Claims (9)

  1. Device for positioning an article in flexible sheet form, including at least one gripper for gripping the sheet and engaging it straddling one or more horizontal parallel rollers, means for causing the gripper to open when the sheet is completely engaged on the roller or rollers in order to deposit it thereon, sensors for detecting the presence of one of the edges of the sheet aligned horizontally at the desired height for positioning this edge of the sheet, and in which a motor is associated with each roller, designed to rotate it according to the signal transmitted by the presence detectors sensitive to the position of the edge of the sheet situated in the vicinity; characterised in that it comprises one or more rollers (3) at least partially covered with non-slip material, at least one gripper (9) able to grip the end (6a) of the sheet (6) situated at the opposite side to the one where the presence detectors (19) are located, and a pusher (15) in the form of a horizontal blade, able to move in a horizontal plane and on the ends of which means (16a, 16b) for manoeuvring it act independently of each other, the presence detectors (19) being positioned sufficiently close to the roller or rollers (3) for several of them necessarily to be activated by the sheet (6) after it is deposited and also being arranged in order, firstly, to control the rotation of the roller or rollers (3) until one of them is deactivated, which has the effect of stopping the rotation of the roller or rollers (3), in order, secondly, to control the closure of the gripper or grippers and in order, thirdly, to actuate one of the means (16a, 16b) of manoeuvring the pusher (15) which moves it horizontally in the direction of the sheet (6) from its position of rest, in which one of its edges (15a) is close to the sheet (6), to an active position in which this same edge (15a) rests on the sheet (6) as an intermediate level between the gripper or grippers (9) and the roller (3) which is the closest to it, the movement taking place following a rotation movement about a vertical axis passing through one of the ends of the pusher (15) so as to bear on the sheet (6) in order to cause it to slide over the roller or rollers (6) until its free edge has deactivated all the other presence detectors (19) after having reached its desired correct horizontal position, which has the effect of actuating the means (16a, 16b) of manoeuvring the pusher (15) which previously has been activated in order to return the pusher (15) to its position of rest, and to control the opening of the gripper or grippers (9) so that the slackening of the sheet (6) is absorbed by the end (6a) situated on the opposite side to the detectors (19) so that the two ends (6a, 6b) of the sheet (6) hang on each side of the roller or rollers (3), suitable means (9, 15, 20, 22, 23) being provided for transferring the sheet (6) thus positioned to a processing unit (11).
  2. Device according to Claim 1, characterised in that it comprises two parallel rollers (3) under which the pusher (15) is situated, the manoeuvring members of which consist of rams (16a, 16b), and a gripper (9) comprising a moving jaw (12) situated on the same side of the sheet (6) as the pusher (15), and a fixed jaw (10a) situated on the other side of the sheet (6).
  3. Device according to Claim 2, characterised in that the fixed jaw of the gripper (9) consists of a part (10a) of the frame (10) of the processing unit (11) in front of which hangs the end (6a) of the sheet (6) whose position is to be corrected, and the moving jaw of which consists of a horizontal bar (12) carried by the top ends of at least two substantially vertical lateral arms (13) articulated, through their bottom end, on coaxial horizontal journals (14) enabling them to pivot between a position of rest in which the aforesaid bar (12) is maintained at a distance from the part (10a) of the frame (10) of the processing unit (11) serving as a fixed jaw, an an active position in which this bar (12) is applied against this part (10a) of the frame (10) so as to grip the corresponding end (6a) of the sheet (6), driving means being provided to actuate the arms (13) in one direction or the other.
  4. Device according to one of Claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the means provided for transferring the sheet (6) to the processing unit (11) consist of a presence detector (20) situated between the other presence detectors (19) and the roller (3) which is the closest thereto, which controls the rotation of the rollers (3) until it ceases to be activated by the sheet (6), at least one gripper (9) suitable for immobilising the end (6a) of the sheet (6) situated on the opposite side to the one where the presence detectors (19) are located, and a pusher (15) in the form of a horizontal blade situated under the roller or rollers (3), which is able to move in translation in a horizontal plane and the travel of which is such that it causes the sheet (6) to slide over the roller or rollers (3) until its free end, previously placed horizontally, is engaged in the processing unit (11).
  5. Device according to one of Claims 1 to 4, characterised in that it comprises one or more grippers (9) suitable for gripping the end (6a) of the sheet (6) situated on the opposite side to the one where the presence detectors (19) are located, both during the operation of placing the edges of the ends (6a, 6b) of the sheet (6) horizontally, and during the operation of transferring the sheet (6) to the processing unit (11), and a pusher (15) in the form of a horizontal blade situated under the roller or rollers (3), which is able to move in a horizontal plane and which is able to exhibit two different movements, one of which enables the edges of the ends (6a, 6b) of the sheet (6) to be placed horizontally, and the other one of which enables the said sheet to be transferred to the processing unit (11).
  6. Device according to one of Claims 1 to 5, characterised in that several endless belts (21), the external surface of which is non-slip, are engaged around each of the rollers (3).
  7. Device according to one of Claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the sensors (19, 20) for detecting the presence of the edge of the end (6b) of the sheet (6) consist of photoelectric cells.
  8. Device according to one of Claims 1 to 7, characterised in that it comprises two grippers (4) for engaging the sheet (6) on the roller or rollers (3), carried by a motorised endless belt (5), which are situated opposite each other.
  9. Device according to one of Claims 1 to 8, characterised in that it comprises an inclined slope (7) facilitating the engagement of the sheet (6) on the rollers (3).
