Definitions

  • the invention relates to a timepiece provided with a sound mechanism, such as a minute repeater mechanism, the noise level of which is particularly high.
  • European patent application no. EP 741,344 relates to a waterproof acoustic alarm security device in the form of a wristwatch comprising a housing having a waterproof part and a non-waterproof part separated by a vibratable membrane, a vibrator fixed to this membrane and electrical means for vibrating the vibrator and its associated membrane, the electrical means and the vibrator being in the sealed part of the housing. This document does not describe any other sound mechanism than the vibrator and its associated membrane.
  • EP 1,892,592 describes a timepiece comprising a case having a sealed part and a non-sealed part separated by a filter which may be a metallic film, a stamp and a striking mechanism comprising a hammer intended to strike this stamp, this striking mechanism and this stamp being located in the sealed part of the case.
  • the document CH290046 describes an alarm watch.
  • the watch includes a movement and a bell housed in the middle of a box.
  • a protective cap is arranged so that the movement and the bell are on either side of the cap.
  • a striking device makes it possible to ring the bell through the cap.
  • the sound emitted by the bell can be propagated outside the box by gills made in a bottom of the box.
  • the bell can be replaced by a vibrating blade stamp.
  • the cap can be waterproof and moisture proof.
  • the timepieces proposed in these patent applications have in particular to seek to obtain a high noise level while maintaining a satisfactory seal.
  • the major aim of the present invention is to increase still the noise level produced by a timepiece while retaining, or even improving, its water resistance.
  • this object is achieved by a timepiece as defined in independent claim 1.
  • the invention also relates to a method of manufacturing such a timepiece.
  • the ringing information originating from the striking mechanism is reproduced in a different environment from that in which this mechanism is located.
  • the movements of the striking mechanism are faithfully reproduced outside the sealed volume in which this striking mechanism is located and in this way, the emission of sounds is carried out with maximum efficiency.
  • the particularity of the timepiece according to the invention is therefore that its stamp (s) is / are located in the non-sealed part of the case.
  • the timepiece according to the invention comprises transmission means provided for transmitting movements of the striking mechanism, which occur in the sealed part of the case, to the stamp (s), the whole of which is located in the part non-waterproof housing.
  • the case 1 of the timepiece includes a waterproof part 2 and a non-waterproof part 3.
  • the non-waterproof part 3 generally at least partially surrounds the waterproof part 2.
  • the wall 8 of the housing 1 has two holes 4 crossed by strikers 5 preferably of generally cylindrical shape and provided at one end with a shoulder 6.
  • Parts called sealing barrels 7 are fixed in the holes 4 of the wall 8 and crossed by the strikers 5.
  • Return springs 9 are arranged around the strikers 5, between the shoulders 6 and the ends of the sealing barrels 7 in order to push the strikers 5 towards the sealed part 2 of the housing 1.
  • stamps 10 are arranged so that they can be struck by the ends of the strikers 5.
  • the other ends of the latter are in the watertight part 2 of the housing 1, so that it can be struck by hammers 11 forming part of a striking mechanism 40.
  • This striking mechanism is a mechanism producing a sound mechanically. It may be a mechanism of a known type and which therefore does not need to be shown in more detail. Mention may be made, for example, of a conventional alarm striking mechanism, the conventional minute repeater, quarter repeater, large striking mechanisms, and the mechanism which is the subject of European patent application no. EP 1,852,755 .
  • the non-watertight part 3 of the housing 1 is provided, on the outside of the housing 1, with openings 13 of any shape, for example round, allowing the output of the sound produced by the timbres 10.
  • parts forming a resonance chamber 12 are placed in the openings 13, opposite the timbres 10, so as to amplify the sound produced.
  • the two stamps 10 are located, one of them being able to be an hour stamp and the other a minute stamp, these stamps being respectively struck by an hour hammer and a minute hammer.
  • the hammers are one above the other, but it goes without saying that, as a variant, they can very well be placed one next to the other, on the same level.
  • the leaktight 2 and non-leaktight parts 3 are separated at least partially by an elastic membrane arranged so as to transmit the movements of the striking mechanism to the stamp (s).
  • This membrane must have sufficient fineness and elasticity to guarantee its displacement in the event of impacts caused by the striking mechanism, but nevertheless rigid enough, on the one hand, not to vibrate itself under the effect of impacts due to striking mechanism or to the wearer of the timepiece and, on the other hand, so that, when it strikes a stamp, it can vibrate.
  • the membrane can therefore be made of a material, such as rubber, a metal or a polymer such as an organic polymer, in particular an elastomer, which must also allow it to be integral with a part of the housing 1 , for example, the middle, the back or the bezel. It can be fixed by any suitable means, for example example, by pinching, gluing, welding, these operations must allow the sealing of the waterproof part 2 of the housing 1
  • the membrane must be located in a place which allows the hammers of the striking mechanism to strike it, preferably as centrally as possible. Thanks to its flexibility, it can then accurately reproduce the rhythm and movements which must be transmitted from the sealed volume to the non-sealed volume of the case. Then, it must be able to return to its initial position without vibrating.
  • the hammers of the striking mechanism are fixed directly to the membrane and pass through it so as to be able to strike the stamp (s) in the non-sealed part 3 of the housing 1.
  • the membrane designated by the number 14 is provided with at least one striker 15 intended to be struck, sealed side, by the striking mechanism and to strike, non-sealed side, a stamp.
  • This striker 15 is fixed integrally and generally irremovable, to the membrane 14 by any suitable means, for example, by bonding, welding, crimping or driving. It can take various forms, in particular a ball shape. It is intended to restore a mechanical shock, received on the waterproof side, to a stamp 10 located on the non-waterproof side of the housing 1. Thanks to the elasticity and the shape memory of the membrane 14, after having transmitted this shock, it can return to its original position.
  • the striker 15 may for example be in the form of a ball 1 mm in diameter.
  • the surface of the disc formed by the ball when it is cut in its center can therefore be equal to or close to that of the hammer before striking it.
  • the membrane 19 comprises a striker 18 composed of a part 20 called “receiving sub-striker”, located in the sealed part 2 of the housing 1 and intended to be struck by a hammer 11 of the striking mechanism, as well as a part 21 called “stamp sub-striker”, located in the non-waterproof part 3 of the housing 1 and intended to strike a stamp 10.
  • a striker 18 composed of a part 20 called “receiving sub-striker”, located in the sealed part 2 of the housing 1 and intended to be struck by a hammer 11 of the striking mechanism, as well as a part 21 called “stamp sub-striker”, located in the non-waterproof part 3 of the housing 1 and intended to strike a stamp 10.
  • the receiving sub-striker 20 and the stamp sub-striker 21 may be made of any suitable material.
  • They can be made of different materials, take different shapes and be assembled together and on the membrane 19 by any appropriate means, for example by screwing, driving, riveting, gluing or welding, in a non-removable or removable manner if the it is desired to be able to repair them, modify them or replace them with a view in particular to improving the kinematic transmission, the efficiency of movements, the mechanical rebound characteristics and / or the speed of propagation of waves in the material which constitutes them.
  • the striker 18 When the striker 18 is alone on the membrane 19, it is preferably located in the center of the latter.
  • the membrane 22 is divided into two parts, preferably equal, and provided with two strikers 23,24 each composed of a receiving sub-striker 26,28 and a stamp sub-striker 25,27, one of the strikers 23 and 24 being assigned to a first stamp and the other to a second stamp.
  • the stamps which are the vibrating organs, according to the invention, they are fixed in the non-watertight part 3 of the case 1, for example, to the middle part, the back, the bezel or any other component part of the part of watchmaking. They can be concentric with the middle part, when the latter is circular. Thus, because they are located in the non-watertight part 3 of the casing 1 and that the latter is generally situated around the watertight part 2, they have the advantage of being able to be of a larger perimeter than that of the stamps. of the prior art which are housed in the sealed part of the housing. This difference in perimeter is directly reflected in a higher volume of sounds produced by the timbres.
  • stamps are, according to the invention, in the non-sealed part 3 of the housing 1, that is to say that which is provided with openings 13, which allows to leave the sounds easily escape from the housing 1.
  • the Figures 7 and 8 represent a timepiece according to the invention comprising the variant of membrane represented on the figure 6 .
  • a shoe 29 which is a part whose function is to support the stamps 30 which are fixed on this shoe generally by driving, gluing or welding.
  • the stamps 30 are located one above the other, but, alternatively, they can be placed one next to the other, on the same level.
  • the membrane 22 is fixed in its center 31 to a part of the housing 1, which divides it into two equal parts each carrying a striker 23,24.
  • the stamps 30 represented on the Figures 7 and 8 are classic stamps of substantially circular shape, like those visible on the figure 3 of the aforementioned European patent application EP 1,852,755 .
  • the stamps 10 have the form of a plate, like the stamps of a xylophone, and each is associated with its own sound box 12.
  • the shape of these sound boxes can be chosen so as to meet aesthetic criteria.
  • the shoe 29 carrying the stamps 30 and which is visible on the Figures 7 and 8 is separated from the case 1 by an intermediate piece whose function is to isolate the stamps 30 so that their vibrations are not weakened by the absorption by one of the components of the case of the timepiece.
  • one or more of the hammer (s) is / are able (s) to actuate each a switch associated with an electrical system, which electrical system is suitable to send an electric current to one or more vibrator (s) or actuator (s) associated with the timbre (s) provided to cooperate with the respective hammer (s), so that the movements of the hammer (s) are transmitted electrically to the corresponding stamp (s).
  • One of the advantages of the invention is that the manufacture of the timepiece does not require any major modification of the known striking mechanisms (alarm, minute repeater, etc.).
  • the invention can therefore be used with all types of ringtone which emit a sound by using a back-and-forth system with a coin striking another coin.
  • the main feature of the production of the timepiece according to the invention is that there is at least one stamp in the non-sealed part of the case.
