  • the user data secondary memory can be volatile or nonvolatile, and shared with or separate from other physical or logical memory areas in the tachograph. Downloading from the user data primary memory to the user data secondary memory could automatically be performed while the user data primary memory is connected to the tachograph. This download is preferably completed before the user data primary memory is disconnected.
  • the tachograph only downloads user related data to the user data secondary memory which has not yet been downloaded to the external memory. Another possibility is that the tachograph only downloads data to the user data secondary memory which has not been downloaded to that memory already.
  • the tachograph can use information on the user data primary memory which denotes what data has been downloaded to separate download equipment to prevent the same data from being downloaded multiple times and thus provide better efficiency.
  • the tachograph could also mark data on the driver data primary memory as downloaded in order to similarly provide better efficiency.
  • Another function could be that the user can chose if the user data primary memory should be downloaded to the user data secondary memory. When a card is inserted into the tachograph there could be a question or a possibility to deactivate this possibility. Another possibility is that downloading from the user data primary memory to the user data secondary memory starts when the memory space of the user data primary memory is below a certain level.
  • Another useful function could be a warning system. There could be a warning when memory space in the driver data primary memory is below a certain level. The user could then choose if he wants to download data from the user data primary memory to the user data secondary memory.
  • One advantage of the invention is that user related data can be downloaded to the external memory EM1 without having the driver data primary memory UDPM1 present. This is possible because the user related data could be stored on the user data secondary memory UDSM1 and be downloaded from this memory instead. Another advantage is that it is possible to free memory space at the user data primary memory by downloading data to the user data secondary memory.
  • Another advantage is that user related data from the user data secondary memory can be downloaded with or without the actual user data primary memory being connected, through the same means as regular downloads from the tachograph. Normal data privacy protection rules and regulations, e.g. company locks, can apply during download.
  • Fig 2 illustrates an embodiment of a user data secondary memory UDSM2 that can be used with a tachograph according the invention. It comprises a memory MEM1 comprising different memory fields MF11, MF12, MF13 to be associated to different identified driver data primary memories.

Claims (13)

  1. Fahrtschreiber, der geeignet ist, um in einem Fahrzeug installiert zu werden, der Folgendes aufweist:
    - eine Benutzeridentifikationsschnittstelle (UMFI1) die zur verschlüsselten gesicherten Datenkommunikation mit einem Benutzerdatenhauptspeicher (UDPM1) geeignet ist,
    - Mittel zum Identifizieren eines Benutzerdatenhauptspeichers, der mit der Benutzeridentifikationsschnittstelle verbunden ist,
    - einen Fahrtschreiberspeicher (TM1), der zum Speichern benutzerbezogener Daten geeignet ist,
    dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Fahrtschreiber Folgendes aufweist:
    - einen Benutzerdatenhilfsspeicher (UDSM1) zum vorübergehenden Speichern benutzerbezogener Daten,
    - Hilfsspeichersteuermittel (SMCM) zum Herunterladen benutzerbezogener Daten zwischen dem Benutzerdatenhauptspeicher und/oder dem Fahrtschreiberspeicher zu dem Benutzerdatenhilfsspeicher, wobei der Benutzerdatenhilfsspeicher mindestens zwei Speicherfelder (MF11, MF12) aufweist und mindestens eines davon mit einem spezifischen Benutzerdatenhauptspeicher verbunden ist.
  2. Fahrtschreiber nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, der Mittel aufweist, um Benutzerdaten von dem Benutzerdatenhilfsspeicher zu einem externen Speicher EM1 herunterzuladen.
  3. Fahrtschreiber nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, der eine grafische Benutzeroberfläche (DISPL) und Mittel zum Anzeigen mindestens eines Teils des Inhalts des Benutzerdatenhilfsspeichers auf der grafischen Benutzeroberfläche aufweist.
  4. Fahrtschreiber nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, der konfiguriert ist, um Benutzerdaten von dem Benutzerdatenhauptspeicher und/oder dem Fahrtschreiberspeicher zu dem Benutzerdatenhilfsspeicher in Abhängigkeit von der Eingabe von einer Benutzeroberfläche herunterzuladen.
  5. Fahrtschreiber nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, der konfiguriert ist, um Benutzerdaten von dem Benutzerdatenhauptspeicher und/oder dem Fahrtschreiberspeicher zu dem Benutzerdatenhilfsspeicher in regelmäßigen Zeitintervallen herunterzuladen.
  6. Fahrtschreiber nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, der Mittel zum Markieren und/oder Erfassen, welche benutzerbezogenen Daten zu einem Benutzerdatenhilfsspeicher und/oder einem externen Speicher heruntergeladen wurden, aufweist.
  7. Fahrtschreiber nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, wobei der Fahrtschreiber automatisch ein benutzerspezifisches Speicherfeld (MF11) anlegt, wenn ein Benutzerdatenhauptspeicher zum ersten Mal angeschlossen wird, und das benutzerspezifische Speicherfeld mit dem angeschlossenen Benutzerdatenhauptspeicher zu verbinden, um das benutzerspezifische Speicherfeld für zukünftige Kommunikation von Benutzerdaten in Zusammenhang mit dem angeschlossenen Benutzerdatenhauptspeicher zu verwenden.
  8. Fahrtschreiber nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, der eine Verschlüsselungseinheit und/oder eine Entschlüsselungseinheit aufweist, die zum Verschlüsseln und Entschlüsseln von Datenkommunikation geeignet ist.
  9. Fahrtschreiber nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, der eine Benutzeroberfläche (CONTR, DISPL) oder eine Schnittstelle für Datenkommunikation mit einer Benutzeroberfläche aufweist, wobei die Benutzeroberfläche eine Anzeige und/oder Steuerelemente zum Anzeigen und/oder Handhaben benutzerbezogener Daten aufweist.
  10. Fahrtschreiber nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, der einen Drucker oder eine Schnittstelle für Datenkommunikation mit einem Drucker zum Ausdrucken benutzerbezogener Daten aufweist.
  11. Fahrtschreiber nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, bei dem der Benutzerdatenhilfsspeicher von dem Fahrtschreiber abgenommen werden kann.
  12. Fahrtschreiber nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, bei dem Hilfsspeichersteuermittel (SMCM) von einem Benutzer des Fahrtschreibers konfiguriert werden können, um einen bestimmten Benutzerdatenhauptspeicher von der Kommunikation mit dem Benutzerdatenhilfsspeicher auszuschließen.
  13. Verfahren in einem Fahrtschreiber nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, das die folgenden Schritte aufweist:
    - Verbinden eines Benutzerdatenhauptspeichers mit einem Fahrtschreiber,
    - Identifizieren des Benutzerdatenhauptspeichers,
    - Verbinden des Benutzerdatenhauptspeichers mit einem Speicherfeld in einem Benutzerdatenhilfsspeicher,
    - wenn Benutzerdaten auf dem Benutzerdatenhauptspeicher nicht bereits auf dem Benutzerdatenhilfsspeicher sind, Herunterladen der Daten zu dem Speicher.
