Definitions
- the invention relates to a sealing tape for sealing a joint, for example between a frame profile of a window or a door and a building wall.
- a pre-compressed sealing tape which consists of a resiliently elastic foam strip of rectangular cross-section, which is completely enclosed in the compressed state by a sheath which is formed by a plastic film.
- the plastic film forms a running in the longitudinal direction of the sealing strip tear tab by the plastic film is arrested to form a predetermined breaking point against itself.
- the foam strip is glued on its underside with the wrapper, and the wrapper is in turn on its underside with separate adhesives, such as a double-sided adhesive tape, attachable to a frame profile.
- Sealing tapes of this type are adhered to the frame profile to be sealed, and after installation of the frame profile in a building wall opening the enclosure is torn open to allow the foam strip to resiliently reset and thus seal the frame profile on the building wall.
- these known sealing tapes it is disadvantageous that they can only be produced in relatively small widths, since otherwise due to the restoring force of the precompressed sealing tape, an oval to round shape results within the envelope, which is unsuitable for installation.
- Sealing tapes which consist of a combination of a soft foam strip with a foil are also made EP 1 936 246 A and EP 1 936 247 A known. These sealing tapes provide improved sealing properties due to the definable position of the film in the installed state. However, such sealing tapes are not well suited for deep joints.
- a sealing tape which consists of a flat bar for adhering to a frame profile and a foam strip arranged thereon.
- the foam strip is covered by a sheet of paper or plastic, which is glued to the flat bar and keeps the foam strip in the compressed state.
- Edge strips of the covering film run tear-open threads, with the help of which the film can be torn open after installation of the provided with the sealing strip frame profile in the building.
- WO 98/45565 A describes a sealing strip of foam, which is surrounded by a sheath.
- a rigid layer of cardboard or plastic may be provided. After opening the foil-like wrapping the foam strip expands a little in the sealed joint in which he is loosely inserted.
- the invention has for its object to provide a sealing tape that is simple and easy to handle and seals excellent sealing with low material consumption joints of any depth.
- the sealing tape comprises a first foam strip having a top side and a bottom side, a second foam strip having a top side and a bottom side, and a film-like connecting element having a first fastening section, a second fastening section and an intermediate section therebetween, wherein the first fastening section is at least partially attached to the first foam strip, the second attachment portion is at least partially attached to the second foam strip, and the central portion, when viewed in a straight extended state, extends from the top of the first foam strip to the bottom of the second foam strip.
- the consumption of foam material can be considerably reduced with large joint depths, and due to the defined position of the film-like connecting element a secure sealing of the joint can be ensured.
- the film-like connecting element is protected in this structure from damage during transport or handling.
- the central portion of the film-like connector is not attached to the first or second foam strip. This achieves a greater variability of the sealing tape for a variety of applications.
- a first self-adhesive layer may be disposed on the underside of the first foam strip, which is covered by a first cover.
- a second self-adhesive layer which is covered by a second cover film, may be arranged on the underside of the second foam strip.
- the second self-adhesive layer is arranged below the second fastening portion of the film-like connecting element.
- first self-adhesive layer and the second self-adhesive layer may be integrally formed with each other and formed by a one-piece stretchable self-adhesive strip.
- a further self-adhesive layer which is covered by a further covering film may be arranged on the upper side of the first foam strip.
- a further self-adhesive layer which is covered by a further covering film can furthermore be arranged on the upper side of the second foam strip.
- a simple and secure attachment of the film-like connecting element to the foam strip is achieved if the first fastening section and the second fastening section of the film-like connecting element are fastened to the first and second foam strips by means of an adhesive layer.
- This adhesive layer can be dispensed with if the double-sided self-adhesive layers are used as adhesives, which actually serve for fastening the sealing strip to the component. This is achieved by the fact that the first attachment portion and / or the second attachment portion of the film-like connecting element has recesses.
- the sealing tape For a safe and space-saving storage of the sealing tape, it can be wound into a sealing tape roll.
- the first foam strip and the second foam strip can be wound next to each other around a take-up, whereby the handling is easier to use.
- first foam strip and the second foam strip may be wound one above the other around a take-up sleeve so that the width of the seal tape roll is minimized.
- a component to which a sealing strip according to the invention is fastened is preferably characterized in that the first foam strip and the second foam strip are arranged next to one another and an intermediate space is formed between the first and second foam strips through which the film-like connecting element extends.
- foam strips, film-like connecting elements, adhesive layers and covering films are partially shown at a certain distance from each other to clearly distinguish the individual elements that form the sealing strip. In reality, these elements are closely related.
- a sealing tape which has at least one first foam strip 2 and a second foam strip 4.
- the foam strips 2, 4 have a rectangular cross-section, but also any other shapes are conceivable.
- the foam strips 2, 4 may be formed of any open cell or closed cell flexible foam, for example of polyurethane or polyethylene, and may be impregnated for delayed recovery after compression. The density of such flexible foams is between 20 and 200 kg / m 3 .
- the materials of the first foam strip 2 and the second foam strip 4 may differ from one another, for example to ensure different air permeabilities of the sealing tape in the interior and exterior or a vapor diffusion gradient.
- the width of the foam strips 2, 4 may also be different, as well as their height or their impregnation.
- the foam strips 2, 4 are usually precompressed so that they can expand when relaxing preferably to about five to ten times their occupied in the pre-compressed state thickness, but often only about half is utilized to secure investment to ensure the building part, which is opposite to the profile element to be sealed.
- the foam strips 2, 4 extend in their longitudinal direction further than in their transverse direction. Connected are the two foam strips 2, 4 via a film-like connecting element. 6
- the film-like connecting element 6 consists of a plastic film, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride or rubber.
- the film-like connecting element 6 may consist of a foamed plastic, such as polyethylene, polypropylene or cellular rubber.
- the material of the film-like connecting element 6 may also be aluminum, a mesh, paper or other material which is suitable for the stated purpose.
- laminated films composed of a plastic film laminated with a base material (e.g., nonwoven fabric) or fabric-reinforced films may also be used. All these materials are described by the term "film-like". Combinations of these materials are possible. Particularly preferred are airtight films which seal the gap to the inside of the room without the possibility of vapor diffusion.
- the thickness of the film-like connecting element 6 is between 10 ⁇ m and 5 mm, preferably between 50 ⁇ m and 2 mm.
- the film-like connecting element 6 comprises a first attachment portion 8, which is associated with the first foam strip 2 and is at least partially attached thereto.
- the first fastening section 8 of the film-like connecting element 6 is fastened to the first foam strip 2 by means of a first adhesive layer 10.
- the adhesive layer 10 is often laminated to the foam strip 2.
- this Adhesive layer 10 still be a mesh fabric or a carrier film, a non-woven or the like embedded to increase the tensile strength.
- the term "adhesive layer” used above should therefore also encompass adhesive layers of this type described here. This also applies to all other adhesive layers and self-adhesive layers mentioned in this document.
- the first adhesive layer 10 is designed as a double-sided adhesive tape, which establishes a firm adhesive bond between the first foam strip 2 and the first attachment section 8 of the film-like connecting element 6.
- the solid compound can also be made by other means, such as thermoplastic lamination.
- the first adhesive layer 10 is formed on the upper side 12 of the first foam strip 2 and covers it completely. It is also possible that the adhesion of the film-like connecting element 6 is realized with the first foam strip 2 only in a partial region of the top 12 of the first foam strip 2, or that the film-like connecting element 6 passes over the top 12 of the first foam strip 2, but on one of its side surfaces or on its underside 14 is fixed, although this is not shown in the illustrated embodiments. Likewise, only a selective attachment of the film-like connecting element 6 on the first foam strip 2 is conceivable. These statements apply analogously to the second foam strip 4.
- the film-like connecting element 6 has a second fastening section 16 which is at least partially fastened to the second foam strip 4.
- the attachment of the second fastening portion 16 is preferably carried out by means of a second adhesive layer 18, which is preferably arranged on the underside 20 of the second foam strip 4.
- the film-like connecting element 6 has a middle section 22 which extends from the upper side 12 of the first foam strip 2 to the lower side 20 of the second foam strip 4 extends.
- This central portion 22 of the film-like connecting element 6 is preferably not attached to the first or second foam strips 2, 4, but is exposed.
- the sealing tape preferably has a plurality of self-adhesive layers.
- a first self-adhesive layer 26 is preferably arranged, which is covered by a first cover film 28.
- a second self-adhesive layer 30 is preferably arranged, which is covered by a second cover film 32.
- This second self-adhesive layer 30 is preferably arranged underneath the second fastening section 16 of the film-like connecting element 6 and applied thereto.
- top and bottom of the foam strips 2, 4 must be specified in more detail in this regard, since the two foam strips 2, 4 can be rotated arbitrarily to each other. Therefore, the following definition applies: “top” and “bottom” of the foam strips 2, 4 are to be understood in the context of the present disclosure such that these each top (“top”) or bottom ("bottom") side of the respective foam strip 2, 4 at rectilinearly stretched middle portion 22 of the film-like connecting element 6 denote. If the central portion 22 is not arranged in a straight line, such as in the Fig. 5b . 6 . 8 and 9 shown, this middle section must be mentally stretched to determine the top or bottom of the foam strips 2, 4 can.
- the underside 20 of the second foam strip 4 is the left-hand side face, since this would lie below when the middle section 22 is stretched.
- the upper sides 12, 34 of the first and second foam strips 2, 4 may also be provided with a self-adhesive layer.
- a third self-adhesive layer 36 is disposed on the upper side 12 of the first foam strip 2, which is covered by a third cover film 38.
- a fourth self-adhesive layer 40 may be arranged which is covered by a fourth cover film 42.
- the third self-adhesive layer 36 is in this case arranged above the first fastening section 8 of the film-like connecting element 6 and on this appropriate.
- the number of self-adhesive layers 26, 30, 36, 40 is arbitrary depending on the purpose. However, at least the arrangement of a self-adhesive layer 26, 30, 36, 40 for fastening the sealing tape to the component 24 is advantageous.
- the self-adhesive layers 26, 30, 36, 40 preferably consist of an adhesive (acrylate, butyl or the like), while the cover films 28, 32, 38, 42 are preferably formed as a release paper.
- FIG. 2 an embodiment of the sealing tape according to the invention with an additional third foam strip 44 is shown.
- the third foam strip 44 is provided on its underside with a third adhesive layer 46, which is connected to a third attachment portion 48 of the film-like connecting element 6.
- a fifth self-adhesive layer 50 with associated fifth cover film 52 and on its underside a sixth self-adhesive layer 54 with associated sixth cover 56 are provided on the third foam strip 44 preferably on its upper side.
- various recesses 58 are formed in the first fastening section 8 or in the second fastening section 16 of the film-like connecting element 6.
- the shape of the recesses 58 may either be oval as shown on the left or designed in the form of triangles as shown on the right. But it is also any other geometric design conceivable.
- the recesses 58 may be formed only on one side of the film-like connecting element 6.
- the recesses 58 have the effect that either the first adhesive layer 10 or the second adhesive layer 18 between the first foam strip 2 and the film-like connecting element 6 or between the second foam strip 4 and the film-like connecting element 6 can be dispensed with or the second self-adhesive layer 30 or the third self-adhesive layer 36 can be omitted, since the respectively arranged on the other side of the film-like connecting element 6 adhesive through the receptacles 58 therethrough ensures a secure arrest.
- Fig. 4 a further embodiment of the sealing tape according to the invention is shown.
- the underside 14 of the first foam strip 2 is shorter than the top 12 of the first foam strip 2
- the bottom 20 of the second foam strip 4 is formed longer than the top 34 of the second foam strip 4.
- the two wedge-shaped foam strips 2, 4 can be produced without generation of waste by an oblique cut of a foam block.
- the sealing strip according to the invention can be produced both in strip form and as a sealing strip roll.
- Fig. 5a to 5d and 6 Several possibilities of arranging a sealing tape according to the invention are shown within a sealing tape roll. Both Fig. 5a to 5d and Fig. 6 It should be noted that only a section of the sealing tape roll is shown. In the full cross-section, the same elements as shown would again be seen mirror-inverted downwards.
- the first foam strip 2 and the second foam strip 4 are each arranged next to one another and wound around a take-up sleeve 60. Due to the roll shape, a plurality of turns of the first foam strip 2 lie one above the other, as are several turns of the second foam strip 4 on top of each other. In the embodiment as a sealing tape roll, the first foam strips 2 and the second foam strips 4 are each held in the pre-compressed state.
- the central portion 22 of the film-like connecting element 6 is formed in a loop shape and placed on the first foam strip 2.
- the loop thus lies between each two adjacent turns of the first foam strip 2.
- the first and second self-adhesive layers 26, 30 are integrally formed with each other and are formed by a self-adhesive strip 64 which is also covered by only a single cover sheet 66, which both cover sheets 28, 32 replaced.
- the self-adhesive strip 64 must be sufficiently stretchable to allow the first foam strip 2 to be fastened sufficiently far enough from the second strip of foam 4 when in the joint, while the self-adhesive strip 64 spans the distance between the foam strips 2, 4. In this way, a seal of different joint depths with simplified handling is possible.
- the embodiment in Fig. 5d differs from the embodiment Fig. 5c in that the formed loop of the middle section 22 of the film-like connecting element 6 rests on the upper side 34 of the second foam strip 4 and the first fastening section 8 of the film-like connecting element 6 covers only a small area of the upper side 12 of the first foam strip 2.
- the first foam strip 2 was folded over onto the second foam strip 4, so that the first and second foam strips 2, 4 are now one above the other. Due to the configuration as a sealing tape roll, layers of the first foam strip 2 now alternate with layers of the second foam strip 4 within the roll.
- Fig. 7 to 9 Various possibilities of the arrangement of the sealing tape according to the invention are shown in a joint. It was dispensed with a representation of adhesive layers or self-adhesive layers.
- the first foam strip 2 and the second foam strip 4 are attached to the component 24 and fill the joint defined by the masonry 62.
- the first foam strip 2 and the second foam strip 4 are arranged side by side and between the first and second foam strips 2, 4, a gap is formed through which the film-like connecting element 6, more precisely, the central portion 22 extends.
- the outer and the inner region of the joint is closed and an air layer is enclosed between the two foam strips 2, 4, which also has insulating effect.
- FIG. 10a and 10b show two other installation situations of the sealing tape according to the invention.
- the two foam strips 2, 4 are also rotated relative to each other, wherein the regular arrangement of the self-adhesive layers 26, 30 from Fig. 1 for fixing the foam strips 2, 4 on the component 24 or on the masonry 62 is suitable.
- the sealing tape according to the invention could also be fastened to it before the transport of the component to be sealed 24.
- the sealing tape is prevented by a sheath (not shown) in its expansion. Then, after installation in the corresponding building opening on site, only the covering would have to be opened, whereupon the foam strips 2, 4 expand upward and ensure the sealing of the joint.
