Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of dimmable control gear for light sources, specifically to dimmable control gear for the combined operation of gas discharge lamps and semiconductor light sources.
- the invention is based on dimmable operating devices for the combined operation of gas discharge lamps and semiconductor light sources according to the preamble of the main claim. So far, in light fixtures, which also use semiconductor light sources such as light-emitting diodes in addition to the gas discharge lamps that have been used for a long time, every light source has been considered as such. With dimmable lights, each light source is dimmable, but both light sources are not considered as one unit.
- fluorescent lamps can be dimmed with the appropriate technical effort to 1% of the nominal light, but the efficiency drops significantly at these low dimming positions. Also, the color of the emitted light can change, as at very low Performs the lamp cools strongly and gives the argon charge over the mercury discharge more weight.
- the operating device contains circuits that can operate both lamps dimmed.
- the dimming control there is an input which can be an interface to an analog or digital light control bus.
- an analog bus usually a 1-10V bus is used, as a digital interface Usually the DALI protocol is used.
- the digital interface also knows light control commands and lighting scenarios that are stored in the operating device. If a signal is input to this input, the operating device controls the light output of both light sources according to the entered dimming level.
- one or the other light source is used, and an internal control ensures that the transition from one light source to the other remains hidden to the human eye.
- both bulbs are used to realize a very smooth transition.
- FIG. 1 Schematic representation of a hybrid system according to the invention.
- FIG. 2 Graphic showing the transition from the semiconductor light sources to the gas discharge lamps.
- Fig. 3 Graphic illustrating another takeover criterion: the specific efficiency of the light sources.
- Fig. 1 shows a schematic connection diagram of an operating device according to the invention.
- the device has outputs for gas discharge lamps and for semiconductor light sources.
- the gas discharge lamps are preferably compact fluorescent lamps, and the semiconductor light sources may be, for example, white LEDs or OLEDs.
- the mains voltage input there is an input for a light control interface. This can be a digital or an analog interface. But it is also possible to program the interface to one or the other light control protocol. This has the advantage of the widest possible usability of the operating device.
- the two different light sources should be placed in the luminaire so that the light distribution of both bulbs is similar. Only then can the luminaire be dimmed within a wide range without visible optical deviations.
- Fig. 2 shows a diagram that illustrates the basic procedure for the transition from the LEDs to the gas discharge lamps.
- the dimming position of a light control signal is indicated via the total brightness.
- Both light source types operated by the device are controlled via a light control signal.
- the two curves for the semiconductor light sources and the gas discharge lamps run in large areas on the light control signal, ie that in all areas except the dimming range of 3% -10% each of the light output of the semiconductor light sources or the gas discharge lamps exactly follow the default value of the light control signal.
- the light control signal At the bottom and top ends the light control signal, as there is no correlation There is more between signal and brightness. In the range of 3% to 10%, both types of light source contribute to system light output.
- the light sources are each dimmed so that the total light intensity corresponds to the default value of the light control signal.
- the LEDs or OLEDs light in the lower dimming range, e.g. from 1 ⁇ to 10%. From a dimming position of 3%, the gas discharge lamps are switched on. At the time of the lamp ignition, the light output of the LEDs is suddenly reduced at the same time so as not to change the total luminous intensity of the lamp. In order to compensate as well as possible for the short flash of light of the gas discharge lamp, which it emits when ignited, it would also be conceivable to completely switch off the LEDs for the moment of the lamp ignition. In the range between 3% and 10%, both lamps are gradually increased in light output. At 10% dimming, the LEDs are turned off and the power of the gas discharge lamp is suddenly increased to maintain the amount of light emitted. From there, the gas discharge lamp is dimmed up to its rated power.
- the transition between the two lamp categories can be visible despite the same brightness. This is especially the case when the lamp has been operated for a long time in the lower dimming range, in which the gas discharge lamp is strongly dimmed or completely switched off. Then the lamp cools down and changes its color or is cooled down at the start so far that it gives a slightly different color than in the nominal light mode.
- the operating device in the second embodiment has outputs for different colored LEDs.
- a map can be stored in the operating device, which describes the dependence of the temperature of the gas discharge lamp on the dimming position, time and color location.
- the operating device adjusts the color location of the differently colored semiconductor light sources to the color locus of the gas discharge lamp.
- the semiconductor light sources may be organized in groups, so that a plurality of semiconductor light sources are provided for each color.
- Another possibility is to use a sensor for the total brightness and the color locus and to control the lamps in such a way that the values for the individual brightnesses, for the total brightness and for the two color locations of the different light sources can be measured and adjusted.
- the measurements must be made when only the light source to be measured is turned on. This is relatively easy in the lower dimming range, since the light sources are driven pulsed and thus there are always times when only the light source to be measured lights up. If the activation does not result in a suitable time, then the control of the operating device for a measurement can switch off all non-metered lamps. Since this period is very short, it can not be perceived by the human eye.
