Claims (10)

  1. Equipment for applying adhesive segments to continuously moving parcels comprising a) means for guiding, towards a rotating plate (7), an adhesive strip (6) unwinding from a roll; b) on the rotating plate (7) several identical stations P having means M for holding the adhesive strip (6) and then an adhesive segment (5) cut from the strip; c) external means for cutting the strip (6) to create the adhesive segment (5); d) means for transferring the adhesive segment (5) onto a moving parcel (4) and e) means for pressing the ends of the adhesive segment (5) against opposite faces of the parcel (4), characterized in that each of the stations P borne by the plate (7) comprises means (12 to 15 and 36 to 38) for transferring the adhesive segment and means (23 and 24) for pressing the ends of this segment, these means consisting of two scissor stays, respectively the anterior arm (12-13) and the posterior arm (14-15), having one arm (12, 14) connected to the plate (7) in an articulated manner and another arm (13, 15) bearing a pressing roller (23, 24), these arms being retracted elastically into the inactive position within the confines of the plate and cooperating with stationary control wheels (36, 37) causing, by the rotation of the plate (7) and in each successive station (P1 to P4), i) the free arm (13) of the anterior scissor stay (12-13) to extend with its roller (23) rolling against the anterior end of the adhesive segment (5) in order to press it against the anterior face (4a) of the moving parcel (4); then ii) the free arm (15) of the posterior scissor stay (14-15) to extend beyond the plate (7) with its roller (24) rolling against the posterior end of the adhesive segment (5) in order to press it against the posterior face (4b) of the parcel (4).
  2. Equipment for applying adhesive segments according to Claim 1, characterized in that the plate (7) is arranged above the conveyor (3) moving the parcels (4) and is secured to a drive shaft (8) which is mounted so as to rotate about a horizontal axis (X'-X) arranged transverse to the direction of motion of the parcels (4).
  3. Equipment for applying adhesive segments according to Claim 1, characterized in that the plate (7a) is secured to a drive shaft (8a) which is mounted so as to rotate about a vertical axis (Z'-Z) and is arranged to one side of the conveyor (3) moving the parcels (4) and such that the arms of its scissor stays, in the extended state, come to be on either side of the parcels (4) being moved by the conveyor.
  4. Equipment for applying adhesive segments according to Claim 1, characterized in that, in each station (P1 to P4) borne by the plate (7), the arm (12 or 14) of each scissor stay (12-13, 14-15) which is connected to the plate (7) in an articulated manner is associated with spring means (25) which tend to return it to the inactive position against a stop (28, 21) of the plate whereas, on one hand, the anterior scissor stay (12-13) comprises in the articulation (17) of its arms spring means (30) which tend to hold said arms in the separated position, pressing against a stop (28) borne by the plate and, on the other hand, the posterior scissor stay (14-15) comprises in the articulation (19) of its arms spring means (33) which tend to bring its arms closer together.
  5. Equipment for applying adhesive segments according to Claim 1 in conjunction with Claim 4, characterized in that, in each station (P1 to P4) of the plate, the spindles (16 and 18) the purpose of which is to connect the anterior (12-13) and posterior (14-15) scissor stays, respectively, to the plate (7) in an articulated manner, are of different lengths so that the posterior scissor stay (14-15) moves freely in a space between the plate (7) and the space in which the anterior scissor stay moves, whereas the control wheels (36 and 37) are borne by a spindle (38) which is secured to the stationary frame (2) of the equipment, and on which spindle these control wheels are arranged with a separation so that one comes into contact only with the elements of the anterior scissor stay (12-13) and the other comes into contact only with the elements (14-15) of the posterior scissor stay.
  6. Equipment for applying adhesive segments according to Claim 1, characterized in that the plate (7) bears four stations (P1 to P4) positioned at equal angular intervals and interposed between four assemblies (M1 to M4) for holding the adhesive strip (6) and the adhesive segment (5), each holding assembly comprising a fixed jaw (50) borne by the edge of the plate (7) and a movable jaw (49) arranged at the free end of a first-order lever (53) attached to the back of the plate in an articulated manner, the other end (56) of which lever is designed to come into contact with a fixed cam (58) of the frame.
  7. Equipment for applying adhesive segments according to Claim 1 in conjunction with Claim 6, characterized in that the movable jaw (49) comprises two fingers (52) separated transversely and each designed to come to press against one of the two bearing surfaces (48) of a shoulder of the fixed jaw (50) in order to grip the adhesive strip (6) at that point.
  8. Equipment for applying adhesive segments according to Claim 1 in conjunction with Claims 6 and 7, characterized in that each fixed jaw (50) consists of two elements (50a, 50b) which are separated transversely forming a slot (60) through which the cutting blade (62) of cutting means external to the plate can pass, said blade projecting from the free end of a lever (63) which, attached to the frame (2) in an articulated manner, is permanently subjected to return means having a spring (79) which tend to keep it in the cutting position whereas, on one hand, the plate (7) comprises, ahead of each station (P1 to P4), an arming roller (65) designed to come to press against the lever (63) in order to cause it to pivot away from the plate, removing the blade 62 from between the elements of the fixed jaw (60) and loading the lever return spring (79) and, on the other hand, this lever comprises a recess at the end of the lever for accommodating the roller 65 and triggering the cutting action.
  9. Equipment for applying adhesive segments according to Claim 8, characterized in that the blade (62) is arranged so as to block off the recess (66) for accommodating the roller (65) and is borne by a support (67), mounted at the end of the lever (63) so as to be able to pivot, which is subjected to spring-loaded means 80 which return it to the position blocking off the recess (66) while nonetheless allowing it to pivot in order to allow the roller to pass.
  10. Equipment for applying adhesive segments according to Claim 1, characterized in that the geared electric motor (70) which drives the plate (7) in rotation is controlled by a sensor (72) which detects when a parcel (4) passes through in order to trigger the supply thereof, and by a sensor (73) which detects reference points on the plate indicating the end of an application cycle and is able to cause this geared motor to stop.
