Definitions
- the invention relates to an injection system with a device for metering fuel into an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine according to the preamble of claim 1 and a method for metering fuel into an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine according to the preamble of claim 8.
- soot particles contained in the exhaust of diesel engines in particulate filters.
- the soot collected in the particulate filter is oxidized by means of oxygen.
- the temperature required for the oxidation of the particulate filter can be achieved with the help of an upstream of the particulate filter oxidation catalyst.
- metered amount of fuel is injected into the exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine so as to produce the required increase in temperature by means of a chemical reaction of the fuel in the oxidation catalyst.
- the generic publication DE 102 51 686 A1 shows an injection system with a device for dosing of fuel in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine.
- the injection system is designed in the form of a storage injection system (common rail).
- the accumulator injection system has a fuel pump that delivers fuel from a fuel tank into a reservoir and holds it under high pressure.
- Injectors are connected to the accumulator, which in each case emit fuel from the accumulator into a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine.
- the injection system has an injection valve, which is assigned to the exhaust system of the internal combustion engine and can spray off fuel into the exhaust system.
- an injection nozzle and an injector controlling the actuator are combined, wherein the actuator is controlled by a control unit.
- the fuel pump supplies fuel to the fuel injector from the fuel tank.
- a shut-off valve is arranged, which can interrupt the fuel flow to the injection nozzle in an emergency.
- a fuel pressure sensor is provided which can measure the pressure of the fuel in front of the injection valve.
- the regeneration of the particulate filter takes place at low exhaust gas and Oxidationskatalysator- or particle filter temperatures by means of the injectors, which additionally spray off fuel into the combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine.
- At high exhaust and Oxidationskatalysator- or particle filter temperatures is a spraying of fuel by means of the injection valve in the exhaust system of the internal combustion engine. This is to ensure that the injected fuel for the regeneration of the particulate filter in all load and speed ranges of the internal combustion engine can go into a vapor state before the fuel encounters the oxidation catalyst or during the fuel meets the oxidation catalyst.
- the disadvantage here is that the spraying of fuel by means of the injectors adversely affect the thermodynamic efficiency of the internal combustion engine and the device for metering fuel into the exhaust system of the internal combustion engine is not suitable at low exhaust and Oxidationskatalysator- or particle filter temperatures effective regeneration of the particulate filter sure.
- the object of the invention is in contrast to provide an injection system with a device for metering fuel of the type mentioned, in which the spraying of fuel into the exhaust system can be done so that the particulate filter in all load and speed ranges of the engine a high efficiency can be regenerated, which can be dispensed with an additional injection of fuel into the combustion chambers.
- the device according to the invention is characterized by a pressure regulating valve, which is arranged between the shut-off valve and the metering valve and is connected via a drain to the injection system.
- the injection system has a high-pressure pump which delivers fuel to a reservoir and maintains it under high pressure. With the memory injectors are connected, which spray the fuel from the memory in each case into a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine.
- An injection nozzle is connected to the injection system via an inlet.
- a shut-off valve and a metering valve are provided in the inlet.
- the injection nozzle is assigned to an exhaust system of the internal combustion engine.
- the check valve releases the fuel from the injection system for injection through the injector and the metering valve meters the released fuel to the injector.
- the injector injects the metered fuel into the exhaust system to regenerate a particulate filter in the exhaust system downstream of the injector.
- a pressure regulating valve is arranged between the shut-off valve and the metering valve. The pressure regulating valve levels the pressure of the fuel between the shut-off valve and the metering valve to a certain value by shutting off a portion of the fuel between the shut-off valve and the metering valve via the drain.
- the discarded fuel is returned to the injection system.
- the pressure of the fuel upstream of the metering valve can be controlled within narrow limits, so that minute quantities of fuel can be discharged from the injector with high accuracy, which can evaporate even at low exhaust gas temperatures before the fuel strikes the oxidation catalyst.
- the shut-off valve is preceded by a throttle.
- the fuel from the injection system flows through the throttle to the shut-off valve and with the shut-off valve open to the dosing valve and the pressure control valve.
- pressure fluctuations in the fuel from the injection system are smoothed by the throttle, whereby the accuracy of the control of the pressure of the fuel before the metering valve can be further improved.
- the throttle, the shut-off valve, the metering valve and the pressure control valve are combined in a metering unit.
- the dosing unit is connected to the injection system via the inlet and via the drain.
- the fuel flows via the inlet into the dosing unit.

- the injector opens automatically by the pressure of the fuel in the injection line and injects fuel into the exhaust system.
- the pressure set by the metering unit of the fuel exceeds the opening pressure of the preferably spring-loaded injection nozzle, so that the injector opens automatically and the released fuel is injected into the exhaust system of the internal combustion engine.
- the pressure of the fuel is controlled by the pressure regulating valve within narrow limits, whereby the amount of fuel sprayed depends substantially on the opening duration of the metering valve, so that the amount of fuel sprayed off can be precisely controlled.

- the metering valve meters the fuel released by the shut-off valve so that the automatically opening injection nozzle makes one or more sprayings into the exhaust system of the internal combustion engine.
- the pressure regulating valve controls the pressure of the released fuel between the shut-off valve and the metering valve, so that the pressure of the fuel before the metering valve is leveled to a certain value.
- fuel is taken from the injection system exclusively when spraying fuel into the exhaust system.
- a part of the fuel between the shut-off valve and the metering valve is shut down by means of the pressure control valve.
- the pressure control valve By controlling a portion of the fuel, precise control of the pressure of the fuel is achieved.
