Claims (7)
- A transverse lining unit (30) for securing a lining on the spine of a book block being transported in the longitudinal direction, with a feed (20) for infeeding a transverse lining material (25) transverse to the moving direction of the book block, with a cutting unit (7) for severing a lining strip, with a lining transport (3) that features a flat belt (42) and can transport the severed lining strip to the spine in the moving direction of the book block, and with a lining application station (5) for pressing the lining strip on the spine, characterized in that a pivoting device (9) featuring a rotational axis (106) and an upper suction table (104) is provided for transferring the lining strip to the lining transport (3), and in that the lining transport (3) comprises a lower suction table (40), above which the flat belt (42) is arranged.
- The transverse lining unit (30) according to Claim 1, characterized in that the flat belt (42) is realized in the form of a perforated endless belt.
- The transverse lining unit (30) according to Claim 2, characterized by a lining supply chamber (60) of the lining transport (3) which features a non-perforated flat belt (44), between which and the first perforated flat belt (42) the lining strip is guided.

- A method for securing a lining on the spine of a book block being transported in the longitudinal direction, wherein a transverse lining material (25) is infed transverse to the moving direction of the book block and a lining strip is severed by means of a cutting unit (7), and wherein the lining strip is subsequently transported to the spine in the moving direction of the book block by means of a lining transport (3) featuring a flat belt and ultimately applied thereon, characterized in that the severed lining strip is transferred to the lining transport (3) by means of a pivoting motion of an upper suction table, wherein the lining transport (3) comprises a lower suction table (40), on which the transferred lining strip is fixed on the flat belt.
- The method according to Claim 5, wherein the spine is pre-glued before the application of the lining strip.
- The method according to Claim 5 or 6, wherein the lining strip to be transported is conveyed into a lining supply chamber (60) of the lining transport (3).
