Abstract

Dargestellt und beschrieben ist ein Überspannungsschutzelement mit einem Gehäuse (2), mit mindestens einem in dem Gehäuse (2) angeordneten überspannungsbegrenzenden Bauelement (3), insbesondere einem Varistor, mit zwei Anschlusskontakten (4, 5) zum elektrischen Anschluss des Überspannungsschutzelements (1) an den zu schützenden Strom- oder Signalpfad, mit einem elektrisch leitfähigen Verbindungselement (6) und mit einem auf das Verbindungselement (6) einwirkenden Federsystem (7), wobei der erste Anschlusskontakt (4) direkt mit dem ersten Pol des überspannungsbegrenzenden Bauelements (3) in elektrisch leitendem Kontakt steht, wobei im Normalzustand des Überspannungsschutzelements (1) das Verbindungselement (6) sowohl mit dem zweiten Anschlusskontakt (5) als auch mit dem zweiten Pol des überspannungsbegrenzenden Bauelements (3) über eine thermisch auftrennende Verbindung in elektrisch leitendem Kontakt steht, die dann auftrennt, wenn die Temperatur des überspannungsbegrenzenden Bauelements (3) eine vorgegebene Grenztemperatur überschreitet, und wobei bei aufgetrennter thermischer Verbindung das Verbindungselement (6) durch die Kraft des Federsystems (7) derart aus der Kontaktstellung bewegt wird, dass das Verbindungselement (6) keinen elektrisch leitenden Kontakt mehr mit dem zweiten Anschlusskontakt (5) und dem zweiten Pol des überspannungsbegrenzenden Bauelements (3) hat,
Bei dem erfindungsgemäßen Überspannungsschutzelement (1) ist sowohl eine sichere und gute elektrische Verbindung im Normalzustand als auch eine sichere Abtrennung eines defekten überspannungsbegrenzenden Bauelements (3) dadurch gewährleistet, dass das elektrisch leitfähige Verbindungselement (6) derart mit einem isolierenden Trennelement (10) verbunden ist, dass bei aufgetrennter thermischer Verbindung das isolierende Trennelement (10) zwischen den zweiten Anschlusskontakt (5) und den zweiten Pol des überspannungsbegrenzenden Bauelements (3) bewegt wird.
