Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a timepiece comprising a time display and at least one other display for example a chronograph display, a power reserve display, a ring time, an altimetric display or temperature, etc.
  • the object of the present invention is therefore to facilitate reading, in particular of the time display and / or of an additional display, by appropriate means in a timepiece comprising at least one other display than the time display.
  • Such a device is however complex and causes a significant increase in the volume of the timepiece, including its thickness which is a significant disadvantage.
  • the user must manually open or close the diaphragm to switch from a view of the single time display to the visibility of all the displays of the watch.
  • the position of the diaphragm does not correspond to what the user wishes to visualize and the user must therefore modify the position of the diaphragm manually before reading the desired display which is inconvenient and constitutes a waste of time.
  • the purpose of the present invention is to facilitate the reading of the displays of a timepiece comprising a time display and at least one other display while avoiding the aforementioned drawbacks of the prior art that is to say without it is necessary to make a manual adjustment before reading the displays.
  • the present invention relates to a timepiece, including a wristwatch, having a time display and at least one other display to achieve the proposed goal while avoiding the aforementioned drawbacks, which is distinguished by the characteristics listed in the claim 1.
  • the accompanying drawing illustrates an embodiment of the timepiece according to the invention comprising a time display and at least one other display that can be read instantly and without risk of error by the user.
  • the figure 1 is a plan view of a wristwatch according to the invention.
  • the figure 2 is a partial section of the watch shown in the figure 1 .
  • the figure 3 is a schematic view of the dials and switches of the timepiece.
  • the timepiece illustrated with figures 1 and 2 is a wristwatch having a watch case consisting of a middle part 1, a bezel 1a, a bottom 2, 2a and a mirror 3.
  • This watch case 1,2,3 contains a movement of watchmaking 4 whose upper face is provided with a lower dial 5 comprising a peripheral display area 6 preferably having an annular shape as shown in the drawing, carrying a graduation of hours and minutes 7 of a time display. This graduation 7 is surrounded by an hour circle 8.
  • This peripheral display area 6 of the lower dial 5 cooperates with a lower hourly switch comprising an hour hand 10 and a minute hand 11.
  • the hour hand 10 is integral with a gun of the hours 12 while the needle minutes 11 is integral with a minute gun 13, concentric and pivoting inside the barrel hours 12.
  • This time switch is driven in the usual way by the watch movement 4.
  • the timepiece further comprises an upper dial 14 located above the time switch 10,11 and fixed by its periphery to the watch case 1,2,3.
  • This upper dial 14 has an opaque internal display area 15 surrounded by a transparent peripheral zone 16 revealing at least a large portion of the display area 6 of the lower dial 5 and the end of the minute hands 11 and hours 10.
  • This upper dial 14 is traversed in its center by a sixty-minute gun chronograph 17 carrying a sixty-minute chronograph needle 18, this gun being concentric with the gun minute 13.
  • a chronograph seconds hand 19 is secured to an axis of a chronograph second 20 located concentrically and inside the sixty minute chronograph gun 17.
  • the central opaque portion 15 of the upper dial carries one or more graduations 21 and a lap of minutes + seconds 9, cooperating with the needles of the upper switch 18,19.
  • the upper switch 18,19 and the central portion 15 of the upper dial constitute another display, in the example illustrated a chronograph display, displaying a different size than the time display.
  • This other display, higher, 15, 18, 19, 21 could in variants be a display of the calendar, power reserve, pressure, temperature, etc.
  • this other display is a chronograph display and the scale 21 carried by the upper dial is used in correspondence with the minute turn 9 carried by the lower dial.
  • the graduation 21 would include a number of steps other than sixty the upper dial 14 could comprise in its central zone 15 digits opposite the marks of its graduation 21.
  • the upper dial 14 and the upper switch 18, 19 form the time display, while the lower dial 5 and the lower switch 10, 11 form the additional display, for example that of seconds and minutes of a chronograph mechanism.
  • either the central portion 15 of the upper dial or the peripheral portion 6 of the lower dial, or each of the parts 15 and 6 could comprise the fixed parts of several distinct displays of the timepiece, for example a window date or other graduation.
  • This timepiece has great advantages related to the fact that the display consisting of the peripheral zone of the lower dial 6 and the visible end of the needles 10, 11 is especially well defined with respect to the other display or other displays located in the central area of the upper dial.
  • the central portions of the hands of the time display are hidden behind the opaque central portion 15 of the upper dial so that they do not interfere with the central display (s).
  • the user only looks at, and focuses on, the peripheral part of the timepiece where only the display is located schedule.
  • the central display (s) other than that may comprise the timepiece and which is exclusively located in the central area of the latter does not interfere with the reading of the peripheral time display reducing or totally avoiding any risk of reading error.
  • this timepiece is simple and has no mechanism that the user should operate to switch from reading the time display to reading other displays.
  • the timepiece can be less complicated and less bulky, especially less thick.
  • the upper dial 14 could have only its opaque central portion 15 and be fixed for example on a tube integral with the movement 4 disposed between the barrels 13 carrying the upper needle 11 of the lower switch 11,12 and the cannon 17 crossing the upper dial 14,15.
  • time display is located in the peripheral zone of the lower dial and formed by a graduation and the only visible ends of the needles of the time switch, the central portions of these needles being hidden under the central portion of the upper dial and that the other displays are located in the central part of the timepiece on the opaque portion 15 of the upper dial.
  • the chronograph display comprises an upper switch cooperating with a scale 21 carried by the opaque central portion 15 of the upper dial 14. This central part of the timepiece is entirely dedicated to the chronograph display and no element of the time display is visible in this central area avoiding reading confusion.
  • the time display is entirely located in the peripheral zone of the timepiece and comprises a scale carried by the lower dial cooperating with a lower switch. only the ends of the needles 10,11 are visible, the rest of these needles being hidden under the opaque central portion 15 of the upper dial.
  • the needles 10, 11 and 18, 19 are visible only in the peripheral or central zone of the timepiece, comprising the fixed part of the corresponding display.
  • the needles 10, 11 and 18, 19 are concentric.
  • the shape and conformation of the lower and upper displays could be non-annular and non-circular respectively.
  • the inner area 15 of the upper dial could be rectangular, and the inner and outer edges of the lower section portion 6 could also be rectangular.
  • Other shapes like oval or barrel are also conceivable, and both displays could even have dissimilar shapes, such as an upper dial that is circular and a lower dial having a square outer edge.
  • the upper dial be centered with respect to the lower dial and that the mobile indicator elements corresponding to each dial are concentric, eccentric or unsymmetrical displays are also possible.
