- Another object is a method for controlling undesired plant growth and / or for controlling unwanted insect or mite infestation on plants and / or for controlling phytopathogenic fungi, by the fungi / insects, their habitat, or against attack by fungi or insects protective plants, or soils or the unwanted plants, the soil on which the unwanted plants grow, or their seeds treated with the aqueous dispersion.
- Microcapsules have been described for various industrial uses in various embodiments. Microcapsules based on gelatin, polyurethane resin, melamine-formaldehyde resin and polyacrylate are known. Specifically, polyacrylate-based microcapsules are known to those skilled in the art as a particularly stable embodiment. For example, polyacrylate-containing microcapsules serve the protection of core materials that are to be released only by targeted mechanical destruction of the capsule shell, for example, dyes for copying papers. Another commercial example is polyacrylate-containing microcapsules for protecting core materials that are to be encapsulated for several decades, such as microencapsulated latent heat storage materials for concrete or gypsum board.
- EP 0 457 154 relates to microcapsules obtainable by polymerization of acrylic monomers.
- Ingredients include, in addition to color formers for carbonless paper,
- Perfumes adhesives, agricultural chemicals, food, liquid crystals, catalysts, detergents and oils.
- WO 03/099005 relates to microcapsule formulations which, in addition to an aqueous suspension of a solid agrochemical active ingredient, also contain microcapsules which contain a shell of polyurea and / or polyurethane and, as capsule filling, at least one penetration promoter.
- Suitable penetration promoters include oils and alkanol alkoxylates.
- WO 04/017734 relates to aqueous dispersions of microencapsulated agrochemicals.
- the capsules comprise an agrochemical, a water-insoluble adjuvant with little or no surface-active action, and a water-insoluble solvent.
- the capsule contents are released during drying of the formulation.
- DE 102007055813 relates to microcapsules obtainable by polymerization of acrylic monomers. As capsule core lipophilic substances come into consideration.
- US 2003/0119675 A1 relates to an aqueous microcapsule suspension whose shell is a reaction product of an isocyanate with a di- or polyamine, and which are filled with an agrochemical active, a hydrocarbon and a surfactant.
- DE 100 58 878 A1 relates to an aqueous microcapsule suspension whose shell is a reaction product of an isocyanate with a di- or polyamine, and which are filled with an agrochemical active, a hydrocarbon and a surfactant.
- Polycapsules comprising polyurethanes are disadvantageous with respect to microcapsules with free-radically polymerized monomers, since the monomers used for polyurethanes are toxic isocyanates which have to be handled with a high degree of safety. Furthermore, isocyanates are highly reactive towards H-acidic groups, such as alcohols and amines, so that during the polyaddition only selected additives, surfactants or oils can be present. In addition, a higher temperature must be used to disperse some surfactants or oils, so that the reactivity of the isocyanates is still increased.
- An object of the present invention was to find a way to increase the stability of suspension concentrates which can be reduced by adjuvants. Another object was to provide aqueous dispersions of microcapsules for agrochemical use which can contain and re-release penetration promoting compounds such as oil or lipophilic surfactant. Furthermore, it was an object to provide suspension concentrates of crop protection agents comprising penetration-promoting compounds such as oil or lipophilic surfactant, in which the crystallization of the active ingredient crystals is reduced.
- An additional object was to provide pesticide suspension concentrates which exhibited increased biological efficacy compared to conventional suspension concentrates without added adjuvant. Another object was to provide aqueous dispersions of microcapsules for agrochemical use which can be prepared without isocyanates.
- an aqueous dispersion comprising microcapsules whose capsule wall is composed of free-radically polymerized monomers and whose capsule core comprises at least one oil, characterized in that the capsule core comprises at least one lipophilic surfactant and the continuous phase of the dispersion comprises at least one agrochemical, and wherein the radically polymerized monomers are acrylic acid and its esters, methacrylic acid and its esters, maleic acid and its esters, styrene, butadiene, isoprene, vinyl acetate or vinyl propionate.
- aqueous dispersion in the present application, a system of several phases, of which the continuous phase is aqueous and at least one further phase is finely divided.
- the continuous phase of the aqueous dispersion comprises according to the invention at least one agrochemical.
- the agrochemical may be present in solid, liquid, or solid and liquid form in the continuous phase at 25 ° C.
- the continuous phase of the dispersion at 25 ° C comprises at least one agrochemical in the form of suspended (i.e., solid) particles.
