.B. Na2SO4 und ZnSO4 können in für das Viskoseverfahren üblichen Konzentrationen enthalten sein.
    • Die Fasern werden mit erhöhtem Verzug und relativ hoher Verstreckung (wobei die Verstreckung in einem oder in mehreren Schritten durchgeführt werden kann, bevorzugt aber zumindest der Großteil der Verstreckung in einem frühen Verfahrensstadium, z.B. unmittelbar nach Verlassen des Spinnbades, durchgeführt wird) ausgesponnen. Durch diese Maßnahmen wird eine Entspannung der Struktur und so eine Abweichung von der flachen Form erschwert.
  • Die übrigen Verfahrensparameter können in für das Viskoseverfahren üblichen Bereichen gehalten werden. Als üblich versteht der Fachmann bezüglich der Spinnbadzusammensetzung einen Gehalt an Natriumsulfat von 250-400g/l und einen Gehalt an Zinksulfat von 5-20g/l. Eine typische Standardspinnviskose hat einen Gehalt an Cellulose von 8-10 Gew.% und einen Gehalt an NaOH von 5-9 Gew.%
  • Die erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrensparameter führen dazu, dass die Faser bevorzugt in Richtung ihrer Dicke (y-Richtung) schrumpft, wodurch sehr dünne Fasern mit sehr hohem Verhältnis von Breite zu Dicke und damit mit für die Papierherstellung besonders wünschenswerter großer Oberfläche entstehen.
  • Die erfindungsgemäßen Fasern eignen sich demgemäß hervorragend zur Verwendung in Papieren, insbesondere in transparenten Papieren.
  • Es wurde gefunden, dass ein 80grämmiges Laborblatt (Rapid-Köthen, DIN EN ISO 5269-2), hergestellt aus 100% einer auf 6 mm geschnittenen erfindungsgemäßen Faser eine Reißlänge (DIN EN ISO 1924-2) von mindestens 750m aufweisen kann.
  • Die Länge der erfindungsgemäßen Faser beträgt für die Verwendung zur Herstellung von Papier bevorzugt 3-12 mm.
  • Die erfindungsgemäßen Fasern eignen sich aber auch hervorragend zur Herstellung von Vliesen, z.B. wasserstrahlverfestigten Vliesen oder genadelten Vliesen.
  • Beispiele: Beispiel 1:
  • Viskose wurde durch eine Spinndüse mit schlitzförmigen Öffnungen mit einer Länge von 1000 µm und einer Breite von 60 µm wie folgt versponnen und weiterbehandelt:
    • Abzug: 52 m/min, dies entsprach einem Düsenverzug von 2,8
    • Verstreckung (nach Verlassen des Spinnbades): 30%
    • Viskose: Standardspinnviskose, enthaltend 4 Gew.% Polyethylenglycol (PEG) bezogen auf Cellulose.
    • Spinnbadzusammensetzung: 130g/l H2SO4; restliche Bestandteile im üblichen Bereich.
    • Nachbehandlung: Aufschwemmen, Waschen, Nachbehandlung, Schnitt auf 6mm (Kurzschnitt, nass)
  • Querschnitte der so erhaltenen Fasern sind in der Figur 1 dargestellt.
  • Die Faserquerschnitte sind sehr flach und dünn. Die beiden die Breitseite der Faser definierenden Flächen verlaufen praktisch über die gesamte Breite der Faser zueinander parallel. Lediglich an der Faserkante sind kleine Ausstülpungen vorhanden.
  • Die Breite B der Faser betrug 230 µm, ihre Dicke D 6 µm. Daraus ergibt sich ein Verhältnis B:D von 38:1 sowie ein Titer von 22 dtex.
  • Figur 2 zeigt eine Längsansicht der Faser. Deutlich ist zu sehen, dass die Faser praktisch vollständig transparent ist.
  • Ein Rapid-Köthen Blatt mit 80gsm aus 100% der erfindungsgemäßen Faser, welches ohne Verwendung von Zusatzstoffen hergestellt wurde, zeigt bereits eine Reißlänge von 1000m, was eine gute Handhabung des Blattes erlaubt. Solche Festigkeiten wurden bei Viskosefasern bisher nur mit einem Hohlfaserverfahren erreicht, welches einen weit höheren Produktionsaufwand erfordert.
  • Beispiel 2:
  • Viskose wurde durch eine Spinndüse mit schlitzförmigen Öffnungen mit einer Länge von 700 µm und einer Breite von 35 µm wie folgt versponnen und weiterbehandelt:
    • Abzug: 52m/min, dies entsprach einem Düsenverzug von 2,8
    • Verstreckung (nach Verlassen des Spinnbades): 30%
    • Viskose: Standardspinnviskose, enthaltend 4 Gew.% Polyethylenglycol (PEG) bezogen auf Cellulose.
    • Spinnbadzusammensetzung: 130g/l H2SO4; restliche Bestandteile im üblichen Bereich. Nachbehandlung: Aufschwemmen, Waschen, Nachbehandlung, Schnitt auf 6mm (Kurzschnitt, nass)
  • Figur 3 zeigt eine REM-Aufnahme des Faserquerschnitts der erhaltenen Fasern.
  • Die Faserquerschnitte sind sehr flach und dünn. Die beiden die Breitseite der Faser definierenden Flächen verlaufen praktisch über die gesamte Breite der Faser zueinander parallel. Lediglich an der Faserkante sind kleine Ausstülpungen vorhanden.
  • Die Breite B der Faser betrug 150 µm, ihre Dicke D 4 µm. Daraus ergibt sich ein Verhältnis B:D von 38:1 sowie ein Titer von 9 dtex.
  • Figur 4 zeigt eine REM-Aufnahme der glatten Oberfläche der Faser.
  • Wie aus den Figuren 3 und 4 ersichtlich, weist die Faser lediglich an ihrem Rand jeweils eine deutlich sichtbare Rille bzw. Auswölbung auf.
  • Ein Rapid-Köthen Blatt mit 80gsm aus 100% der erfindungsgemäßen Faser, welches ohne Verwendung von Zusatzstoffen hergestellt wurde, zeigt bereits eine Reißlänge von 2600m, was eine sehr gute Handhabung des Blattes erlaubt.
  • Beispiel 3:
  • Viskosefasern wurden unter ähnlichen Bedingungen wie in Beispiel 1 versponnen, allerdings enthielt die Spinnviskose kein PEG.
  • Die erhaltenen Fasern zeigen (siehe Figur 5) den für herkömmlich hergestellte massive Viskoseflachfasern typischen gezackten Querschnitt, d.h. zahlreiche Rillen in Längsrichtung, welcher eine Transparenz der Faser verhindert. Zudem werden auch keine Faser-Faser-Bindungen ausgebildet, was ebenfalls für die Herstellung von Papier nachteilig ist.
  • Beispiel 4:
  • Viskosefasern wurden unter ähnlichen Bedingungen wie in Beispiel 1 versponnen, allerdings wiesen die schlitzförmigen Öffnungen der Spinndüse eine Länge von 140µm und eine Breite von 25µm, also ein Verhältnis von Länge zu Breite von weniger als 10:1 auf. Der Titer betrug demgemäß 2,1 dtex.
  • Die Querschnitte der Fasern (siehe Figur 6) zeigen, dass abgesehen vom geringeren Verhältnis von Breite B zu Dicke D dieser Fasern die Querschnitte der Fasern weit weniger homogen ausgeprägt sind. Die Fasern weichen teilweise von der flachen Form ab und zeigen gebogene Querschnitte. Auch bedingt durch die nicht vollständig glatte und parallele Oberfläche sind die Fasern daher überwiegend nicht transparent. Der nicht vollständig flache Querschnitt macht die Faser zudem ungeeignet für den Zweck, aus ihnen ein ausreichend festes Papier zu bilden.
  • Beispiel 5:
  • Viskosefasern wurden unter ähnlichen Bedingungen wie in Beispiel 1 versponnen, allerdings enthielt die Viskosespinnmasse kein PEG und entsprachen die Spinneinstellungen (Verzug, Verstreckung, Spinnbadzusammensetzung) denen eines Standardviskoseverfahrens.
  • Die Fasern (Figur 7) zeigen erneut einen deutlich gezackten Querschnitt.
  • Die Längsansicht der Faser (siehe Figur 8) zeigt, dass die Faser nicht transparent ist. In der REM-Aufnahme der Oberfläche (siehe Figur 9) sind deutlich die Rillen an der Faseroberfläche zu sehen.

Claims (10)

  1. Regenerierte Cellulosefaser in Form einer massiven Viskoseflachfaser mit folgenden Eigenschaften:
    - Die Faser besteht zu mehr als 98% aus Cellulose
    - Das Verhältnis von Breite B zu Dicke D der Faser ist 10:1 oder größer
    - Die Faseroberfläche ist im wesentlichen glatt
    - Die Faser ist im wesentlichen transparent.
  2. Cellulosefaser gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Faser im wesentlichen vollständig aus Cellulose besteht.
  3. Cellulosefaser gemäß Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Verhältnis von Breite B zu Dicke D der Faser 20:1 oder größer ist.
  4. Cellulosefaser gemäß einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Faser anionisch modifiziert ist, insbesondere durch Inkorporation von Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC).
  5. Faserbündel, enthaltend eine Vielzahl von Cellulosefasern gemäß einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche.
  6. Faserbündel gemäß Anspruch 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Querschnitte der Cellulosefasern im wesentlichen gleich sind.
  7. Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Cellulosefaser bzw. eines Faserbündels gemäß einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, umfassend die Schritte:
    - Bereitstellen einer Viskosespinnmasse
    - Verspinnen der Viskosespinnmasse durch zumindest eine schlitzförmige Öffnung einer Spinndüse in ein Spinnbad unter Bildung von Spinnfäden,
    wobei
    - die Viskosespinnmasse einen Koagulationsverzögerer, insbesondere Polyethylenglykol, in einer Menge von 3 bis 6 Gew.%, bevorzugt 3 bis 5 Gew. %, insbesondere 3 bis 4 Gew.%, bezogen auf Cellulose, enthält
    - das Verhältnis von Länge zu Breite des Düsenschlitzes 10:1-30:1, bevorzugt 15:1 - 25:1 beträgt
    - das Spinnbad einen Gehalt an H2SO4 von 110-140g/L, bevorzugt 120-130g/L aufweist
    - die Spinnfäden mit einem Düsenverzug von 2,0-3,0 abgezogen werden
    - die Spinnfäden nach dem Verlassen des Spinnbades in einem Verhältnis von 20%-35%, bevorzugt 25-35% verstreckt werden.
  8. Verwendung einer Cellulosefaser bzw. des Faserbündels gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6 zur Herstellung von Vliesen und Papier.
  9. Papier, enthaltend eine Cellulosefaser bzw. ein Faserbündel gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6.
  10. Papier gemäß Anspruch 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass es transparent ist.
