Definitions
- the invention relates to a fuel supply system for a motor vehicle with an arranged in the fuel tank, electrically driven fuel delivery unit, with a guided to an internal combustion engine of the motor vehicle supply line and with a pressure sensor for detecting the pressure in the flow line and with a control device for supplying the fuel delivery unit with electric current as a function of the signals of the pressure sensor.
- Such fuel supply systems with demand-controlled fuel delivery units are commonly used in today's motor vehicles and are known from practice cf. eg DE 10 2006 001878 A1 . DE 10 2007 057 190 A1 . WO 2007/115102 A2 or US 2002/0043253 A1 ,
- the pressure in the supply line is generated by a corresponding control of the fuel delivery unit.
- a pressure regulator protects the fuel supply system from exceeding an intended pressure in the supply line. This is necessary if, for example, the pressure rises by a temperature increase in the supply line which takes place after switching off the internal combustion engine of the motor vehicle.
- the known from practice fuel supply system has a pressure regulator, which, however, is very expensive.
- the invention is based on the problem to further develop a fuel supply system of the type mentioned that it is constructed particularly inexpensive and reliably prevents the exceeding of the pressure in the flow line.
- a pressure limiting valve which prevents the pressure in the supply line from being exceeded by discharging the fuel into the fuel tank above an intended pressure. Below the intended pressure in the supply line, the pressure is generated exclusively by the pressure sensor and the control unit controlled by the fuel delivery unit.
- the pressure relief valve is shot and thus passive and does not interfere with the pressure control.
- the pressure relief valve is preferably completely closed, thereby preventing a pressure loss and an unnecessary promotion of the fuel within the fuel tank.
- the pressure relief valve can be manufactured more cost-effectively than a pressure regulator, whereby the fuel supply system according to the invention is constructed particularly cost-effective.
- Known fuel supply systems generally have a pre-filter disposed in front of the fuel delivery unit and a fine filter arranged in front of the supply line for filtering the fuel.
- a contamination of the pressure relief valve according to an advantageous embodiment of the invention can be easily avoided when the pressure relief valve is arranged behind a fine filter seen in the flow direction. By these designs malfunction of the pressure relief valve can be avoided.
- the fuel supply system according to the invention is structurally particularly simple if the pressure relief valve in a mounting opening of the fuel tank closing, a connection for the flow line having flange is arranged.
- the pressure generated by the fuel delivery unit can be reliably maintained even after a shutdown of the fuel delivery unit when the fine filter has a filter housing with an inlet port of a guided from the fuel delivery unit line and when in the inlet port, a check valve is arranged. With this design, the pressure provided in the supply line is available without time delay when the internal combustion engine is restarted.
- the components for filtering the fuel and limiting the pressure in the flow line can be particularly compact according to another advantageous embodiment of the invention, when the fine filter is tubular, designed to flow from the outside to the inside and when the pressure relief valve is arranged in the center of the fine filter , By this design, the space required by the fine filter with the pressure relief valve space is kept particularly low.
- a malfunction of the pressure relief valve can be largely avoided according to another advantageous embodiment of the invention, when a spring element for biasing a valve body against a valve seat of the pressure relief valve is designed frusto-conical in longitudinal section. Due to the frusto-conical design, the spring element is constructed kink-proof, thereby ensuring that the pressure relief valve closes reliably after opening.
- the valve seat of the pressure relief valve is reliably protected according to another advantageous embodiment of the invention from contamination when the pressure relief valve has a seen in the flow direction arranged in front of the valve seat sieve. This design becomes the danger a malfunction of the pressure relief valve further reduced.
- the strainer preferably has a mesh width of 100 ⁇ m in today's fuel supply systems intended for the production of diesel fuel.
- a reliable closing of the pressure limiting valve can be ensured according to the invention if the valve seat is arranged on a metal sheet and if the metal sheet is coated with a rubber-elastic material. Furthermore, it is possible to perform a fine adjustment of the pressure relief valve by a deformation of the sheet of the valve seat. Due to the fine adjustment, the pressure at which the pressure relief valve opens and closes can be adjusted very precisely.
- the pressure limiting valve can be easily preassembled and adjusted to form a structural unit if the pressure limiting valve has a tubular valve housing with the connection and if the spring element, the valve body, the valve seat and the sieve and / or the throttle in the Valve housing are arranged. Subsequently, the structural unit can be easily mounted in the fuel supply system according to the invention.
- the fuel supply system according to the invention is thus particularly cost-effective.
- the assembly of the pressure relief valve is particularly simple according to another advantageous embodiment of the invention, when the pressure relief valve is made in one piece with locking elements.
- FIG. 1 shows a fuel supply system 1 for supplying an internal combustion engine 2 with fuel with an on-demand arranged in a fuel tank 3 fuel delivery unit 4.
- the fuel delivery unit 4 has a arranged in a swirl pot 5, driven by an electric motor 7 fuel pump 6.
- a pre-filter 8 is arranged on a suction side of Fuel pump 6, a pre-filter 8 is arranged.
- the fuel pump 6 is connected via a guided inside the fuel tank 2 line 9 with a fine filter 10.
- the fine filter 10 and the swirl pot 5 are each connected to a flange 14, 15 inserted into mounting holes 12, 13 of the fuel tank 3.
- the swirl pot 5 is also biased by a spring element 16 against the bottom of the fuel tank 3.
- the arranged inside the fuel tank 3 line 9 is connected to a suction jet pump 17.

- One of the outlet ports 25 has a pressure relief valve 27.
- the flow line 11 is connected to the other outlet port 24 of the fine filter 10.
- the pressure relief valve 27 is located in the center of the fine filter 10.
- An outlet 28 of the pressure relief valve 27 opens into the in FIG. 1 illustrated fuel tank 3.
- FIG. 1 also shows that seen in the flow direction before the suction jet pump 17, a further check valve 29 is arranged.
- the pressure in the flow line 11 is detected by a pressure sensor 30.
- the pressure sensor 30 supplies electrical signals to a control device 31, which controls the fuel delivery unit 4 via a voltage control 32 as a function of the pressure in the supply line 11.
- the pressure limiting valve 27 has a tubular valve housing 33 with latching elements 34 arranged on the outside. Via the latching elements 34, the valve housing 33 is fastened and sealed in the filter housing 21 of the fine filter 10 , In the valve housing 33, a channel-like connection 35 is arranged, which is a pressure side of the fine filter 10 connects with the outlet 28 of the pressure relief valve 27 . In the channel-like connection 35 a biased by a spring element 36 against a valve seat 37 valve body 38 is arranged. The spring element 36 is frustoconically designed for security against buckling.
- the valve seat 37 is made of a coated with a rubber-elastic material 42 sheet 39 and pressed into the valve housing 33. Furthermore, in the channel-like connection 35, a sieve 40 and a throttle 41 are arranged. For clarity, the valve seat 37 with the valve body 38 in FIG. 3a shown greatly enlarged.
- the valve body 38 If the pressure on the pressure side of the fine filter 10 and thus in the flow line 11 exceeds a prescribed threshold value, the valve body 38 is pressed away from the valve seat 37 against the force of the spring element 36. Thus, the channel-like connection 35 is released and fuel can flow from the flow line 11 into the fuel tank 3. Below the intended threshold value, the pressure relief valve 27 is reliably closed and prevents a flow of fuel from the fine filter 10 or the flow line 11 into the fuel tank 3.
- the threshold at which the pressure relief valve 27 opens can be adjusted by the use of a correspondingly rigid spring element 36 and in a fine adjustment by a deformation of the valve seat 37 having sheet 39 can be adjusted.
