- Fig. 1 is a sectional view of a two-part piston, the upper part and the lower part are screwed together by means of a nut with molded compression sleeve, and
- Fig. 2 is an assembly aid, whereby the yield strength of a piston attached to the lower part expansion sleeve is increased by a permanent elongation.
- a two-part, cooled piston 1 which consists of an upper part 2 and a lower part 3.
- the upper part 2 and the lower part 3 may be made of steel or of another metallic material.
- a piston head 4 bounds the axial top side of the upper part 2, the radially inner region of which has a combustion bowl 5.
- an annular wall 6 is integrally formed, the outer surface piston crown side forms a top land 7, which is followed by a shaft ring side 8 with annular grooves for receiving piston rings, not shown in the figure.
- pin bosses 9, 9 1 On the underside of the lower part 3 facing away from the piston bottom 4 are two pin bosses 9, 9 1 , each with a pin bore 10, 10 "whose end faces 11 are set back relative to the annular wall 6 in the direction of the piston axis 12.
- the pin bosses 9, 9 1 are over Piston shaft elements 13, 13 'connected together.
- the upper part 2 and the lower part 3 of the piston 1 are connected via an inner support 14 and via a concentrically arranged outer support 15 with each other.
- the inner support 14 is formed by a bearing surface 16 arranged on the side of the upper part 2 facing away from the combustion bowl 5 and by a bearing surface 18 arranged on a piston-bottom side on an annular support rib 17 of the lower part 3.
- the outer support 15 is formed by a bottom surface of the annular wall 6 delimiting support surface 19 and a piston bottom side on an annular support web 20 of the lower part 3 arranged support surface 21.
- cooling channel 22 From the upper part 2 and the lower part 3 of the piston 1 a arranged in the piston bottom edge portion of the piston 1 cooling channel 22 is formed, the radially outer boundary of the annular wall 6, the radially inner boundary part of the support rib 17 and partly from the piston head 4 and the axially lower Limitation of the lower part 3 of the piston 1 are formed. Cooling oil is introduced into the cooling channel 22 via inlet openings 23.
- the piston 1 has a further, coaxial with the piston axis 12 arranged, annular cooling channel 24, which has a smaller radial diameter than the outer cooling channel 22 and is disposed within the outer cooling channel 22 as seen in the radial direction.
- Axial above the inner cooling channel 24 is bounded by the piston head 4, radially outwardly from the support rib 17 and radially below by a thin-walled and elastically yielding, upper bottom part 25 of the lower part 3, to which radially inward an axially upwardly directed expansion sleeve 26 is integrally formed, whose axially upper, first opening 27 is provided with a so far radially inwardly directed curl 28 that the underside of the flange 28 can serve as a stop for an integrally formed on a nut 29 compression sleeve 30.
- the expansion sleeve 26 forms the radially inner boundary of the inner cooling channel 24.
- the expansion sleeve 26 has a second opening 43 on its side opposite the first
- a cylindrical bolt 31 is formed with a lateral surface on the underside of the piston head 4, which has a piston end remote end region with an external thread 32 which corresponds to the internal thread of the nut 29, so that the nut 29 can be screwed onto the external thread 32 ,
- the axial length of the bolt 31 corresponds approximately to the axial length of the sleeve 29 provided with the compression sleeve 30.
- the radial diameter of the bolt 31 and in particular its external thread 32 are smaller than the radial diameter of the first opening 27 of the expansion sleeve 26, so that the bolt 31 easily in the first opening 27 is inserted.
- the radial inner diameter of the compression sleeve 30 is greater than the radial outer diameter of the external thread 32 of the bolt 31st
- the radial diameter of the pin 31 is formed in a region between the outer thread 32 and the underside of the piston head 4 is smaller than the diameter of the external thread 32 and also less than the inner diameter of the compression sleeve 30, so that between the compression sleeve 30 and the pin 31 an annular cooling space 33 results.
- cooling oil is introduced into the outer cooling channel 22, which flows via a connecting channel 34 into the inner cooling channel 24, from where part of the oil flows through an opening 35 in the upper bottom part 25 of the lower part 3 back into the crankcase.
- a small portion of the oil flows through a gap 36 between the flange 28 and the lower surface of the piston head 4 and the first opening 27 of the expansion sleeve 26 in the cooling chamber 33, from where it is incorporated into the external thread 32 of the bolt 31 and parallel to the piston axis 12 lying drainage channels flows back into the crankcase, of which in Fig. 1, a drain passage 37 is shown. This causes a very good cooling of the thermally highly loaded upper part 2 of the piston. 1
- the bolt 31 arranged on the underside of the piston head 4 is first guided through the first opening 27 of the expansion sleeve 26, which is formed on the second opening 43 in the upper bottom part 25 of the piston lower part 3.
- the upper part 2 and the lower part 3 of the piston 1 are aligned coaxially with each other, which is achieved in that the support web 20 in section has the shape of a radially inwardly and axially directed in the direction of the piston head 4 stage , And that the lower end face of the annular wall 6 on the inside has a cylindrical recess 38, the inner shape of the outer shape of the support web 20 corresponds, so that during assembly of upper and lower part 2, 3 of the piston 1, the support web 20 inserted into the recess 38 is, and thus upper part 2 and lower part 3 are aligned coaxially.
- the compression sleeve 30 of the nut 29 is slid over the external thread 32 of the bolt 31 until the internal thread of the nut 29 comes into contact with the external thread 32 of the bolt 31.
- the mother 29 is now so far on the external thread 32 is screwed until the upper end face of the compression sleeve 30 comes into contact with the flange 28 of the expansion sleeve 26.
- a threaded bolt 41 may be used with an outer diameter of FIG. 2, which is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the first opening 27 in which the expansion sleeve 26 piston crown side limiting crimping 28, so that the threaded bolt 41 without problems through the first opening 27 and the second opening 43 can be passed.
- a tensile force is exerted on the threaded bolt 41 in the direction of the arrow 40, which exerts a controlled tensile stress on the expansion sleeve 26 via the nut 42 resting on the flanging 28 in order to increase the expansion sleeve 26 in the axial direction by approximately 1% of its length stretch.
- the piston 1 is in this case mounted in a mounting device, not shown in Fig. 2.
- the yield strength of the compression sleeve 30 material can be increased by subjecting the compression sleeve 30 to a calculated compressive force that compresses the compression sleeve 30 by approximately 1% of its length.
