Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a method for mounting a gully in a floor configured for a floor covering, e.g. a clinker covering.
  • the invention also relates to a device for providing, at a method for mounting a gully in a floor configured for a floor covering, e.g. a clinker covering, a recess in the floor for an inlet member of the gully.
  • inlet members for gullies which are configured for mounting in floors which shall be provided with particularly a clinker covering
  • the inlet member of the gully has a height which exceeds the height of the clinker covering.
  • inlet members comprising a chute or frame with an insert member having a clinker covering, get room for the insert member in the frame and yet achieve optimum flow down into the frame for the insert member and through said frame down into an outlet member of the gully by locating the insert member in the frame at a distance from the sides and bottom of said frame.
  • an object of the present invention is to provide a method and a device which eliminate the above-mentioned problem.
  • This object is arrived at according to the invention by presenting a method comprising the measures defined in claim 1 and by presenting a device comprising the features defined in claim 9.
  • the sealing layer By, according to the invention, manufacture and locate the sealing layer as defined instead of connecting it to the inlet member of the gully in a known manner, optimum sealing all the way down into the outlet member of the gully is achieved while at the same time and for the same reason one need not have to build-up the floor around the inlet member of the gully. Also, the junction between the sealing layer and the gully can be kept short.
  • the device according to the invention as a spacer piece, a recess for the inlet member of the gully is obtained in a quick and easy way.
  • a gully in a floor 1 which is configured for a floor covering, e.g. a clinker covering 2, one has to this end chosen, after mounting, e.g. after having screwed an outlet member 3 of the gully onto the floor in e.g. an opening or cut therefor in the floor, or in a more open floor framing, for connection of the outlet member to a drainage system (not illustrated), to provide a recess 4 for an inlet member 5 of the gully in the floor in connection to the outlet member of the gully, preferably such that said outlet member is found at the bottom 4a of the recess.
  • the floor 1 may be of e.g.
  • a sealing layer 6 is placed on top of the floor 1 and the recess therein and the sealing layer is connected to the outlet member 3 of the gully and thereafter, the inlet member 5 of the gully is placed on top of the sealing layer in the recess in the floor with flow connection to the outlet member of the gully, and a floor covering, e.g. a clinker covering, is provided on the floor and around the inlet member of the gully in close connection thereto.
  • a floor covering e.g. a clinker covering
  • the outlet member 3 of the gully located in e.g. the opening or cut for the outlet member in the floor 1 or standing free in a more open floor framing, can be formed in any suitable way and comprise suitable members for the intended purpose.
  • the outlet member 3 comprises an outlet cup 3a with a mounting flange 3b with screw holes 3c for mounting, e.g. screwing on, the outlet cup to the floor 1 and to which the sealing layer 6 is preferably connected, possibly a clamping ring 3d which is provided in a seat 3e therefor in the mounting flange, and an outlet pipe 3f for connection of the outlet cup to the drainage system in the building in question.
  • the clamping ring 3d can be used for clamping e.g. a gully sleeve for sealing around the gully.
  • the outlet member 3 may also comprise e.g. a gully trap (not shown) of a suitable type provided in the outlet cup 3a.
  • the inlet member 5 of the gully may be designed in any suitable way and comprise suitable members for the intended purpose.
  • the inlet member 5 comprises an inlet chute or chute-like frame and an insert member 5b which is placed in the chute or the frame.
  • the insert member 5b may be a screen or a cover which e.g. is provided with the same covering as the floor, e.g. with clinkers.
  • the inlet member 5 may be round, triangular or have any other shape.
  • the inlet member 5 is mounted as mentioned above such that an outlet (not illustrated) therefrom, e.g. an opening in the bottom of the chute, is in flow connection with the outlet member 3, e.g. with the outlet cup 3a with a possible gully trap.
  • the recess 4 for the inlet member 5 of the gully is formed with a height substantially corresponding to the height of the inlet member of the gully minus the height of the floor covering, in the illustrated embodiment the clinker covering 2.
  • the recess 4 for the inlet member 5 of the gully is formed in at least an upper part 1a of the floor 1, said upper part being provided on top of a lower part 1 b of the floor with the outlet member 3 of the gully, i.e. that the recess in said upper part of the floor can be formed in connection with the provision of said upper part on top of the lower part of the floor or after said upper part already has been provided and thus, is already located on the lower part of the floor.
  • Said upper part 1 a of the floor can be provided by means of e.g. a floor mass in the form of floating putty, concrete or another cast compound. Said upper part 1 a of the floor 1 can be brought about by means of e.g. particle board or by means of other conventional floor materials or combinations thereof.
  • the lower part 1 b of the floor 1 may as mentioned above be formed by e.g. wood or concrete, particle board on wooden crossbars or any other suitable material or combination of materials for floors.
  • the recess 4 for the inlet member 5 of the gully is provided in a suitable manner according to the invention by, before said upper part 1a of the floor is provided on top of the lower part 1 b of the floor, placing a spacer piece 7 on said lower part in connection to the outlet member 3 of the gully and then providing said upper part of the floor on top of the lower part of the floor to substantially in level with an upper side 7a of the spacer piece and finally, after said upper part of the floor has been located on top of said lower part of the floor, removing the spacer piece such that said recess in the upper part of the floor for the inlet member of the gully is exposed.
  • the recess 4 for the inlet member 5 of the gully is obtained by means of an upper part 1a of the floor 1 in the form of a floor mass by, before the application of the floor mass, locating a spacer piece 7 on the lower part 1 b of the floor in connection to the outlet member 3 of the gully (see fig. 2 and 3 ), whereupon the floor mass is applied on the lower part 1 b of the floor to substantially in level with an upper side 7a of the spacer piece (see fig. 4 ) and finally, after the application of floor mass, the spacer piece is removed such that said recess in the floor mass for the inlet member of the gully is exposed (see fig. 5 ).
  • the spacer piece 7 can be kept in position on the floor 1 or at least on said lower part 1 b of the floor by means of e.g. weights (not illustrated). This in order to ensure that the spacer piece 7 is not displaced when e.g. the floor mass is applied on said lower part 1 b of the floor 1.
  • the spacer piece 7 can be kept in position also in another suitable way than by means of weights, may e.g. be screwed on (through screw holes 7b).
  • a gully sleeve (not illustrated) may for sealing purposes be located in and in connection with the recess 4 e.g. after hardening of the floor mass and removal of the spacer piece 7.
  • the recess 4 is, according to a suitable embodiment of the invention, provided with lateral surfaces 4b which converge towards the bottom 4a of the recess. Furthermore, the transition between the bottom 4a and the lateral surfaces 4b of the recess 4 is formed without sharp edges and the transition between the lateral surfaces of the recess and the upper side of the floor, i.e. in the illustrated embodiment the upper side 1 c of the upper part 1 a of the floor, is also formed without sharp edges (see preferably fig. 5 ).
  • the sealing layer 6 may consist of a floating membrane alternatively of a thin foil with adequate vapour and water stopping properties.
  • the inlet member 5 After application of the sealing layer 6 (see fig. 6 ), the inlet member 5 is located in its position in the recess 4 in flow connection with the outlet member 3.
  • the inlet member 5 is fixed and a clinker covering 2 is provided as mentioned on the floor 1 and around the inlet member of the gully in close connection thereto (see fig. 7-10 ).
  • the upper side 2a of the clinker covering 2 With a correctly adapted depth of the recess 4 and height of the inlet member 5, the upper side 2a of the clinker covering 2 will thereby be located substantially in level with or somewhat above the upper edge 5c or upper side of the inlet member (see preferably fig. 9 and 10 ).
  • the above-mentioned spacer piece 7 for providing a recess 4 for an inlet member 5 of the gully in at least an upper part 1 a of the floor 1 may, as mentioned above, be provided on a lower part 1 b of the floor in connection to the outlet member 3 of the gully.
  • an upper part 1 a of the floor is provided around said spacer piece such that said recess 4 is defined, and then, after the provision of said upper part of the floor, the spacer piece is removed for exposure of the recess.
  • the spacer piece 7 which may be made of e.g. plastic, wood or metal or suitable combinations thereof, has a height which substantially corresponds with the height of the inlet member 5 of the gully minus the height of the clinker covering 2.
  • the spacer piece 7 may have a height of about 10-15 mm.
  • the recess 4 defined by means of the spacer piece 7 is given a depth of about 10-15 mm, while the inlet member 5 of the gully, e.g. the frame or chute 5a for the insert member 5b, has a height of about 20 mm, such that the clinker covering 2 according to the above will be located substantially in level with or somewhat above the frame and the insert member therein.
  • the spacer piece is formed with one or more lateral surfaces 7d which converge from the upper side 7a of the spacer piece to a lower side 7c of the spacer piece.
  • the lateral surfaces 7d are converging in cross-section as well as in longitudinal section through the spacer piece.
  • the spacer piece 7 preferably has a smooth transition without sharp edges between the upper side 7a of the spacer piece and the lateral surfaces 7d thereof and a smooth transition without sharp edges between said lateral surfaces 7d and the lower side 7c of the spacer piece. Said transitions may e.g. be chamfered or rounded in a suitable way.
  • said spacer piece may have a central through recess (not shown) for location therein of the inlet member of the gully.
  • the advantage therewith is that the inlet member 5 of the gully can be used as a type of indicator of that the spacer piece is located in correct position since said inlet member located in the spacer piece is in correct position relative to the outlet member 3 of the gully, i.e. such that an appropriate flow connection can be established between the inlet and outlet members.
  • the recess in the spacer piece 7 has to this end substantially the same shape as the inlet member 5 of the gully, i.e. the recess may be round, have three or four sides or have even more sides corresponding to the number of sides of the inlet member and substantially the same size.
  • the spacer piece 7 may also be formed without said recess in order to protect the outlet member 3 of the gully during application of the floor mass.
  • a spacer piece 7 according to the invention may have any suitable shape for defining a recess 4 allowing provision in said recess of the inlet member 5 of the gully in question. Accordingly, the spacer piece 7 may have another shape than the elongated shape for a chute-like inlet member 5 illustrated in the drawings.
