Definitions

  • the invention relates to a glazing unit, in particular glazing unit for windows and doors according to the type given by the preamble of claim 1.
  • Such glazing units are known in different embodiments and are used, for example, in buildings such as in administrative centers, financial institutions, research institutes and other buildings with security precautions or secrecy requirements, where there is an increased need for burglar security.
  • the glazing units are used in land vehicles such as those protected against firearms ammunition and explosives, ships and aircraft.
  • such glazing units are also used in buildings where escape safety must be ensured from the building, such as in prison buildings, closed medical facilities or juvenile correctional facilities.
  • the glazing units are also used for burglary protection of non-lockable escape doors in buildings such as schools or other public buildings such as hospitals, concert halls, theaters, opera houses and the like.
  • thermoplastic material mainly polycarbonate.
  • silicate glass panes and a thermoplastic disc such as a polycarbonate disc requires the different thermal expansion of the two materials ensuring flexible recording or fixation.
  • thermoplastic plate is sandwiched between two glass plates.
  • the thermoplastic plate having a smaller area compared to the glass plates is received between the first and second glass plates from a U-shaped connecting rib provided toward their respective edge portions.
  • the outer edge of the unbreakable thermoplastic plate is enclosed by a channel.
  • a desiccant is provided in the U-shaped connecting rib, which is provided for drying the gaps between each of the two glass plates and the thermoplastic plate.
  • the channel of the linking rib is expanded by means of two projections which extend beyond each side of the thermoplastic sheet beyond the body of the connecting rib to have sufficient length to accommodate thermal expansion of the thermoplastic sheet over a normal ambient temperature range. This results in over a clamping of the window glazing unit lying storage of the thermoplastic plate as a disadvantage.
  • the patent publication WO 96/33334 also discloses a window glazing unit in which a breakthrough-resistant plastic disc is airtightly received at the edge between two silicate glass panes.
  • the plastic disc is thereby from a U-shaped profile taken along its edge, which is provided by means of a respective spacer element spaced from each of the parallel silicate glass panes.
  • the U-shaped profile is connected to a primary sealant with the spacer elements and secured at its bottom between the silicate glass panes with a secondary sealant.
  • a disadvantage of the inclusion of Kunsstoffin in the window glazing unit according to the WO 96/33334 is its three-part nature in the edge area of the thermoplastic disk. Because the introduced during a break-in or breakthrough attempt on the plastic disc forces must be absorbed by the spacer elements and the secondary sealant.

  • the disk of the plastic material is guided in a U-profile along its edge region.
  • the U-profile takes the disc of plastic material resiliently, wherein the legs of the U-profile are pressed to the outside and abut with a arranged to open the U-profile bead each on the disc of plastic material.
  • Each leg of the U-profile has on the outside an abutment portion which is supported on a respectively fixed between the disc of thermoplastic material and the silicate glass disc spacer.
  • thermoplastic disc Due to the resilient mounting of the thermoplastic disc large impact energies can be absorbed without causing a break or breakthrough of the thermoplastic disc.
  • a disadvantage of the multiple glazing unit according to the US 3,837,129 is the complex assembly including the high material usage, which is also costly. The profile protrudes into the visible area of a window provided with the multiple glazing unit, which is visually disadvantageous. Furthermore, the breakthrough safety is in need of improvement.

The space between the holder, the glass layers, the polycarbonate plate. the U-shaped channel is filled with a first sealant.
  • a second sealant such as butyl, is provided to fix the spacers between them and each of the glass layers and the polycarbonate sheet.
  • a desiccant filled in the spacers dries the spaces between the polycarbonate plate and each of the glass layers via an orifice channel in the spacers. The edging of the glass unit with the U-shaped metal holder constitutes an additional step in the manufacture of the glass unit, which proves disadvantageous in terms of time and cost.
  • the invention therefore has the task of simplifying the production and handling of the generic glazing unit while avoiding the disadvantages of the prior art.
