  • the present invention relates to a method and a machine for making bags such as square bottom bags, having flat handles made of folded, cut, glued materials.

Description

Domaine techniqueTechnical area

The present invention relates to a method and a machine for making bags such as square bottom bags, having flat handles made of folded, cut, glued materials.

Etat de la techniqueState of the art

Bags are used, in particular in commerce, for customers to take their purchases. Such bags are sometimes made of paper, partially or totally, and have a tubular part open at one end and closed at the other end by a bottom, for example of rectangular or square shape. These bags are called square bottom bags. Some of these bags are fitted with handles so that they can be easily transported.

We know from the document US 3,439,591 a method of manufacturing bags comprising such handles. Starting from a continuous strip of paper, transverse notches are made and U-shaped handles are placed on either side of the notches, gluing the legs of the handles to the strip on only one side of the notch . Reinforcement sheets are deposited by gluing on each leg in order to strengthen the connection with the wall of the bag. Then, the strip is folded back on itself to form a hose, which is cut into sections in the extension of the notches. A bottom is formed by folding and gluing flaps at the end of the section opposite to that which carries the handles. The bag is thus finished, with handles that protrude from the open end of the bag. This document also shows a handle manufacturing station. Such a machine requires a stacking station specific, due to the size of the handles which protrude from the body of the bag.

The handles are developed on a fixed station. During this development, the legs of the handles are oriented in the direction of travel of the strip. The legs are clamped between a cylinder which guides the belt and a segment transport. The drive of the handles is brutal, the handles having to change from a very low speed to the running speed of the web very quickly. This insertion of the handles is a cause of limiting the production rate of the bags.

It is proposed in the document US 5,609,556 provide the handles so that they do not protrude from the opening of the bag. This limits the size of the bag for storage and transport. For this, the handle is formed on a rotating drum, the periphery of which is tangent to the path of the wall. The drum receives along a generator a strip of previously cut material forming a strap which it maintains at two points. The strap is retained during the rotation of the drum so as to fold it near the holding points in an oblique fold and form the legs of the handle at right angles to a cross member held between the two holding points. Then, the legs of the handles are folded back on themselves by a folding station to form a base, before being deposited and glued by the base to the wall of the bag. At the folding station, a blade carried by a folding roller marks the fold on the legs, which raises the bases. A folding bar that moves faster than the periphery of the drum drives the bases to fold them over the legs.

Retaining means temporarily fix the handle along the wall of the bag, until the user of the bag goes against these retaining means to deploy the handle. However, this arrangement does not allow reinforcement sheets to be fitted since the space normally covered by such sheets is already occupied by the folded handle. Thus, the load admitted by such bags is limited. Moreover, when of the use of the bag, one acts against the provisional holding means by moving the handles away from one another. In the end, a concentrated traction is exerted in particular on the bonding of the base to the wall at the junction with the rest of the handle. This concentration of traction is liable to initiate rapid tearing at this level either of the wall or of the bonding.

Furthermore, the use of a drum for the installation of the handles makes it possible to obtain greater rates, since the handle has already reached the running speed of the strip.

Description de l'inventionDescription of the invention

The invention therefore aims to provide a method of manufacturing a bag provided with handles with or without reinforcing sheets allowing high speeds and a machine implementing such a method.

  • on dépose la poignée sur la paroi ;
With these objectives in view, the invention relates to a method of manufacturing a bag according to which:
  • a wall of the bag is passed along a rotatably mounted handle setting drum;
  • a handle is hung on the drum, the legs of the handle extending along a perimeter of the drum towards the rear in the direction of rotation of the drum, the legs being connected by a cross member;
  • the handle is placed on the wall;
characterized in that before placing the handle on the wall, the latter is completely turned over using a turning drum so that the legs are at the front on the laying drum.

By turning the handle over before it is placed on the wall, the handle placed on the wall has its legs forward and crosses it backwards as shown in figure 7a . Typically, the legs are glued to the wall and the crossbars are located beyond the edge of the bag. The installation can be done before the separation of the bags, on the inside or outside of the bag. In this case, the wall is first cut transversely so that the handles are placed over these notches, the final cutting of the bag being carried out in the extension of the notches. In this case, two handling stations are used, arranged side by side or offset longitudinally. The laying can also be done after the separation of the hose into sections, before or after the formation of the bottom on the sections, and in this case typically outside them. As the installation of the handles is carried out in a continuous process, without abrupt acceleration of the latter, it is possible to carry out the installation of the handles at a high rate, at more than 250 pieces per minute.

According to a constructive arrangement, to perform the turning, the cross member of the handle is gripped by the turning drum tangent to the periphery of the laying drum, and through a blade carried by the turning drum, the end of the legs is introduced. in a clamp of the laying drum and the cross member is released by bringing the handle against the periphery of the laying drum. The turning is done in the continuity of the rotation of the laying drum and that of the turning drum. No sudden acceleration is imparted to the handle in this operation, which makes it possible to obtain a high rate. The cross member is moved away from the periphery of the laying drum by the turning drum. By grasping the ends of the legs, the laying drum drives them past the cross member which is retained by the turning drum, so that the legs pass forward.

According to an improvement, at least one reinforcing sheet is deposited while at least partially covering at least one leg before the handle is turned over. After turning over, the backing sheet will be on the side of the laying drum, then cover the leg (s) being glued to the wall. This technique is applicable for the installation of handles both inside and outside of bags. The connection of the handle with the wall is thus reinforced.

According to another improvement, the speed of rotation of the laying drum is controlled during a rotation of one revolution to place the handle on the speed of the wall and at the interval between two successive bags. This allows the process to be used to make bags of variable length, not conditioned by the perimeter of the drum. In the period between two successive poses, the speed of the drum is free and can be slowed down to allow a greater length of the wall to pass to make long bags, or on the contrary accelerated to make short bags. The speed is adjusted again during the laying period to match the speed of the wall.

The subject of the invention is also a machine for manufacturing bags with handles comprising transport means for passing a wall of the bag along a handle-laying drum mounted to rotate, hooking means for hanging a handle on it. the drum, the legs of the handle extending along a perimeter of the drum towards the rear in the direction of rotation of the drum, the legs being connected by a cross member, the hooking means being configured to place the handle on the wall , characterized in that it comprises a turning drum for turning the handle before the handle is placed on the wall and for the legs to be at the front on the laying drum.

According to a constructive arrangement, to perform the turning, the turning drum is rotating and tangent to the periphery of the laying drum and includes a cross member clamp for gripping the handle by the cross member as it passes between the laying drum and the drum. reversal and a blade adapted to introduce the end of the legs into a leg clamp of the laying drum, the cross member being configured to release the cross member after the legs are pinched by the leg clamp, the machine further comprising guide means for returning the handle against the periphery of the laying drum after the turning drum and before laying the handle.

According to an improvement, the machine comprises a station for depositing the reinforcing sheet upstream of the turning drum for deposit at least one reinforcing sheet while at least partially covering at least one leg.

According to another improvement, the machine comprises control means for controlling the speed of rotation of the laying drum during a rotation of one turn and placing the handle at the speed of the wall and at the interval between two successive bags. .

Selon différents modes de réalisation :

  • la machine comporte une station de formation d'un boyau placée en aval du tambour de pose ;
  • la machine comporte une station de formation d'un boyau placée en amont du tambour de pose et une station de formation de fond en aval du tambour de pose ;
According to different embodiments:
  • the machine comprises a station for forming a hose placed downstream of the laying drum;
  • the machine comprises a station for forming a hose placed upstream of the laying drum and a bottom forming station downstream of the laying drum;
  • the machine comprises a station for forming a hose placed upstream of a bottom forming station, which is upstream of the laying drum.

According to a variant, the turning station is completed or replaced by a folding station for folding and folding the legs in two parts one on the other along a folding line, the cross-side part being called the shoulder strap while that the remaining part is called the base. Thus, the gluing of the handle to the wall is done by the bases, the cross member being as close as possible to the bottom. When using the folding station, the turning station is either dismantled or not used. The turning station can also be transformed into a folding station, as will be seen better below. By this arrangement, the machine can be used for the manufacture of various models, with straight handles which protrude from the edge of the bag or with folded handles which do not protrude.

For the folding, according to a constructive arrangement, a guide bar moving faster than the periphery of the drum is used to drive, fold and fold the bases on the shoulder straps.

In development, a reinforcing sheet laying station is also used by at least partially covering the base with at least one leg before the base is folded by gluing the reinforcing sheet on the base and the wall.

Selon d'autres dispositions :

According to other provisions:
  • the backing sheet is laid in a position such that the backing sheet is folded with the bases during the folding operation. A flap is thus formed without adding specific means for folding it, taking advantage of the operation of folding the legs. Such a flap reinforces the resistance to tearing of the backing sheet, in a particularly stressed area.
  • the bases are glued before their folding against the backing sheet.

DESCRIPTION DETAILLEEDETAILED DESCRIPTION

A bag making machine according to a first embodiment of the invention, as shown in FIG. figure 1 , comprises in a manner known per se a station 9 for forming a hose 1 from a strip of a flexible material 1a such as raw or pre-printed paper, an aluminum or plastic film or the like or a mixture of these materials. The strip of material 1a is unwound from a reel onto a reel, not shown. It can be printed beforehand or at the exit of the dispenser. The hose 1 is generally formed with bellows, but this characteristic does not affect the invention which could be used on bags without gussets. The machine then comprises successively, in the direction of transport of the hose 1, two gluing stations 2, two handling stations 3 according to the invention and facing each other, a cutting station 6 , a bottom forming station 7 then a stacking station 8. The document WO 2013/190208 A1 shows an example of a bottom forming station 7. The handle laying stations 3 comprise laying drums 30 placed opposite one another to deposit handles on one and the other of the walls of the hose 1, so that the handles will be on the outside of the bag.

In a second embodiment, provided that the bag has handles inside and shown on the figure 2 , the handles 4 are placed on the strip of material 1a before forming the hose 1. For this, the machine has two stations for placing handles 3, arranged in an offset manner both in the direction of the strip of material 1a and transversely to this direction.

In a third embodiment, provided that the bag has handles on the outside and shown on the figure 2a , the handles 4 are placed on the bags already formed, at the exit of the folding station 7. For this, the two handling stations 3 are placed downstream of the folding station 7, one facing the other.

In a variant not shown, the handles are placed after cutting the hose into sections but before forming the bottom.

The figure 8a shows two offset gluing stations each with an individual presser 3a.

In these three embodiments, the handle setting stations 3 are arranged in a similar manner which will now be described with reference to figures 3 to 6 . Each handle 4 comprises a cross member 40 connecting two legs 41 substantially at right angles, as can be seen for example on the figure 9 . Each laying drum 30 is rotated so that its peripheral speed is the same than the running speed of the hose 1 which passes in front of it when the handles are removed. The handling station 3 comprises hooking means for hooking the handle 4 on the drum such that the legs 41 of the handle 4 extend along a perimeter of the drum 30 towards the rear in the direction of rotation. of the drum. With reference to the figure 3 , it further comprises a distribution roller 31 for depositing on the drum 30 strips which will form the handles 4 by folding the legs 41, in a manner which is not detailed here, optionally a device 33 for depositing sheets of reinforcement 5, and a turning drum 37 for turning the handle before the handle 4 is placed on the wall and so that the legs 41 are at the front on the laying drum. The turning drum 37, mounted counter-rotating with respect to the laying drum, is tangent to the periphery of the laying drum 30 and comprises a cross member clamp 370 for gripping the handle by the cross member 40 during its passage between the laying drum 30 and the turning drum 37 and a blade 371 adapted to insert the end of the legs 41 into a leg clamp 302 of the laying drum 30. The cross member clamp 370 is configured to release the cross member 40 after the legs 41 have been pinched by the leg clamp 302. The laying station 3 further comprises guide means 38 for returning the handle against the periphery of the laying drum 30 after the turning drum 37 and before placing the handle 4 on the wall 1.

The gluing station 2 deposits glue on the wall 1 in the areas intended to receive the legs 41 of the handles 4 and the possible reinforcing sheet 5.

During operation, a strap is deposited by the distribution roller 31 on the laying drum 30 and held thereon by the hooking means which clamp the cross member 40, during the formation of the handle 4. The parts of the strap on either side of the cross member 40 are folded in a 45 ° fold so as to form the legs 41 at 90 ° relative to the cross member 40. In the case where the removal device 33 is planned and operational, glue is deposited on the legs 41 by the device 32 and a reinforcing sheet 5 is deposited on the legs 41 of the handle 4. When the cross member 40 reaches the level of the turning drum 37, the latter is gripped by the traverse clamp 370 thereof, as shown in figure 4 , and released by the hooking means. The turning drum 37, in rotation, drives with it the crossmember 40, as shown in figure 5 . The blade 371 then arrives at the level of the end of the legs 41 and pushes the latter between the jaws of the leg clamp 302. The jaws grip the end of the legs 41, while the blade 371 is released. The cross member 40 is then released by the cross member clamp 370 of the turning drum 37. The guide means 38 obstruct the cross member 40 and force it to come behind the leg clamp 302 which retains the legs 41, as show it figures 6 and 7 . The possible backing sheet 5 is thus placed between the periphery of the laying drum 30 and the legs 41. Subsequently, the handle 4 is completely turned over, as shown in the figure. figure 7 , then is deposited on the wall 1 which has locally received glue.

The figure 8 exclusively shows the gluing station 2 and the handling station 3, according to a fourth embodiment using a machine according to the invention. This embodiment differs from the previous three in that the laying station does not include a turning drum 37, but a glue application device 32 followed by a folding device. In practice, the turning drum 37 can be used by neutralizing the gripper 370, and by operating the blade 371 with an offset with another gripper 301. Thus, the same machine can be used to implement the method described above or the one which will be described below.

In this embodiment, the legs 41 are divided into two parts along a fold line 410, the cross-side part 40 being called the sling 411 while the remaining part is called the base 412.

The figures 9 to 12 show the drum 30 schematically. The laying drum 30 comprises clamps 301 making it possible to each grip a leg 41 of the handle 4 along the future fold lines 410 between the base 412 and the strap 411. At the level of the glue application device 32, the glue is deposited on the bases 412. The station 3 further comprises a folding blade 34 mounted to rotate and a folding bar 35 mounted to pivot about an axis slightly eccentric with respect to the axis of the drum 30. The function of the blade Folding 34 can be achieved by the folding blade 371 of the turning roller 37. The folding bar 35 is movably mounted between a retracted position as shown in the figures. figures 8 and 10 and a folding position shown in the figure 12 and in mixed lines on the figure 8 . The folding blade 34 is configured to form the fold, which also results in raising the bases 412 after their passage to the right of the folding bar 35 in the retracted position, so that the bases 412 are driven by the bar. folding 35 in its path to the folding position. The path of the fold bar 35 between these two positions is such that the fold bar 35 approaches the surface of the drum 30 as it moves from the retracted position to the fold position. The turning drum 37 can fulfill the role of the device 34 by using the folding blade 371 and overriding the cross clamp 370. The folding bar 35 can also be removable, which allows the same machine to be converted into a machine according to the specification. one of the first three machine embodiments according to the fourth embodiment. In this case, the clamp 302 is for example removable and is replaced by the clamp 301 to adapt its position and its functionality.

According to a first variant of the fourth embodiment, the machine further comprises a device 33 for placing reinforcing sheets 5 in order to deposit a reinforcing sheet 5 on each handle 4, while covering the straps 411, as shown in FIG. figure 9 , between the roll of distribution 31 of the handles 4 and the travel zone of the folding bar 35.

During operation, the hose 1 passes between the two drums 30 for placing the handles 4 and runs in the direction of the arrow F1, the drums 30 being in rotation synchronously with the hose 1. Each distribution roller 31 deposits a strap for form a handle 4 on the drum 30 which then grasps the handle 4 by the legs 41 using the clamps 301. The cross member 40 is deposited at the front relative to the direction of rotation of the drum 30. When the drum 30 rotates, the adhesive application device 32 deposits the adhesive on the bases 412, the depositing device 33 deposits the backing sheet 5 on the straps 411 of the handle 4, as shown in figure figure 9 . After the end of the legs 41 has passed the folding bar 35, the folding blade 34 lifts the bases 412, while the folding bar 35 accelerates to catch up with the handle 4 by dragging the bases 412 with it, so as to fold them over the straps 411, trapping the reinforcement sheet 5, as shown on figure 11 . The folding bar 35 stops its movement when it arrives at the folding position, just before the air gap 36 between the two drums 30. In this position, the bases 412 are placed against the straps 411, as shown in the figure. figure 12 . The bases 412 and the reinforcing sheet 5 come into contact with the wall 1 on which the bonding is carried out by pressing, being opposite a glued zone 10 deposited on the hose beforehand by the gluing station 2. The clamps 301 release the legs 41 so that the handle 4 is transferred to the hose 1. A zone glued to the wall comes into contact with the cross member 40 to thus hold it against the wall, which forms holding means 42.

In a second variant of the fourth embodiment, shown in the figures 15 to 18 , the reinforcing sheet 5 'is deposited in a position such that it covers the legs 41 on either side of the fold line 410, and therefore both on the bases 412 and on the straps 411, so so that it is folded with the bases 412 during the operation folding. The rest of the process is identical to the fourth embodiment.

The bag obtained makes it possible to have a reinforcing sheet 5 'glued to the wall of the bag over the height of the bases 412 and a flap 50 which extends beyond the fold line 410, as shown on the figure. figure 18 .

In a variant of the first embodiment, not shown, the folding of the legs 41 is carried out on the distribution roller 31 and not on the drum 30. This arrangement allows the handle 4 to have the opposite face once deposited on the wall 1. , in comparison to the mode shown in figure 3 . This variant is also applicable to all the other embodiments.

The invention is not limited to the embodiments which have just been described by way of example. The backing sheet 5 can be separated to apply in two pieces, one for each base. It can also extend over the entire length of the bases, or even beyond or on the contrary below the ends opposite to the fold line. One could lay the handles side by side on the band before forming the hose so that the handles are then found inside the bag.

The machine can be adapted to receive either the turning drum or the folding station. The same machine can thus be easily modified to modify the type of bags produced. However, the machine may also include, on the periphery of the laying drum, both the turning drum and the folding device, in a manner offset along the periphery. It goes without saying that in this configuration, these two devices are not in service simultaneously.

An inversion station can be inserted between the handle placement station and the hose forming station. The inversion station allows the top and bottom of the band 1a to be reversed. Thus, the handles placed are found inside or outside the bag.

La poignée pourrait être transportée par des moyens de transport entre le tambour de pose 30 et la paroi 1.The handle could be transported by means of transport between the laying drum 30 and the wall 1.
