Definitions
- the present invention relates to a wristwatch watch case comprising a closed enclosure intended to receive a watch movement and having a middle through which at least one control rod passes, middle part to which are fixed on the one hand a bottom and another part of an ice, this closed enclosure being housed in an outer casing having an upper element provided with an opening for the passage of ice, a bottom and a side wall provided with connection means to the bracelet and at least one passage for said control rod, resilient means being disposed between the bottom of the casing and said enclosure for exerting, on a bearing of the middle part located on the periphery of said mirror, a pressure tending to constantly maintain this range of the middle part applied against the edge of said opening for the passage of ice.
- the elastic means disposed between the bottom of the casing and the enclosure intended to receive the watch movement are made of synthetic resin.
- the elastic properties of these resins are relatively low, so that the shock-absorbing effect of such a solution remains limited.
- the watch case serves primarily to protect the watch movement. It is also, with the watch face, usually the only visible part of the watch, so the box is also an element that has an aesthetic role to play since, as for a car, its appearance is an element in the choice of the buyer. If we want to change the appearance of the box must do another, even if the technical characteristics for the casing movement do not change.
- the box of a wristwatch is exposed to all kinds of aggression, including shocks.
- the object of the present invention is firstly to allow the appearance of the watch to be modified without having to change the whole of the box each time, on the other hand to confer an increased protection of the watch vis-à-vis shocks.
- the subject of the present invention is a wristwatch case according to claim 1.
- this box lies in the fact that the aesthetics of the outer shell can be changed without changing the closed enclosure containing the movement of the watch.
- this closed enclosure is sealed. So the part intended for the casing of the movement never changes for a given movement, only the outer casing, simpler to manufacture insofar as it no longer has to provide the casing functions of the movement or even sealing , is modified.
- the elastic suspension of the enclosure closed in the outer casing provides additional protection, particularly useful for a sports watch.
- This outer shell does not need to be waterproof. It has only means of attachment to the bracelet, which also simplifies the manufacture of the middle part of the closed enclosure since it no longer has horns.
- the wristwatch box comprises a closed chamber for receiving the movement of the watch 1 and which comprises in this example, a middle part 2 whose upper opening is closed by an ice 3 chased with interposition of a seal Sealing 4 and the lower opening is closed by a screwed bottom 5 with seal 6.
- the bottom 5 is provided with a transparent central portion 5a to allow to see the movement.
- this chamber is penetrated, preferably in a sealed manner, by at least one control rod 17 ( figures 1 and 4 ).
- This closed enclosure thus forms a sealed protection box for movement 1.
- This closed enclosure is mounted via an elastic suspension which will be described below in an envelope comprising an upper element 9 through which a central opening 9a passes through which part 2b of the caseband 2 in which the Ice 3 is fixed.
- a scope 2c of the middle part is adjacent to a scope of the upper element of the outer envelope.
- a damper can be housed in an annular housing 2d.
- the outer casing further comprises a bottom 10 to which are fixed four threaded studs 11, a spacer 12 being interposed between the upper element 9 and the bottom 10.
- This spacer 12 forms the side wall of the outer casing. It has a clearance 12a ( figure 4 ) to allow the passage of the winding stem 17.
- Four columns 13 whose ends end with fixing screws 13a screwed into the four respective threaded studs 11.
- the heads 13b of these screws take support in the bottom of four housings 9b of the upper element 9 of the outer casing.
- the outer face of the bottom 10 of the outer casing is bent to allow to fit the shape of the wrist.
- This bottom 10 has an opening 10a which allows to see the transparent portion 5a of the bottom 5 of the inner enclosure.
- This opening 10a also allows the bottom 5 of the inner enclosure to be housed partially in the thickness of the bottom 10 of the outer casing and to reduce the total height of the watch case.
- the caseband has, on both sides of a diametrical line passing through the time-setting rod 7, two suspension elements 2a ( figures 2 and 4 ), each crossed by two openings, one of which is visible on the figure 4 .
- a guide column 13 provided with a fixing screw 13 passes through each of the openings 8, so that the middle part 2 is slidably mounted in the outer casing via the four guide columns 13.
- a coil spring 14 is mounted around each guide column 13, and is disposed between each threaded stud 11 and the suspension elements 2a of the middle part 2, thus pressing the bearing surface 2c of the middle part against the bearing surface of the upper element 9 of the outer envelope adjacent to the central opening 9a of this upper element.
- Fixing each of the two strands of the bracelet 15 is carried out by means of two screws 16 screwed from below through respective openings through the bottom 10 of the outer casing. These screws 16 are screwed into threads 12a formed in the spacer 1 forming the lateral wall of the outer casing and one of which is visible on the figure 2 , after having passed through a fastening insert 15a of the bracelet 15.
- the three elements, the upper element 9, the bottom 10 and the spacer 12 constituting the outer envelope in which the inner enclosure 2, 3, 5 is elastically suspended are simpler parts to manufacture than those of a standard watch case. Therefore, the appearance given to the wristwatch by this envelope can be more easily modified without affecting the internal enclosure, which must ensure the casing movement and its protection, forming a tight internal space.
- the elastic suspension of the enclosure provides additional protection of the movement of the shown against shocks.
