Claims (11)

  1. A method for continuously machining the edges of a panel (11), preferably a furniture panel, which is coated with an edge strip, wherein after the application of the edge strip a projecting portion on at least one side of the edge strip is removed by machining, characterized in that during the passage of the panel (11) a dimensionally stable polishing compound (13) is pressed against a polishing tool (12), said polishing tool contacting the machined edge of the edge strip so as to polish said edge, wherein the polishing compound (13) is applied in an intermittent manner to the polishing tool (12).
