Definitions

  • the invention relates to the sealing of a joint, for example between a frame profile of a window or a door and a building wall, with a sealing tape.
  • a sealing strip for adhering to a window frame which consists of a rigid channel U-shaped cross section and an elastically compressed foam strip disposed therein, which is closed by a dimensionally stable cover strip, the edge held in a releasable form-fitting engagement connection to the end region of the channel walls is.
  • the cover strip is like a flag connected with a pliable strip element, which extends under leadership over a peripheral edge of the cover strip away into the channel of the sealing strip inside. By pulling on the strip element, the cover strip can be detached from the channel, so that the compressed foam strip can relax. This construction is very expensive.
  • a sealing tape which consists of a flat bar for adhering to a frame profile and a foam strip arranged thereon.
  • the foam strip is covered by a sheet of paper or plastic, which is glued to the flat bar and keeps the foam strip in the compressed state.
  • tear-open In the edge strip of the cover run tear-open, with the help of which the film can be torn open after installation of the provided with the sealing strip frame profile in the building.
  • a pre-compressed sealing tape which consists of a resiliently elastic foam strip of rectangular cross-section, which is completely enclosed in the compressed state by a sheath which is formed by a plastic film.
  • the plastic film forms a running in the longitudinal direction of the sealing strip tear tab by the plastic film is arrested to form a predetermined breaking point against itself.
  • the foam strip is glued on its underside with the wrapper, and the wrapper is in turn on its underside with separate adhesives, such as a double-sided adhesive tape, attachable to a frame profile.
  • Sealing tapes of this type are adhered to the frame profile to be sealed, and after Assembly of the frame profile in a building wall opening, the envelope is torn open to allow the foam strip to elastically reset and thus seal the frame profile on the building wall.
  • these known sealing tapes it is disadvantageous that they can only be produced in relatively small widths, since otherwise due to the restoring force of the precompressed sealing tape, an oval to round shape results within the envelope, which is unsuitable for installation.
  • the closest prior art gemä ⁇ WO 98145565 A describes a foam gaskets surrounded by a wrapper.
  • a rigid layer of cardboard or plastic may be provided. After opening the foil-like wrapping the foam strip expands a little in the sealed joint in which he is loosely inserted. The rigid layer of cardboard or plastic also remains in the joint.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a method for sealing a joint, which can be easily performed and is suitable for improved sealing even very wide joints.
  • steps b) to d) are not necessarily as stated above.
  • steps c) and d) can proceed particularly simply and simultaneously.
  • the insertion of the sealing tape in the joint is made only after the steps c) and d). This is possible in particular if the expansion of the foam strip takes place significantly delayed due to a sticky impregnation.
  • At least one predetermined breaking point preferably two predetermined breaking points, are severed to open the foil-like wrapping. In this way it can be ensured that only a previously determined section of the film-like covering remains in the joint.
  • the preferred sealing tape comprises an elastically resilient longitudinally wider than transversely extending foam strip having two side surfaces and two lateral surfaces connecting the side surfaces, and a film-like covering completely surrounding the foam strip and thereby maintaining the foam strip in a pre-compressed condition.
  • a first transverse surface of the foam strip is pressed against a strip-shaped element, which is arranged within the envelope and has at least a certain bending stiffness in the transverse direction.
  • a second transverse surface of the foam strip which faces the first transverse surface is fixedly connected to the film-like envelope.
  • the strip-shaped element is formed slippery in the longitudinal direction.
  • the sealing tape can be wound into a roll, which greatly simplifies the transport and storage of the sealing strip.
  • the wrapper has a longitudinally extending tear tab which serves as a tension member for opening the wrapper.
  • the envelope can be opened in a simple manner by the user.
  • the strip-shaped element may have a transversely over the foam strip projecting end portion which serves as a tension element for opening the enclosure.
  • the user after attaching the sealing band to the frame member to be sealed, the user only has to pull on the projecting end portion of the strip-shaped member to rupture the envelope and allow expansion of the foam strip. It is also possible to first open the envelope by means of a tear tab and then pull out the strip-shaped element.
  • the sheath can be provided with at least one predetermined breaking point, preferably a perforation line, extending in the longitudinal direction of the sealing strip, whereby the opening of the sheath is simplified.
  • the second transverse surface of the foam strip which is not pressed against the strip-shaped element, preferably equipped with a double-sided adhesive strip.
  • a second strip-shaped element may be provided in the region of the second transverse surface, which is not pressed against the first strip-shaped element, which also has at least a certain bending stiffness in the transverse direction.
  • this second strip-shaped element is also disposed within the enclosure so that the enclosure disposed about both strip-shaped elements and the foam strip can apply its force to the transverse surfaces by means of the rigid elements.
  • the double-sided adhesive strip preferably connects the foam strip to the second strip-shaped element, which in turn is adhesively bonded to the cover.
  • the envelope For attachment to the frame component to be sealed, the envelope is preferably covered in the region of the second transverse surface, which is not pressed against the first strip-shaped element, on its outer side by a double-sided adhesive tape, which in turn may be covered for safe transport after production of a cover ,
  • the sealing tape can already be pre-assembled on the frame component to be sealed, and on the construction site, only after insertion of the frame member in the building opening, the enclosure must be opened to allow the expansion of the foam strip.
  • the wrapper is adhesively bonded to the end portion on both sides, thereby providing better handling.
  • the opening operation can be perfected.
  • the lateral extraction of the strip-shaped element is preferably further simplified in that the strip-shaped element has slots in the transverse direction.
  • a foil-like lug is arranged in the region of one of the side surfaces of the foam strip within the envelope, which is firmly connected to the foam strip near the strip-shaped element in a first connection region and is firmly connected to the foil-like envelope in a second connection region.
  • This flag serves as an expansion reserve of the film-like wrapping and thus covers the entire side surface of the sealing strip after expansion of the foam strip.
  • foam strips, sheaths, adhesive tapes, strip-shaped elements and cover sheets are partially shown at a certain distance from each other to clearly distinguish the individual elements that make up the sealing strip. In reality, these elements are closely related.
  • Fig. 1 to 6 show embodiments of sealing tapes usable according to the invention.
  • a foam strip 2 is shown, which in the illustrated example has a rectangular cross-section, is surrounded by a film-like envelope 4 and is held by this in a precompressed state.
  • the foam strip 2 may be formed of any open cell or closed cell flexible foam, eg polyurethane or polyethylene, and may be impregnated for a delayed recovery.
  • a multilayer arrangement of a plurality of different foam materials laminated on one another is just as conceivable as the arrangement of an impregnated foam layer on a non-impregnated foam layer.
  • the foam strip 2 extends in its longitudinal direction further than in its transverse direction and has two side surfaces 6 and two transverse surfaces 8, 9 (top 8 and bottom 9), which connect the two side surfaces 6.
  • the material of the envelope 4 may be a sheet material, a mesh fabric, paper or other material which is suitable for the stated purpose.
  • laminated films composed of a plastic film laminated with a base material (eg, nonwoven fabric) or fabric-reinforced films may also be used. All these materials are described by the term "film-like”. Combinations of these materials are possible.
  • a thermoplastic film or a shrink film which is preferred is preferred contracts under the influence of heat.
  • At least one transverse surface in the present example the underside 9 of the foam strip 2, is pressed onto a strip-shaped element 10 which has at least a certain flexural rigidity in the transverse direction.
  • the bending stiffness should be so high that the strip-shaped element 10 absorbs the force which would result from the expansion tendency of the foam strip 2 and would normally lead to a deformation of the flexible covering 4 to a tube with an oval or even round cross-section, without self-closing to be very deformed.
  • the strip-shaped element 10 is preferably formed in the longitudinal direction limp, so that the sealing tape can be wound into a roll.
  • the strip-shaped element 10 may have a projecting end portion 12, which projects beyond a side surface 6 of the foam strip 2 and serves as pulling means for pulling out.
  • the strip-shaped element 10 is formed continuously only in the region of the end section 12, while incisions extending in the transverse direction over the remaining width are formed in the strip-shaped element 10.
  • the protruding end portion 12 is adapted to grasp the strip-shaped element 10 and to open the envelope 4 by pulling it outwardly.
  • at least one predetermined breaking point 14, preferably a perforation line, may be provided in the envelope 4 in the area of the side surface 6, beyond which the projecting end section 12 of the strip-shaped element 10 protrudes.
  • positions of the predetermined breaking points 14 are preferred because in this case after opening the sheath 4 little or no material on the side surface 6 remains and a large part of the envelope, which is not glued (see below), along the expanding foam strip 2 slides along and arranges over the other side surface 6.
  • This can be used, for example, if the envelope 4 has special sealing properties, which is for the special sealing of the other side surface 6, for example in the sense of a vapor diffusion barrier serve.
  • a double-sided adhesive strip 16 is arranged in the illustrated example between the other transverse surface of the foam strip 2, here the top 8, and the enclosure 4 and connects the two elements firmly together.
  • the firm connection between foam strip 2 and sheath 4 can also be effected by other means, for example via thermoplastic lamination or welding.
  • the upwardly facing outside of the adhesive tape 18 is preferably covered by a peelable, peelable cover sheet 20, for example, a silicone paper 10 or the like, as long as the sealing tape is not attached to the component.
  • the adhesive tape 18 is very often realized by an adhesive layer which adheres to a silicone paper or the like and which has been laminated in this form on the envelope 4. Occasionally, a mesh fabric or a carrier film, non-woven or the like may be embedded in this adhesive layer to increase the tensile strength.
  • adhesive tape used above should therefore also encompass adhesive layers of this type described here. The same applies to the term “adhesive strip”.
  • Fig. 2 a similar embodiment is shown in which the wrapper can be torn open by means of a tear tab 22.
  • the two portions of the wrapper 4 are held together near the foam strip 2 by a seam line, which may be a weld, glued seam or suture, and which may be opened by pulling on the tear tab 22.
  • the tear tab 22 is formed either from protruding sections of the enclosure 4 or may be a thread or the like.
  • the projecting end portion 12 of the strip-shaped member 10 serves only for removal the same after opening the sheath 4. In some circumstances, the projecting end portion 12 may also be completely eliminated, as in Fig. 2 is shown.
  • the in the Fig. 1 to 4 illustrated embodiments are shown in a more idealized shape of the cross section of the foam strip 2.
  • the upper transverse surface 8 of the foam strip 2 is at least slightly expanded in the direction of a dome shape by the pressure acting from the inside, so that the cross-section of the foam strip 2 in the pre-compressed state assumes a certain extent, though not too different, shape from the rectangle ,
  • a second strip-shaped element 24 may be arranged, which is connected by means of the adhesive layer 16 with the foam strip 2 and by means of another adhesive strip 26 with the sheath 4.
  • This strip-shaped element 24 has the same properties as the first strip-shaped element 10 and would remain in the joint after the opening 4 has been opened.
  • the adhesive strip 26 can be dispensed with if the strip-shaped element 24 is adhesively bonded to the covering in another way, for example by gluing or lamination.
  • the envelope 4 may be in the region of the end portion 12 of the strip-shaped member 10 also adhesively connected thereto, for example by gluing or by lamination of the two elements.
  • a seam is conceivable, which passes through the two loops of the envelope 4 and the end portion 12, these elements together and at the same time serves as a predetermined breaking point of the enclosure 4.
  • an additional L-shaped adhesive strip (not shown) may be glued from the outside over the seam to a predetermined breaking point 14, which, as in Fig. 3 is arranged in the edge region of the upper side 8. This ensures that the tensile force is transmitted across the seam to the predetermined breaking point 14.
  • the precompressed sealing tape can be offered wound up on a roll or sold as a straight strip of a predetermined length.
  • the sealing tape can be fixed by means of the adhesive tape 18 before installation or even before the transport of the sealed frame member to this. After installation in the appropriate building opening on site then only the enclosure 4 must be opened by a knife or train on the protruding end portion 12 and on the tear tab 22 become.
  • the adhered to the frame member parts of the sheath 4 and in turn firmly adhered cross-section 8 of the foam strip 2 remain in place, while the foam strip 2 in the direction of the transverse surface, which was pressed on the first strip-shaped element 10 expands and sealing the Fugue guaranteed.
  • the non-glued to the frame member part of the envelope 4 slides along the expanding foam strip 2 and finally covered in the final state preferably at least a portion of the other side surface. 6
  • Fig. 5 and Fig. 6 is a further embodiment of the present invention usable sealing tape shown.
  • a film-like lug 28 is arranged within the envelope 4, which consists of one of the materials which have been enumerated above for the envelope 4.
  • the flag 28 is particularly preferably made of an air-impermeable and / or vapor diffusion-inhibiting or -êtn material.
  • This flag 28 is firmly connected to the foam strip 2 in a first connection region 30.
  • This first connection region 30 is preferably arranged on the underside 9 of the foam strip 2 between the foam strip 2 and the strip-shaped element 10.
  • the connecting portion 30 may be in the lower end region of the side surface 6 of the foam strip 2, which is adjacent to the strip-shaped element 10.
  • the firm connection between the flag 28 and foam strip 2 is preferably carried out by means of an adhesive tape, but can also be done in other ways, for example via thermoplastic welding.
  • the flag 28 extends in an interior of the enclosure 4 and is also firmly connected thereto in a second connection region 32.
  • the connection is also here preferably via bonding or another permanent connection means.
  • the flag 28 thus serves as an expansion reserve of the film-like envelope 4, because after removal of the strip-shaped element 10 and the associated opening of the film-like envelope 4 (in the example shown at the two predetermined breaking points 14) the foil-like flag 28 remains together with the portion of the film-like envelope 4, which is connected to it in the second connection region 32, permanently on the foam strip 2 and covers its side surface. 6
  • the lug 28 can also have at least one loop which can be arranged in the region between the foam strip 2 and the strip-shaped element 10 or in the region of the free interior of the foil-like sheath 4 in order to extend the expansion reserve. It is also possible that the flag 28 has a plurality of wrinkles glued together. In the simplest embodiment, however, the expansion reserve is only formed by firmly connecting a section of the film-like envelope 4 and the lug 28 in a connection region 32 which is at a certain distance from the side surface 6 of the foam strip 2.
  • a further connection region 34 is arranged in the manner of a fixed connection between the film-like covering 4 and the strip-shaped element 10 in the transition region to the projecting end section 12, the projecting end section 12 can, as in FIG Fig. 6 is shown, are folded down and inside, with which the sealing tape can also be wound into a roll without the protruding end portion 12 obstructing the winding of the sealing tape and the transport of the sealing strip roll.
  • the foam strips 2 are precompressed so that, when relaxed, they can preferably expand to about five to six times their pre-compressed thickness, but only about half of this is utilized to ensure secure engagement with the building part which is opposite to the profile element to be sealed.
  • the sealing strip which can be used according to the invention has been described above using the example of a foam strip 1 with a rectangular cross-section, because this facilitates the explanation.
  • the term "rectangular” should also include “square".
  • the sealing tape can be realized in a corresponding manner with foam strips 2 which have cross sections which deviate from the rectangle.
  • the specified cross-sectional shape of the foam strip 2 should therefore not be understood as limiting.
