Definitions

  • the invention relates to a toothbrush with a handle part and a head part, which carries a bristle trim, wherein the handle part is connected to the head part via a hinge, which is associated with a spring device made of an elastic plastic material. Moreover, the invention relates to a method for producing a corresponding toothbrush.
  • the stem of a toothbrush is formed as a one-piece plastic component, which has a lower resistance moment and thus a higher deformability in a transition region between the rear grip portion and the front head portion by special cross-sectional configurations and / or material combinations.
  • the rear handle part and a front head part of the toothbrush as an independent components and connect to each other via a joint. The invention relates to a toothbrush of the latter construction.
  • a corresponding toothbrush is for example from the WO99 / 39610 A1 known.
  • the toothbrush described therein has a handle portion which has a J-shaped hook portion at its front, the bristle facing end facing.
  • a head part also has a J-shaped hook section at its rear end facing the handle part. The two hook sections engage with each other to form a gap and the gap is filled with an elastic plastic material. In this way, it is possible that the head part in use of the toothbrush performs a pivoting relative to the handle portion, wherein the elastic plastic material is deformed and generates the reaction forces required for the recovery of the head part.
  • the deformation properties of the head part relative to the handle part are substantially dependent on the thickness of the plastic material and thus on the size of the gap between the head part and the handle part. Since the size of the gap is structurally predetermined, toothbrushes with different deformation properties can only be achieved by using different elastic plastic materials. This is disadvantageous in terms of production technology. In addition, it has been shown that the known toothbrush has an undefined rigidity perpendicular to the desired direction of movement of the head part, so that it can come to buckling when using the toothbrush.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a toothbrush of the type mentioned, with the defined deformation properties can be achieved in use.
  • a method is to be created with which a corresponding toothbrush can be produced in a simple and cost-effective manner.
  • the spring device is formed by an at least partial outer envelope of the joint, wherein the envelope preferably consists of a thermoplastic elastomer.
  • the basic idea is to not arrange the elastic plastic material forming the spring device within the joint, but to arrange it in the form of an at least partial outer covering of the joint on its outside.
  • the joint can be optimally adapted to the desired deformation movements of the head part relative to the handle part in its shape and its possibilities of movement.
  • the joint is a ball joint or a hinge joint.
  • a spherical joint body sits snugly in a complementarily configured joint receptacle, so that a pivoting movement of the head part relative to the grip part in any direction through 360 ° is possible.
  • a cylindrical joint body is provided in a corresponding complementary joint receptacle, so that a pivoting of the head part relative to the grip part is possible only in one direction or one plane.
  • the joint may also have another structural design, for example as a saddle joint.
  • the outer cover can be easily applied to the joint and in particular spray on and determines the deformation properties of the head part relative to the Handle portion.
  • the reaction forces produced during deformation of the toothbrush in the elastic plastic material of the sheath and thus the spring rate of the spring device can be determined by the shape and / or the thickness of the sheath and / or by the material properties and in particular the Shore hardness of the plastic material set as desired.
  • the joint permits movement of the head part relative to the handle part in only one predetermined plane, as is the case for example with a hinge joint
  • the cover is formed by at least two tendon parts, each with one end on the handle part and attached to the headboard at the other end.
  • exactly two tendon parts should be provided, which are arranged on those opposite sides of the toothbrush, in the direction of the head part can dodge.
  • the envelope completely surrounds the joint and encapsulates it in relation to the environment.
  • a joint which allows movement of the head part relative to the handle part in several planes, for example in a ball joint, ensures sufficient spring action in all directions.
  • the complete covering of the joint for reasons of hygiene is to be preferred, since in this way reliably ruled out that dirt and / or bacteria can enter the joint and settle there.
  • the construction according to the invention of a toothbrush makes it possible to produce the grip part and the head part as separate components or in succession.
  • the handle part and the head part may consist of the same material and in particular of the same plastic.
  • the handle part and the head part made of different materials. This may be useful for cost reasons, since only the head part is inserted into the mouth of the user when using the toothbrush and thus has to meet higher hygienic requirements than the handle part.
  • the head part made of plastic and in particular consists of polypropylene.
  • the grip part may also consist of plastic and in particular of polystyrene or ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymers).
  • the head part can consist of one piece, but in an alternative embodiment of the invention it can also be provided that the head part is subdivided into a first head part section carrying the bristle trim and a second head part section connected to the handle part via the joint. Head portion and the second head portion are connected to each other via another joint.
  • the further joint can have an embodiment, as has already been described above in connection with the other joint, and reference should be made to avoid repetition.
  • the further joint is associated with a further spring device in the form of a further, at least partially outer sheath, wherein the sheath may consist of a thermoplastic elastomer in the manner mentioned.
  • the further envelope may be formed in the manner mentioned by at least two tendon parts, but preferably the further envelope encapsulates the further joint completely against the environment.
  • the two head portions may be made of the same material or of different materials, but preferably for both head portions of the same plastic and in particular polypropylene is used.
  • the further joint may be a ball joint or a hinge joint.
  • the grip part and the head part are produced as separate components and then joined together to form the joint and, in particular, assembled. Subsequently, the joint is encapsulated to form the envelope with an elastic plastic material and in particular a thermoplastic elastomer.
  • the handle part and the head part are preferably each formed as a plastic injection molded part, which are brought together and encapsulated in an injection molding machine with the envelope.
  • the head part from two head part sections, wherein for the formation of the head part first a first head part section and a second head part section are produced independently of each other and then connected together to form another joint whereupon the further joint is at least partially encapsulated to form a further envelope with an elastic and in particular elastomeric plastic material.
  • a first component in the form of the grip part or the head part is produced.
  • the other of these components ie the head part or the handle part, molded to form the joint.
  • the materials of the grip part and the head part do not enter into a cohesive connection, but are only positively connected to one another, ie the head part remains relative to the grip part movable.
  • the joint is at least partially and in particular completely encapsulated to form the envelope with an elastic plastic material and in particular a thermoplastic elastomer.
  • the grip part, the head part and the sheath are produced in a three-step injection molding process in a common injection molding tool. If, in a first step, the grip part is injected, in the second step, the head part is sprayed onto the grip part, while maintaining the relative mobility. Alternatively, in the first step, first the head part and then in the second step, the handle part are molded. Finally, in the third step, the envelope is sprayed, which forms the spring device.
  • the sheath should completely surround the joint and thus encapsulate it from the environment.
  • FIG. 1 shows a toothbrush according to the invention 10, which has a substantially rod-shaped handle portion 13 and a rod-shaped head portion 11, which are arranged one behind the other in the longitudinal direction and connected to each other at the ends facing each other to form a joint 14, wherein the joint 14 according to FIG. 1 surrounded by a sheath 19 forming a spring device 17 and is completely encapsulated from the environment.
  • a bristle trim 12 is provided at the end remote from the handle portion 13 of the head portion 11, in a conventional manner.
  • FIG. 2 shows the head part 11 as a single component. It can be seen that at the handle part 3 facing the lower end of a spherical joint body 15 is formed.
  • FIG. 3 shows the handle portion 13 as a single component having on its head portion 11 facing the upper end of a hinge seat 16, in which the hinge body 15 of the head part 11 can engage.
  • the head part 11 is preferably prefabricated from plastic and provided with a bristle trim 12. Regardless, the handle 13 is also prefabricated from plastic. These two components are then mounted together by the hinge body 15 is inserted into the joint receptacle 16, where he preferably in a positive manner, in particular by cogging forces from falling out is hindered. This condition is in FIG. 4 shown. When the joint body 15 is a ball, the head part 14 can be freely pivoted relative to the grip part 13 in all directions.
  • the joint 14 of in FIG. 4 The preassembled toothbrush shown is then completely encapsulated in an injection mold with the sheath 19 made of a thermoplastic elastomer.
  • the envelope 19 forms the spring device 17, the reaction force and restoring moments generated during pivoting of the head part 11 relative to the handle portion 13 in use of the toothbrush through which the head part 11 returns to its original position relative to the handle portion 13 when the load is no longer present is.
  • the head part 11 and the handle part 13 were produced independently of each other, then mounted on each other and encapsulated in the region of the joint 14 with the sheath 19.
  • the handle part 13 can be produced, to which then the head part 11 is molded.
  • the envelope 19 is then injected in the region of the joint 14. All three process steps can take place in the same injection molding machine.
  • the joint 14 is formed as a ball joint, so that the head part 11 can pivot relative to the handle part 13 in many different directions. Accordingly, the joint 14 is complete surrounded by the sheath 19 to generate upon pivoting of the head portion 11 in any direction always corresponding reaction forces in the sheath 19.
  • FIG. 5 shows a modified embodiment in which the joint body 15 of the joint 14 is formed as a cylindrical body which sits in a complementarily shaped joint seat 16. In this way, the head part 11 can only be pivoted about a pivot axis A extending in the longitudinal direction of the cylindrical joint body 15 in only one predetermined plane relative to the grip part 13.
  • the sheath 19 is formed by two tendon parts 18a and 18b disposed on opposite sides of the toothbrush 10.
  • Each tendon part 18a, 18b is fastened with its one end to the grip part 13 and with its other end to the head part 11.
  • the head part 11 is pivoted relative to the handle part 13 about the axis A, one of the tendon parts 18a, 18b is subjected to a tensile force, while the other tendon part is subjected to a corresponding compressive force.
  • the tendon parts 18a and 18b generate the reaction forces that determine the resilient deformation properties of the head part.
  • the toothbrush (10) build up in three parts, the three parts are arranged one behind the other and connected via two joints to a brush handle.
  • the handle part 13 has the structure mentioned in connection with the previous embodiments.
