Definitions
- the invention relates to a bullet for handgun ammunition with a metallic core, which is at least partially surrounded by a plastic sheath, according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a projectile of the type mentioned is from the US 2007/089629 , which forms a starting point for the present claim 1, is known, in which a partial shell casing made of plastic is provided which is inserted into a recess formed between and by two shoulders in the metallic core.
- the known bullet is to fragment at soft targets and show a better penetration in hard targets.
- the metal core has an annular groove into which the injected plastic material penetrates during manufacture and has a stabilizing effect.
- the metal core tip of the projectile is not encased and allows a Aufpilzung the projectile when hitting a target.
- the subcaliber Zerschellpenetrator comprises a plastic sheath and a metal core, wherein the plastic sheath is open to the projectile nose and the metal core protrudes beyond the sheath.
- High density composites are known, especially for use in ammunition, consisting of a metal powder and a binder, in particular a polymer binder, wherein the metal powder articles have a size distribution between 2 and 40 microns and the metal is tungsten.
- the known projectiles have in common that they have a cheap, tube-protecting polymer-plastic jacket and a metal core to increase the bullet weight, in particular to obtain the repeating function even with training ammunition and for the preservation of the breakdown effect, unless it is training ammunition.
- the present invention seeks to provide a bullet, which shows no or less mushrooming during impact and also easily fragmented to avoid ricochets when hitting hard targets.
- the metallic core of steel, copper, tin, tungsten or alloys of these metals allows the production of a sufficiently heavy lead-free projectile.
- the Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a projectile 1 according to an embodiment of the invention.
- the projectile 1 can be designed in its dimensions for various handgun ammunition, especially for a variety of calibers for pistols and rifles.
- the projectile 1 is in two parts, consisting of two different ones Materials exist.
- the plastic jacket is provided with the reference numeral 10.
- It may be thermoplastic material, including in particular higher melting and harder material, for example polyoxymethylene, polyamide, polycarbonates, acrylic resins, polyacrylates, polyether ketones, polyaryl sulfones, polybenzimidazoles, polybutylene terephthalates, polyetherimides, polyethersulfones, polyimides, polyphenylene sulfides, polyethylene, polypropylene , Polysulfones, polyvinyl chlorides, polystyrene, polyphenylene. It can also be a nylon material. Advantageously, it is a sprayable material.
- the metallic core is provided with the reference numeral 20.
- the metallic core 20 may be a cast or rotated metal part, or it may be a sintered core. It can be made of steel, copper, tin or tungsten or of alloys of these metals.
- the metallic core 20 has a bottom 22, which is just configured here. This is followed by a near-bottom cylinder section 21.
- This has a diameter which is close to the field diameter.
- the near-surface cylinder portion 21 may be chamfered at the transition to the ground.
- the length of the cylinder portion 21 may be 3 mm to an automated enclosure for automatic assembly of the projectile resp. To enable encapsulation.
- Fig. 2 now shows a bottom view of the projectile Fig. 1 with one on the Fig. 3 referring line III-III.
- the Fig. 3 shows a partial cross-sectional view and side view along this line III-III of Fig. 2 ,
- a radial abutment shoulder 25 adjoins the said bottom-near cylinder section 21, with which the diameter for the inner cylinder section 26 is reduced, for example, to 4 mm.
- the abutment shoulder 25 has a bottom-side transition groove 24, the depth of which may be between 0.3 mm and 1 mm, this value being chosen to be, for example, 0.4 or 0.5 mm depending on the energy of the projectile in the target.
- the plastic shell 10 To the inner cylinder portion 26 of the plastic shell 10 is molded. This has a with the exceptions to be described a substantially uniform thickness, which is for example 0.75 mm in the small caliber area. This allows a high utilization of the available volume over the projectile length of here 21 mm for the metallic core 20.
- the volume utilization of the core 20 is at least 80% of the total volume of the projectile.
- the metallic core 20 has here two further fragmentation grooves 23, which are located at a distance of about 5 mm from each other.
- the fragmentation grooves 23 and the bottom-side transition groove 24 are filled with an adhesive. They can also be filled by the plastic material when spraying the plastic sheath 10.
- the grooves 23 and 24 are shown as keyways. It can also be rectangular or rounded grooves. They may have been lifted off by machining or produced by being pressed in, in order to prepare the predetermined breaking points by introducing tension.
- the plastic jacket 10 has a conical tip 11, for example, with a cone angle of 75 degrees, which then in a width which corresponds approximately to the diameter of the metallic core 10 into a steeper cone portion 12 at an angle of, for example, 30 degrees.
- the diameter of the front, first cylinder section 13 in the case of the small caliber projectile shown here is 5.5 mm with a tolerance towards a smaller diameter of less than 0.5 percent. This results in this cylinder section 13, an overall diameter of soul 20 and plastic sheath 10, which is in the range of the diameter of the field caliber of a corresponding tube of a handgun. Effectively, said diameter must be slightly smaller than the field diameter of the barrel of the corresponding caliber. This can be introduced without effort into the chamber, wherein the cylinder portion 13 in the running section behind the transition cone (already has the train / field profile) comes to rest. The whole serves to maximize the volume resp. the bullet mass.
- the first cylinder section 13 ends and passes through the step 15 in the enlarged diameter second cylinder section 16 on.
- the aim is a maximum guide length and sufficient bullet extraction force, limited by the total length of the cartridge, resulting from the need for compatibility with the magazine.
- the diameter of the second cylinder portion 16 is shown in the small caliber bullet 5.75 mm with a tolerance towards a smaller diameter of less than 0.4 percent. This ensures that this diameter corresponds at least to the nominal diameter of the Switzerlandkalibers a corresponding tube of a handgun.
- the sleeve for the projectile 1 can be pressed in a known manner on the bottom-near cylinder portion 21 or optionally mounted with adhesives or provided with an encapsulation of the metallic core 20 with thermoplastics.
- the plastic sheath 10 may be sprayed onto the metallic core 20 or a separately produced plastic sheath 10 may be pressed onto the metallic core 20. In this case, then the tip 11 of the shell 10 may be provided axially or the cone portion 12 radially or obliquely with a channel for the escape of compressed in the interior of the shell 10 air.
- this bullet 1 can be used for ammunition for a variety of small arms.
Description
- Fig. 1
- Fig. 2
- eine Unteransicht des Geschosses nach
Fig. 1 , und - Fig. 3
Fig. 2 .
