Definitions
- the invention relates to a sealing tape made of soft foam for sealing a joint, for example between a component such as a frame profile of a window or a door and a building wall.
- Sealing tapes of this type are adhered to the component to be sealed, and after assembly of the component in a building wall opening expands the previously compressed foam strips, so is elastic back, and thus seals the component on the building wall.
- these known sealing tapes it is disadvantageous that, in the case of uneven masonry, the sealing function leaves something to be desired in part. This is especially true for large bumps in the masonry of the joint to be sealed.
- the invention has for its object to provide a sealing strip which is simple and has excellent insulation even with large bumps in the masonry of the joint to be sealed.
- the sealing strip has a foam strip made of soft foam, which has two side surfaces, an upper side and a lower side.
- the foam strip on a plurality of three-dimensional foam segments, which are separated by incisions extending from the top of the foam strip, from each other.
- the incisions are each arranged such that a plurality of foam segments in the longitudinal direction and in the transverse direction of the sealing strip is each completely surrounded by other foam segments. This maximizes the sealing effect.
- the foam segments extend in the expanded state of the foam strip over at least 50% of its height, preferably at least 60% of its height, more preferably at least 70% of its height, more preferably at least 90% of its height.
- the foam strip in the region of its underside has a web which connects the foam segments together and ensures their structural cohesion.
- the foam segments extend in the expanded state of the foam strip over 100% of its height. Then a maximum decoupling of the restoring movements of the individual foam segments is guaranteed.
- a plurality of incisions extend substantially parallel to the side surfaces.
- a plurality of notches may extend substantially perpendicular to the side surfaces to form a checkered pattern of foam segments in plan view.
- a plurality of notches may extend substantially perpendicular to the side surfaces to form a checkered pattern of foam segments in plan view.
- diamond-shaped configurations or any other geometric configuration of the foam segments are conceivable.
- the sealing tape has a carrier layer which is adhered to the underside of the foam strip. This carrier layer serves to connect the individual foam segments.
- the carrier layer is stretchable, whereby a pulling apart of the foam segments in the transverse direction of the sealing strip and thus a seal of joints of different depths is possible.
- the incisions between the individual foam segments can be pulled apart to spaces that also act insulating due to the trapped air.
- the attachment of the sealing tape to the component to be sealed is particularly simple if the carrier layer is adhesive on both sides or configured as a double-sided self-adhesive tape is.
- the carrier layer is adhesive on both sides or configured as a double-sided self-adhesive tape is.
- other ways of attaching the sealing tape on the component are possible, for example by means not integrated into the backing layer self-adhesive strips or pasties, liquid or hot melt adhesives.
- foam strips, adhesive layers, carrier layers and cover sheets are partially shown at a certain distance from each other to clearly distinguish the individual elements that form the sealing strip. In reality, these elements are closely related. Also, the distance of the sealing tape to be sealed component is not present in reality.
- a sealing tape having a foam strip 2.
- the foam strip 2 has in the illustrated embodiment has a rectangular cross section, but there are also any other shapes conceivable.
- the foam strip 2 always comprises two side surfaces 4, an upper side 6 and a lower side 8.
- the foam strip 2 may be formed of any open cell or closed cell flexible foam, eg polyurethane or polyethylene, and may be impregnated for delayed recovery after compression.
- the density of such flexible foams is between 20 and 200 kg / m 3 .
- the foam strip 2 extends in its longitudinal direction (arrow B) further than in its transverse direction (arrow A), which simultaneously represents the functional direction of the sealing strip and extends between the two side surfaces 4.
- the foam strip 2 is usually precompressed so that it can expand when relaxing preferably to about five to ten times its occupied in the pre-compressed state thickness, but often only about half is used to secure attachment to the building part to ensure, which is opposite to the profile element to be sealed.
- the compression and expansion direction is indicated by arrow C.
- the foam strip 2 has a plurality of foam segments 10, which are arranged in rows and columns in the present case. These foam segments 10 are formed by incisions 12 or are separated by the incisions 12 from each other.
- All cuts 12 extend from the top 6 into the foam strip 2 inside.
- the incisions 12 and thus the foam segments 10 extend in the expanded state of the foam strip 2 over at least 50% of its height, preferably up to at least 90% of its height.
- a web 14 remain, which connects the foam segments 10 with each other.
- This bridge 14 is in Fig. 1 separated by a dotted line from the foam segments 10, but is in reality formed integrally therewith.
- the one incisions 12 extend substantially parallel to the side surfaces 4 of the foam strip 2 and the other incisions 12 substantially perpendicular to the side surfaces 4 of the foam strip 2, resulting in a checkered pattern of the foam segments 10 in plan view.
- a plurality of foam segments 10, ie all but the foam segments 10 located at the edge of the sealing strip, are completely surrounded by other foam segments 10 in the longitudinal direction B and in the transverse direction A of the sealing strip.
- the incisions may, for example, zigzag through the sealing strip, wavy or in any other, preferably regular design.
- the shape of the individual foam segments 10 may also be different from those in FIG Fig. 1 deviate shown cuboid shape.
- the incisions 12 can be inclined from top to bottom. Almost every three-dimensional configuration of the foam segments 10 is conceivable.
- the cuts 12 are usually extremely narrow and formed by displacement cuts through which no material loss occurs when cutting the cuts 12 in the foam strip 2. It is also conceivable to produce the cuts 12 by punching out foam material from the foam strip 2, if this should be advantageous for certain applications. As a rule, however, it is preferred to make the cuts 12 as narrow as possible and to lose as little material as possible when introducing the cuts 12 in order to leave the sealing effect of the sealing strip as large as possible.
- An adhesive layer 15 is disposed on the underside 8 of the foam strip 2. Usually, this adhesive layer 15 is covered with a cover film, not shown here, which is withdrawn before the use of the sealing tape.
- adhesive layer 15 a mesh fabric or a carrier film, a non-woven or the like may be embedded to increase the tensile strength.
- adhesive layer is therefore also intended to include adhesive layers of this type.
- the adhesive layer 15 is formed as a double-sided adhesive tape, which produces a firm adhesive bond between the foam strip 2 and the component 16.
- the adhesive layer 15 can also be realized by a layer of a commercially available adhesive which is to be applied manually on the construction site.
- Fig. 2 is the installation state of the sealing band off Fig. 1 shown. It can be seen how even large unevenness of the masonry 18 of the sealing tape according to the invention due to the possibility of independent expansion of the individual foam segments 10 can be compensated and thus secure sealing and installation of the foam segments 10 on the masonry 18 is ensured.
- Fig. 3 illustrated embodiment of the sealing tape according to the invention substantially corresponds to the embodiment of Fig. 1 but contains at the bottom 8 of the foam strip 2 a support layer 20.
- the incisions 12 extend over the entire height of the foam strip 2, and thus the individual foam segments 10 are connected only by the carrier layer 20 with each other.
- the carrier layer 20 is adhered to the foam strip 2 or to the individual foam segments 10 by means of gluing or lamination.
- the carrier layer 20 consists of a foamed plastic, such as polyethylene, polypropylene or cellular rubber.
- the material of the carrier layer 20 may also be a fabric, fleece, a plastic film (such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride or rubber), a grid, a scrim or an adhesive tape. Also strips of plastic, wood or metal are conceivable, or another material that is suitable for the stated purpose. Combinations of the above materials are possible.
- the thickness of the carrier layer 20 is between 5 ⁇ m and 10 mm, preferably between 20 ⁇ m and 3 mm.
- the carrier layer 20 is made stretchable.
- the carrier layer 20 is designed as a double-sided self-adhesive tape.
- the carrier layer 20 is laminated with a cover film 22, which is removed before the use of the sealing tape.
- the carrier layer 20 is designed stretchable, can be sealed with the sealing tape according to the invention of different depth joints by the sealing tape is pulled apart to the required width, as from 4 and FIG. 5 is apparent.
- the incisions 12 are broadened to gaps 24 between the individual foam segments 10, as in the embodiment in the joint of great depth in Fig. 5 is shown. These spaces 24 are also due to the stored air in the insulation.
- the sealing strip according to the invention can be produced both in strip form and as a sealing strip roll. After unwinding of the sealing tape from the sealing tape roll usually leaves only as much time for attaching the sealing tape to the component 16 and the insertion of the component 16 in the space provided in the masonry 18, until the delayed expansion of the foam segments 10 of the foam strip. 2 the sealing tape makes it too big to insert into the opening. Since today's impregnations allow a delay of expansion of the foam by several hours, but this is not a significant limitation. If the sealing strip is in strip form, it is anyway necessary to compress the strip prior to insertion into the joint.
- the sealing tape according to the invention could also be attached to it before the transport of the component 16 to be sealed.
- the sealing tape is prevented by a sheath (not shown) in its expansion. Then, after installation in the corresponding building opening on site, only the covering would have to be opened, whereupon the foam segments 10 of the foam strip 2 expand upwards and ensure the sealing of the joint.
