Definitions
- the present invention relates to a clasp for a wristwatch, and a bracelet and a wristwatch as such comprising such a clasp.
- the first solution is simple and consists in providing the ends of each strand with cooperation means, in the form for example of a simple loop and a barb on the one hand cooperating with holes on the other hand.
- cooperation means in the form for example of a simple loop and a barb on the one hand cooperating with holes on the other hand.
- Such a solution has the disadvantage that when opening the cooperation means, the two strands of the bracelet are immediately disengaged and lead to a risk of falling of the wristwatch.
- an intermediate clasp type element disposed between the two bracelet strands, which remains always integral with the ends of these two strands.
- Such a clasp occupies two positions: a closed position, intended for the wearing of the watch, in which the bracelet and the clasp extend around the circumference of the wrist with a total length allowing the wristwatch to be held, and a open position that increases the length of the bracelet and the clasp, by separating the two ends of the two strands of the bracelet, without detaching the clasp, to allow the passage of the hand and the removal of the watch.
- the two strands of the bracelet are not disconnected, which minimizes the risk of falling of the watch.
- the document US2126263 describes a bracelet clasp comprising a sliding element within a lid, to adjust the length of the bracelet.
- the adjustment of this length is not a notch between two components.
- the sliding element retains a slight elastic mobility under the effect of a spring.
- a first object of the invention is to provide a closing solution of a watch strap around the wrist of a wearer that minimizes the risk of falling of the watch.
- a second object of the invention is to provide a closing solution of a watch strap around the wrist of a wearer which allows an optimal and user-friendly adjustment of the length of the bracelet in all the conditions of use of the watch, even when practicing scuba diving for example.
- the invention is based on a clasp comprising two cooperation elements intended for a connection with respectively two ends of two distinct strands of a bracelet, this clasp comprising a first precision device for adjusting the length of the bracelet, characterized in that the clasp further comprises a second elastic adjustment device of the length of the bracelet.
- the invention is based firstly on a clasp permanently connected to the ends of the two strands of a bracelet to minimize the risk of falling a wristwatch, as has been explained above. Then, this clasp is equipped with a first precision adjustment device, allowing small changes in length to fit with Flexibility to changes around the wrist and adapt its comfort. It is finally equipped with a second elastic adjustment device, of greater amplitude of length, making it possible to face the greatest variations of length, automatically, to adapt to particular uses as during the diving. -marine for example.
- the clasp comprises two blades 1, 2 hinged together at a connecting axis 3 forming an axis of rotation, the first blade 1 being further articulated about an axis 4 to a first end 21 of a lid 20.

- the cover 20 comprises an arrangement for fixing the end of a second strand of bracelet, not shown, adapted to extend from the second end 22 of the cover 20.
- the latter also carries a member 27 on which is mounted a fastener 26 towards the first end 21 of the cover, intended to cooperate with the fastening element 7 of the second blade 2 to implement the locking and unlocking of the clasp to obtain its two closed and open positions, conventional way.
- the two blades 1, 2 can occupy two different configurations, in known manner.
- the first opening configuration of the clasp for example partially represented by the figure 1
- the free end of the second blade 2 is released from its attachment on the lid 20, which allows the deployment of the two blades 1, 2 which can be spaced apart by rotation about the connecting pins 3, 4, allowing the removal of the wristwatch wrist.
- the second closure configuration of the clasp for example represented by the Figures 7 to 9
- the two blades are folded over one another and superimposed on the cover 20, which hides them. The latter thus fulfills at the same time an aesthetic function.
- the fastening element 7 of the second blade 2 cooperates with the fastening element 26 of the cover 20 to allow their attachment and the closing and tightening of the assembly formed by the bracelet and the clasp around the 'a wrist.
- the closure and the release of the cooperation between the second blade 2 and the lid 20 are actuated by means of a gripping member 29 integral with the member 27.
- a lock 8 is also provided for secure the closure of the clasp. This mechanism of the clasp is conventional and will not be more detailed.
- the cover 20 comprises two flanges 23 which extend over substantially its entire length, perpendicular to its upper planar surface forming a wall 24, to delimit a volume which incorporates clasp adjusting devices, which will be detailed later, as well as only partially the two blades 1, 2 in the closed position of the clasp, as has been explained above, ensuring an attractive appearance of the clasp by hiding the components of these adjustment devices that are not visible from the outside, since the visible upper face of the lid.
- the wall 24 extending between the two flanges 23 of the cover 20, more particularly visible on the figure 2 comprises notches, in particular three, 25a to 25c, hollowed on its surface, intended to be oriented towards the wrist of its carrier.
- the interior volume of the lid 20 comprises devices for adjusting the length of the bracelet, particularly visible on the Figures 3 to 6 .
- a bracelet 10 mesh mounted movably within the cover 20, which comprises a carriage 11 and a pawl 12 mounted to rotate about a connecting pin 13 on the carriage 11.
- connection of the ratchet 12 on the carriage 11 is controlled by springs of torsion 14 mounted on the connecting pin 13, which tend to maintain a beak 15 of the pawl 12, more particularly visible on the Figures 6 to 9 , in contact with the wall 24 of the cover 20, so as to cooperate with the notches 25a to 25c, as will be detailed later.
- the carriage 11 is connected to the cover 20 by traction springs 16, a first end 18 of which is connected to the cover 20 and a second to the carriage 11, more precisely to an axis 17 distinct from the connecting pivot axis 13 the pawl 12.
- Their first end 18 is fixed in a mobile manner in translation, by a transverse axis mechanism whose ends are in grooves 28 of the member 27 which is integral with the cover 20 and disposed between its flanges 23.
- the two axes 13, 17 of the carriage 11 are parallel and extend over the entire width of the cover 20 so that their ends cooperate with slides or slides 30 arranged within the edges 23 of the cover 20.
- the carriage 11 is movable relative to the lid 20, in a movement defined by the shape of the slides 30. This movement can have any direction, close to a translation or be slightly curved.
- the carriage may be subjected to an elastic return force exerted by the traction springs 16, as will be explained later.
- the adjustment of the length of a bracelet cooperating with this clasp is obtained by pivoting the pawl 12 relative to the carriage 11, so as to move its spout 15 from the cover 20 by allowing it to escape the possible grip of a notch. 25a to 25c.
- the mesh 10 that is to say the assembly formed by the carriage 11 and the pawl 12, is then free to move relative to the cover 20 to allow adjustment of its positioning.
- an indicator 19 is arranged on the surface of this mesh, so as to appear in a longitudinal slot 31 formed in the wall 24 of the cover 20 and cooperate with the visual cues 24a, 24b, 24c formed on the wall 24 of the cover 20, to display the positioning of the mesh and therefore the chosen length adjustment, as represented by the figure 10 .
- the ends 32 of a bracelet strand visible on the figure 4 , are attached to the mesh 10, more particularly to the end of its pawl 12, and thus allows the relative movement of this bracelet strand relative to the lid, to thereby adjust the length of the bracelet.
- FIGS 7 to 9 in particular illustrate the operation of the first precision adjustment. They represent the clasp in the closed position, with respectively three different settings of strap length, implemented by the positioning of the spout 15 of the pawl 12 in respectively the notches 25a to 25c.
- each notch 25a to 25c makes it possible to obtain a different length of the bracelet since the ends 32 of the strand are fixed to the two ends of the pawl 12 by a cooperation element 35.
- the various notches are spaced slightly apart, for example spaced every 2 mm, to allow fine precision adjustment of the length of the bracelet.
- any other number of notches greater than or equal to 2 may be implemented, the spacing of which may also vary, for example from 1 to 5 mm.
- the setting of the adjustment of the length of the bracelet is more particularly represented by the Figures 5 and 6 , respectively in view from below and from the side.
- the clasp When the clasp is open, its two blades 1, 2 are spaced from the cover 20 and allow access to the pawl 12.
- the latter is pivoted about its connecting axis 13 with the carriage 11, until the escape of its beak 15 of the grip of one of the notches 25a to 25c.
- the carriage 11, and even the whole of the mesh 10 is then movable relative to the cover 20, by guiding along the lateral slides 30 mentioned above. This movement of the mesh entails at the same time the ends 32 of the bracelet strand which are connected to it.
- the pawl 12, and the end of the strand connected thereto are oriented in a direction substantially perpendicular to the upper wall 24 of the lid during this adjustment phase, which allows their manual gripping user-friendly to easily drive the l all of the mesh 10 moving to make the adjustment. Then there is only to release the pawl 12 so that it automatically repositions itself towards the wall 24 of the cover, in alignment with the carriage 11, which remains mobile until a notch 25a to 25c is reached, in which case the spout 15 of the pawl is automatically housed under the effect of the torsion springs.
- the Figures 11 to 13 illustrate more particularly the operation of the second elastic adjustment of the length of the bracelet, for example intended for the practice of scuba diving.
- the mesh 10 occupies a position beyond the zone of notches 25a to 25c mentioned above, towards the end 22 of the lid, and moves on a second stroke between this end 22 and the last notch 25c.
- the spout 15 of the pawl 12 no longer cooperates with notches, but moves in a continuous hollow zone 36 of the inner surface of the cover, and the mesh 10 is free to move relative to the cover 20, according to the guide slides 30. It also undergoes the elastic return force of the tension springs 16 whose end 18 is now in abutment on the cover 20.
- the figure 11 illustrates a first position of the mesh as an example, to obtain the largest length of the bracelet.
- the mesh is in its position closest to the end 22 of the lid 20. This position is for example reached when a user has his watch over a diving suit on the surface of the water.
- the mesh automatically moves under the return force of the traction springs 16, which work in traction over the entire second race of the mesh, so that the bracelet remains permanently at the length of the wrist.
- the tensile force of the springs is defined to represent a good compromise to achieve both a good support and a comfortable wearing of the wristwatch.
- the Figures 12 and 13 illustrate for this purpose two different intermediate positions, for which the mesh 10 has moved on its second race under the effect of the springs traction 16, in the direction of reducing the length of the bracelet.
- This second race ends when the spout 15 of the pawl 12 abuts on the outer wall of the last notch 25c belonging to the first precision adjustment device, as represented by FIG. figure 13 .
- This second race of the mesh may be of the order of 15 mm, preferably between 10 and 20 mm, or even between 5 and 25 mm.
- the traction springs 16 are in very slight extension according to this embodiment.
- the clasp according to the embodiment of the invention has the advantage of combining two different and complementary adjustment functions, using two adjustment devices, offering a very wide range of use. Wide and user-friendly wristwatch.
- the two adjustment devices comprise certain components in common and other distinct.
- the clasp further comprises a first conventional initial attachment of the bracelet, before the implementation of the two settings described in detail above.
- the mesh could take another form, its carriage could move with different mobility and / or by different means of cooperation with the lid.
- the ratchet can have any other form, such as a simple lever.
- the beak / notch cooperation has been illustrated by way of example but any other equivalent connection can be envisaged, such as tooth / rack, stud / opening, etc.
- the mesh may comprise any elastic element tending to press a fastener of the mesh towards a complementary fastening element arranged on the clasp.
- the torsion springs 14 and the traction springs 16 could be replaced by any other equivalent elastic element.
- the elastic element participating in the effort to return the mesh along its second race for the implementation of the second elastic adjustment, can be set differently.
- its first end could be fixed, non-moving, according to a simplified execution.
- the architecture of the clasp itself may be different.
- the invention has been illustrated from a bracelet associated with a wristwatch, which is also concerned as such by this invention.

Description
The present invention relates to a clasp for a wristwatch, and a bracelet and a wristwatch as such comprising such a clasp.
There are several solutions for hanging the two strands of a watch strap around the wrist of its wearer. The first solution is simple and consists in providing the ends of each strand with cooperation means, in the form for example of a simple loop and a barb on the one hand cooperating with holes on the other hand. Such a solution has the disadvantage that when opening the cooperation means, the two strands of the bracelet are immediately disengaged and lead to a risk of falling of the wristwatch.
To overcome this drawback, another solution is to provide an intermediate clasp type element disposed between the two bracelet strands, which remains always integral with the ends of these two strands. Such a clasp occupies two positions: a closed position, intended for the wearing of the watch, in which the bracelet and the clasp extend around the circumference of the wrist with a total length allowing the wristwatch to be held, and a open position that increases the length of the bracelet and the clasp, by separating the two ends of the two strands of the bracelet, without detaching the clasp, to allow the passage of the hand and the removal of the watch. In this open configuration of the clasp, the two strands of the bracelet are not disconnected, which minimizes the risk of falling of the watch.
However, existing solutions implementing a clasp are not adapted to all the conditions of use of the watch and remain insufficient, even if they reduce the risk of falling a watch. Indeed, if the wearer of the wristwatch wishes for example to practice scuba diving, he usually needs to fix his watch over a wetsuit. Then, as the diver descends deeper and deeper, the increasing pressure significantly changes the length of the circumference of his wrist. In practice, the precision adjustment existing on the clasps is unsuitable for such use of the watch for the practice of scuba diving.
Finally, there is therefore a need for a solution to wear a wristwatch, which allows to retain the benefits of the state of the art while reducing its disadvantages.
This is why the invention seeks to achieve all or part of the following objects.
A first object of the invention is to provide a closing solution of a watch strap around the wrist of a wearer that minimizes the risk of falling of the watch.
A second object of the invention is to provide a closing solution of a watch strap around the wrist of a wearer which allows an optimal and user-friendly adjustment of the length of the bracelet in all the conditions of use of the watch, even when practicing scuba diving for example.
For this purpose, the invention is based on a clasp comprising two cooperation elements intended for a connection with respectively two ends of two distinct strands of a bracelet, this clasp comprising a first precision device for adjusting the length of the bracelet, characterized in that the clasp further comprises a second elastic adjustment device of the length of the bracelet.
The invention is precisely defined by the claims.

The invention is based firstly on a clasp permanently connected to the ends of the two strands of a bracelet to minimize the risk of falling a wristwatch, as has been explained above.
A particular embodiment of such a clasp will now be described in detail without limitation.
The
In addition, the

Finally, as has been explained, the clasp according to the embodiment of the invention has the advantage of combining two different and complementary adjustment functions, using two adjustment devices, offering a very wide range of use. Wide and user-friendly wristwatch. In the embodiment described, the two adjustment devices comprise certain components in common and other distinct. The clasp further comprises a first conventional initial attachment of the bracelet, before the implementation of the two settings described in detail above.
Of course, many of the components of these adjusters may be different. For example, the mesh could take another form, its carriage could move with different mobility and / or by different means of cooperation with the lid. In addition, the ratchet can have any other form, such as a simple lever. Similarly, the beak / notch cooperation has been illustrated by way of example but any other equivalent connection can be envisaged, such as tooth / rack, stud / opening, etc. The mesh may comprise any elastic element tending to press a fastener of the mesh towards a complementary fastening element arranged on the clasp. In addition, the torsion springs 14 and the traction springs 16 could be replaced by any other equivalent elastic element. The elastic element participating in the effort to return the mesh along its second race, for the implementation of the second elastic adjustment, can be set differently. In particular, its first end could be fixed, non-moving, according to a simplified execution. In general, the architecture of the clasp itself may be different.
The invention has been illustrated from a bracelet associated with a wristwatch, which is also concerned as such by this invention. Alternatively, the clasp can be associated with any other bracelet, for any object to be fixed on a wrist or any other part. This object can be a scuba diving accessory such as a depth gauge or a scuba diving computer, for example, or a jewelery component.
